  1. Hi All !

Question? I was approved for my Visa on March 21st. I crossed into the US and activated my Visa on March 23rd. I had checked off that box to apply for the SSN with the application. How do I actually get it now ? Will it get mailed to me automatically or do I have to somewhere/call someone?

    Any guidance/information is appreciated.

    Thanks,

A friend of mine also received his SSN 4-5 weeks following POE. Hope this helps.

A question - I have my interview next Thursday in Montreal. How long did it take for you to get your visa in hand.

    Thanks

  2. Hello all,

I really need some help understanding the point at which we are at. I, USC, my husband UKC applied for K-3, I-130 and I-765. The K-3 was approved in Nov 2004 and we flew to USA in Jan 2005. Jan 25, 2005 his I-130 was approved. In april 2006 he recieved his work permit and SS#. During all this we have yet to file for AOS(long story, money issue) so now he flew back to England Nov. 22,2006 because his daughter was ill and his K-3 expired Nov.29, 2006. So at this point we decided we'll just finish the process from London so he can fly back with PR/GC and were done.

Now we recieved a packet back in April 2005 with this DS-3032 and I-864 Processing Fee Bill which I still have but ignored because we were doing AOS in the states. So I been searching for info for a week or more on how to do this and pulling my hair out, but I finally called the NVC, which by the way are not friendly or helpful, and they told me yes he can do it from london but she couldnt be ask to tell me the process or forms or even a hint of a timeline. What I have found out is reading your posts.

Could any of you please please explain to me where to go from here? This DS-3032 has an expire date of 12/31/2006 on it which is worrying me. Because of the time lapse she said I needed to send a letter telling them we still want to continue with the case. Which I sent at least 2weeks ago but she said they have no record of it and to sent it again and then when they get it they will process it and send out the same thing I got in front of me. Cant I get on with this DS-3032 and I-864 Fee Bill and send another letter again saying we want to continue at the same time to get this moving? Also what is DS-230 package? We have been married for 4-1/2yrs so I know he will get the 10yr, what a nice vacation from this immigration nightmare that will be.

Please guys I would so appreciate your help with any answers you could offer me. thank you

The DS-3032 is the "Choice of Agent and Address Form" Your husband needs to assign a person or lawyer to act on his behalf. Normally you assign a lawyer if you have one or you assign your US resident spouse. Your husband will need to sign and date. If he is in the UK you can fax him a copy. He will need to send to NVC upon completion. Strongly recommend sending overnight.

Here is a link that may help you with processing times:

The I-864 Processing Bill Fee is $70.00. This fee pays for the Affidavit of Support documents they will send you and further process. You will not receive the documents until the fee is paid.

Have you considered contacting the US consulate to find out what your options are. Can your husband get an extension on his K-3?

    Good Luck

  3. Did your ex sign the amended agreement? And was it filed with the court? I would think (although I don't know) that you would need a certified copy that it has actually been filed with the court.
My daughter DS-230 is coming down the pipeline and I am curious if anyone knows what documentation will be required to support that I have the right to take her with me.

I have a seperation agreement which states that I share joint custody, however, she resides with me except for twice a year. This document is notarized by my lawyer. I also have an amending document which outlines that I have the right to take my daughter to the US permanently. It however is only witnessed by his/my lawyer.

Is this sufficient or does the amended agreement require notorization?

    Thanks in advance for input!

Yes he did sign the amended agreement. No it was not filed with the court. I had asked my lawyer if it should be notorized and he said no. It was a legal binding document.

I guess I'll phone the Visa Centre and ask them. Thanks for your response

  5. It could be worse - Sockmonkey - My petition was received April 5th and is still not approved - All due to USCIS processing with wrong mailing address - Twice - and they lost my husband's photo. I called to confirm correct address twice and they mailed incorrectly twice.

Recently sent in DS-230 packet for CR-1!!! Looks like my K-3 visa $$$ was a waste too!

  6. This very same thing happened to me....the only difference is that the I-130 will likely process at the consulate before my I-129.

You can fax a "Request to Expedite" to USCIS. You will need to explain your situation and that you wish to have your step-daughters petition expedited so that they may process together. Make sure to advise them of your wife's NVC Case # as well as your step-daughters receipt number. If you call the service centre and explain why your sending a fax they should provide you with the number to the Texas office.

We filed my daughters petition 2 months after mine. Within 5 days of faxing request, her petition was approved.

  7. Geez, im feeling lonely on that list. Im at about 130 days now. oh well.

Don't feel too lonely, I'm still waiting too! - since April 5/06. Very frustrating to see people who applied in August and have been approved.!

Gemcote....I really hope you've inquired about the status of your case. I would insist on getting some answers, if I were you!!!

Trust me! I've tried to do several inquiries, however, they keep telling me the same thing. - I'd love to insist - but unless I'm missing something - I believe my fate is in their hands! I can't even say I've filled the forms out wrong or that I've been deliquent in responding. Unfortunately the issue does not lie with me....rather it lies with a system that doesn't really seem to care that your processed on a first come first serve basis. It's almost like your last receipt notice date supersedes your original submission date!

    Any suggestions would be grateful!

  8. first thing, remember that your's is a K3 so there may be some differences in the approach from USCIS...doesn't your daughter get derivative status?

because I already had my interview, I dealt only with the Montreal consulate...my contact there (and it 3 tries before I got someone through email who would help) made all the connections 1st through USCIS and then NVC..the first person I spoke to told me I was SOL and to wait out the kids' petition and that they would not be granting me a Visa on my own as the assumption was I would not move without them...the first email response I got was to contact NVC...the second email was a generous application to help with a contact name and direct line.

during the time I first made contact, I had the NOA1's for my kids' petitions then they got approved so they were connected with my petition but on the way to NVC. It wasn't until NVC acknowledged them that my contact could trace them and get fast forwarded to Montreal. My contact also confirmed that the kids would interview with me even if I had to change my interview date but she didn't think I'd have to. Fortunately and due to me calling Montreal every few days, she stayed on top of it, once NVC got it, they sent everything to Montreal straight off. I was able to bypass all the documents that were required for NVC and took everything to my interview because they were exactly the same as my husband had to file for me except for the Permission to Move stuff. I provided original (and photocopies for Montreal to keep) documents and the fees (for I-864 and whatever else) at my interview. The medical was a little tricky cause they wanted the kids' appointment letters but I had them call directly to my contact and she told them to do it. My interview was assigned Aug. 16 2005 Our interviews and Visas granted were on Oct. 20. 2005.

I noticed when the agent was flipping through all our files during the interviews..there were several emails and notes from between the consulate, NVC and USCIS. Also all my conversations were noted and placed in the files.

    good luck and perservere

Thanks so much. Your right I did apply for K3 status...but at this rate, I think the I-130 will be processed first. thanks again.

  9. hey, been there, done that

once you get your NOA1, call that office and make sure the two petitions are linked...you should be able to check that online.

I did the CR1 so it might be different then yours.

I actually got my interview assigned before my kids' petitions were even approved...after a couple of hurdles, they were able to interview with me.

and remember that whatever fees/documents you provide for yours will have to be the same for your child

Thanks for the info. Do you mind if I ask what kind of hurdles you had to overcome? Maybe your experience can help me! I feel much better knowing it's possible to fast-track my daughters petition - considering mine is already at the NVC.

  10. I also seem to have hit a brick wall - As many of the K-3's I've read. As of today Sept 12/06

    I-130 - NOA1 - Mar 13/06

    I-130 - NOA2 - Aug 3/06

Received notice by mail Aug 12

No other activity since. Have not received -NVC case #. last activity with BCIS case status was Aug 9

    I-129F - NOA1 - Apr 5/06

I-129F - RFE - IMBRA July 1/06 - never received in mail. Had to wait 30 days to request another mailing

Copy of RFE - IMBRA mailed Aug 9/06, received Aug 20/06 and returned. US Postal confirm receipt Aug 26/06. I have not received an update as yet. Last activity date with BCIS case status Aug 9

I am VERY VERY frustrated to say the least. We've called again, however, they say we have to wait the 30 days before they will confirm receipt -

    HELP!!!! Any suggestions?

Please call the NVC. The number is: 603-334-0700, then option 1 for English, then option 5 to speak with an operator live, Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to midnight eastern time. You may also email them at: NVCINQUIRY@state.gov

Make sure you write down the USCIS receipt number on the subject line when you email them.

Thank-you for the contact info. I spoke with them this morning and was update. NVC case # assigned and forms were generated last week.

    thanks again

  11. Your NOA2 was recd on your I130, have you called the NVC to see if they have your file there and have assigned a case number.....? I would be following up on that since the 30 days have gone by.

Thanks - I haven't called the NVC. Didn't realize I could call them seperate to NCSC. Does anyone know the # to National Visa Centre where you get a live body. What is the best method of communication? email, telephone?

Just looked at the website. Dah! Wish I'd thought of that before. You really gotta be on your game - don't ya!

Thanks again for the info. Much appreciated. Makes me feel like I'm getting somewhere - if really only a baby step forward!
