  1. Hi, we have filed for a SSN for my wife (waiting 2 weeks after her arrival) but she was not in the database and they advised they would have to manually verify her information. She arrived on a K-1 Visa and we would like to get the AOS process started ASAP as we were married a week ago. Since she has not received a SSN yet can we still go ahead and file for the AOS or will we have to wait till her SSN is issued? Thanks!

  2. Hi all, we were approved on 12/20 for the K1 Visa and received the visa in the mail on 12/21. My question now is when my fiance arrives to the USA and she applies for the social security number will she be given a number that day or what is the wait time on that. Also since when you get a marriage license you usually fill in the person's social security number, would you just leave this blank and provide this information after the wedding to update the files at the courthouse? I'm curious because my fiance is arriving on 1/15 with the wedding on 1/20.

  3. Hi guys, just wanted to let yall know I just got off the phone with the NVC and they stated they had my case and provided a case #. The lady stated it hadn't been mailed yet, but I expect it'll be mailed within a day or two. Hopefully this provides a little hope for anyone still waiting in the 4 week range :)

  4. Coincidence?

Yesterday I faxed a copy of my NOA2 over to the NVC so that one of the reps can look into it. I faxed it over around lunch time to her. Later that evening (around 10 pm et) I called the NVC and guess what? They had my case and I received my case number from NVC.

So, at least this part is completed.

I plan on calling again this afternoon. Assuming they dont' have my case how did you convince the lady to look into the case further for you. I'd appreciate any tips you can give for my upcoming call this afternoon. Thanks!

  5. The National Visa Center has received your inquiry regarding WACxxxxxxxxxx. After searching our records, no information was found regarding this case. Please contact U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS- formerly known as INS) to verify the status of this petition.

What exactly does this mean. Does this just mean they have it but haven't processed into their system yet? Who should I contact next to get more information? Thanks!

  6. I just got an approval 1 minute ago.

This case has been approved. On September 27, 2006, an approval notice was mailed. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please speak to an Immigration Information Officer during business hours.

  7. On September 15, 2006, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case. The notice explains in detail what additional material is needed. If you have questions about the notice, what is required, or if 30 days have passed and you have not received the notice. Please contact the service center where you submitted your application during business hours.
