Hello,
I recently became a US Citizen through marriage. I am now in the process to petition for my parents for adjustment of status. I have a question about financial sponsorship.
I was a stay at home mom last year so my husband was going to be a joint sponsor but our income was not enough for our family size. (we are a family of 4 plus both my parents- income for a family of 6) We were about $5,000 short of the limit. My question is- would it be possible for me to get a job right now and submit proof (like check stubs) that I am working and add that income with my husbands? Or is it entirely based on last years income tax/W2s?
Thank you for the help.

I had my interview scheduled this morning 9am in Houston, TX. I arrived 25 minutes early. I checked in and as soon as I sat in the waiting room, my name was called. (For reference, I was sitting back in my car after the interview at 9:05!! So the interview lasted maybe 20-25 minutes) The officer was very nice! She asked me to read a sentence, write a sentence and asked me 6 civic questions. We went over my entire application. She asked me if I had any supporting documents such as lease or bills with both mine and my husbands name. I provided lease and asked her if she would like my tax transcripts. She took those documents and said that they were enough supporting documents. She asked me if I had traveled out of the country since I filed, I told her I did and that I had the dates but they were estimated dates and not exact, she said that it was fine as long as I wasn't out of the country for more than 6 months and took the sheet of paper with all the dates. She then congratulated me and said that she was going to approve my application. She did say that she always takes a 2nd look at her applications and would make a decision by the end of the day and that I should receive a notice in the mail with the Oath ceremony date. She said maybe in October or November. She also gave me a map and location of the Oath ceremony and what to take . Now to wait just a little more lol 😛

Use https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/history-search to get the exact dates over the last 5 years. You can correct your history at the interview.
Thank you for your reply!
I tried thorough the website that you provided but I did not use my passport when I traveled. My passport is actually expired, I just used my permanent resident card.
edit: I traveled by car across the border for a few days and did not travel further into Mexico.

Hello all, I been following everyones journey and I am finally able to say that I have my interview scheduled for Monday, September 10! I am very happy but the nerves are kicking in! I have been studying for the test and I'm confident in that area. What worries me is that I took some trips across the Mexican border for a few days throughout the years and I don't really remember the exact dates.. I estimated approximate dates on my application- does anyone have any information about what will happen? Thank you everyone.

I just added my info to the spreadsheet once again. I really liked looking at the progress that everyone is making. It would be great if anyone wants to add their information on the spreadsheet.. I know it's a hassle but maybe we could give it a try ONE more time? Please? lol It's super encouraging, especially seeing "CITIZENS" in our May spreadsheet!!

It is taking forever to be in-line for the interview. it's been 90+ days after my biometrics. Everyone (except few) seems to be in-line for the interview. Any advice for me?
I completely understand you. I did my biometrics on June 7 and today I finally received a notice that I am in line to be scheduled for an interview. I know it's hard to wait especially since it seems like everyones case is moving much faster but that's all we can do. Sending positive vibes your way so hopefully you receive a notice very soon!

I feel the same. I just want it to be done and be able to just stop thinking about it. Our GC still has years left but it's not the same.
I think lots of people were removed from that Google spreadsheet. I don't know why because people shouldn't touch it if they weren't sure what to do but I'm not sure if anyone is even checking it anymore because of all the deletes.
I was also removed. What a shame. 😔 Good luck and hopefully the process moves faster for you😊

Hi ge! I think it went great. First thing the IO asked was if I had any evidence to prove my bona fide marriage (she chose the Last Will + Medical POA, medical insurance cards and mortgage papers). She was super polite and formal. She went through some of the questions on the n-400, and proceeded with the civics questions (got the 6 right!), english writing and speaking tests. All in all it took maybe 30 minutes. She asked me what felt like ALL the Yes/No questions under Oath, and took a couple of minutes to review all my case. At the end she said she was recommending me for approval and congratulated me, said I would probably make it to the September Oath Ceremony.
My case was updated that same day to: Case Was Submitted For Quality Review Based On An Approval Recommendation and has not changed since (it's been 8 days). Hopefully I will be getting an Oath schedule update online and in the mail soon. It's almost over!
Good luck ge!!!
Wohoo! Congratulations!! 🎉 I'm happy that you are finally going to be done with this stressful process lol 😄 Btw, stay safe during the hurricane! ❤️

@alebrije Hi, how did your interview go?
-
Does anyone have a guess on how long should the wait be to be put in line for interview be? Like when should I start getting concerned? Because I read someone mentioned about getting "stuck" in the background check stage and I'm afraid of that happening to me. I been waiting since June 13.. Houston, Tx btw.
When does "priority date" come into play?
I been waiting.. but no update beside the weird text to check my online account but no change occurred..
Any insight would be great ❤️

Still waiting for my turn

I'm very happy for the people that are getting updates on their journey and are one step closer
Anyone else STILL in the "biometrics appointment was scheduled" phase online AFTER receiving a text message of a change happening but not reflecting online and not receiving an email either? 🤔

Friends - Same here, I received an SMS couple of hours ago. I checked online and my status remains as it was before. I went in line on June 2nd and waiting for interview date..
My profile still on the "we have scheduled you for biometrics appointment". I have completed the appointment a while ago so I'm ready to get "in line" 😬😂 I would have been fine still waiting.. but the text message with no online update messed with me hahaa we will see tomorrow 😊

Hi friends,
i have a question. I recieved a text message stating that my case had been updated and to check my online account. I thought great! And went to check but no changes had been made. I decided to check my email and I had not recieved an email either. Weird. I decided to wait and give it time but now I realize that it's Saturday (are updates done on Saturday as well?) I see that the text message came from a regular phone number instead of the 6 digits? (Does that make sense?) I tried looking the number online to see if anything linked up to USCIS but nothing, I just know it's a New Mexico phone number. I feel like I may be overthinking this but Im just wondering if anyone knows if all this is "normal" 🤔 Lol
I think I'm overthinking this because I've had my biometrics done on 6/13 and I've been patiently waiting and not even checking my case online but now I want some answers 😜hahaha
Thank you!

My original biometrics appointment was for 06/23/2017 and I did a walk in today 06/13/217. Just updated the spreadsheet.
@alebrije my biometrics was scheduled for the 290 support center office. Is that the office that you might have your biometrics at?
I went in around noon and was told by the security officer to return back at 3pm because they needed to get through the people that were scheduled for today first. I was there at 3:05 and I think they schedule the last person at 3pm. There office hours are from 8am-4pm. I was the last one. It took about 8 minutes. When I was leaving, there was no cars in the parking lot lol 😊
-
So, I want to try and do a walk in biometrics since the office is so close to where I live. Just wondering if those of you who have done one, have any advice? Lol Like what day and time of day you would recommend I go in? I know every office is different but I'm just wondering. Thank you 😊

Ge08, I got an email from USCIS said that they mailed the letter for fingerprinting today too. Hope I get the mail soon so I know the date.
Wohoo! 😊
I am thinking of trying to do a walk-in 🙃
Wouldn't hurt to try, right? lol
Hoping and crossing fingers that everyone is getting their biometrics letter super soon! I am happy every time someone's case gets updated because it means that we all are getting closer to our dream! 😊

The NOA is the confirmation of USCIS receiving and accepting your/our packets. The biometrics notice is a SEPARATE notice, but also technically a I-797C. Sometimes they can come very close together. For example, mine were days apart, for an appointment 2 or so weeks later.
To add some further details: my NOA lists out my DOB, address and then asks me "to verify the personal information and immediately notify our office at the address or phone number below if there are any changes. Upon receipt of all required record checks, you will be scheduled to appear for an interview at your local USCIS field office."
Okay, got it. Thank you for clarifying 😊
I just got an email from USCIS that they mailed an appointment notice for my biometrics today. My case did update as well on the USCIS website. Now to sit and wait for it to arrive in the mail lol

lovelyalex can you update my timeline please. Dont want to mess it up. I did my biometric today June 7th instead on the 9th this Friday.
Everything went smoothly inside except for that little boy running inside the office so, the guardian was told to take the boy out.
Yay! You're one step closer 😊
Just wondering, was it an appointment based biometrics on the 7th or was it a walk-in?
Calculating household size for 2 separate petitions?
in Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas
Posted
Hi, I'm sorry for all the questions but I am in the process of petitioning both my parents for adjustment of status and I am a little stressed out and over thinking lol Any help would be appreciated!
So, I am petitioning both my parents so I am filling 2 applications separately. They are here in the U.S. on an overstayed visa.
The income requirement is based off household size. How would I calculated it?
Me+husband+son+daughter(4)+dad(1)=. Hosehold of 5 for my dad's application?
Me+husband+son+daughter(4)+mom(1)=Household of 5 for my mom's application?
Or
Me+husband+son+daughter(4)+dad+mom(2)= Household of 6 for both applications?
The reason that I'm asking is because the income requirement is based off family size and I'm trying to figure it out.
Thank you!!
