For what it's worth, I know your hurt! Move on with your life, do not have regrets, You know, he will pay and that pay will be ever so harsh, just you wait and see. Sometimes we do not want to see our loved ones hurt but you know, my motto is "what goes around, comes around." So hang it there, god has a purpose for you. You obviously are a good person because you were there every minute of the way and so, good things will come to you. I know it is easier said than done but have patience!!

Thanks for the encouragement. Everyone says that what goes around comes around. I am still having rage inside but I need to calm myself and let God talk to me. I just wish it was a year from now so that things will not be so painful. I have to take one moment at a time. I am overwhelmed with the encouragement on this web site. What a great support group. Who needs therapy?

  2. My fiance' and I have submitted a K1 visa application. She is from the Phillipines and I am from the US. I have been hearing a little about age difference being an issue with approval. I am 51 and she is 31. I realize this is a 20 year spread, but she is no teenager. I would think that it may be more of an issue if she were younger, say 18-25 and I was 38-45. We are almost 60 days into our wait after NOA1.

What do you VJ'es think? Will this be an issue?

    Thanks.

I am older than my soon to be ex-husband and yes it was an issue. But it depends on your and her maturity level.

  3. I used this site faithfully during the process of getting my husband from Morocco to here in the U.S. I wanted to let everyone know that on Sept. 20, 2010 my husband received his citizenship. On October 24, 2010 he left me stating that I have trust issues. Our marriage was wonderful up until that point. We never argued and got along wonderfully together, or so I thought. Then I found a conversation on the computer of him talking with another guy in Morocco who were fighting over a girl. My husband fell in love with her and wanted to get out of the marriage. Our divorce will be final tomorrow. I have lived through a winter of hell with all of the blame for the breakup of our marriage on my shoulders. Moroccan men and women are notorious for duping people. They have no remorse for what they do, they live in a shame based society. Their family will not give you an sympathy because women are just bodies with no minds there. Why is this woman trying to rain on our parade you ask? I never thought that this would happen to me. I bet you think the same thing too. I asked all of the right questions and did a lot of research on the culture but nothing prepared me for the ruthless heart of one who is so desperate to find a way out of his terrible situation. I cannot explain how hurt I feel. It will be hard to trust another, especially someone outside of my own country. I will get over this but please be aware the grass is not greener there, they usually don't have any grass.

  4. Hi Everyone!

It has been a while since I have been on this web site. My fiance, now husband, came to the U.S. in December. In January we were married. In February we filed the I765 and I485 forms with the government. We are now waiting on his employment authorization and change of status to permanent residence. Are there any others out there who are from Indiana and going through the same process? Will it take forever for him to get authorization to work? Also, can we claim the immigration expenses on our taxes next year?? Thanks for any responses that we may have.

  5. Hi All!!

My fiance's interview is on the 15th in Morocco. We are having a debate over providing information to the government. Here is the situation: He lived in Libya for 4-5 years. He says it is impossible for him to get a police certificate from there. Has anyone else had this problem before? If so, please enlighten me on what you did. The instructions did say that to get a police report from some countries is impossible and he is willing to tell them he lived there but he is worried that he will be denied the visa over this. Frankly I am a bit worried too since we have been waiting nearly a year for this to come to pass. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. :D

    POLICE AND PRISON RECORDS

    Unavailable.

No one here will tell you to withhold information.

Oh no, I would never encourage anyone to withhold information, that would be considered fraud in my book. I believe in the eyes of the government too. Thanks for the web site. I will tell my fiance not to worry anymore.

  7. My K-1 petition was approved on September 18, and NVC still doesn't have me on file yet... Evidently USCIS hasn't sent it out yet. I don't understand what is going on. I wish they have sent the approval on to Manila.

    Hello,

My K-1 Petition was approved on September 1st and was received at the Visa Center yesterday. It can take up to 6 weeks for them to receive it. You must be patient.

  8. Hello everyone!

My petition for Alien fiance was approved on September 1st. It is now 4 weeks later and the National Visa Center has not received my file\case yet. I was told to call USCIS and inquire, so I did. I was told that I just had to wait. Ok then. Is anyone else having this problem too??

Looks like a big batch may have just been sent - fingers crossed we are all in it!

How do you know that a big batch may have been sent?? Just curious.

  9. Welcome to VJ. Sounds like you have things covered so far. I hope you will be able to confirm with NVC your new case number and then with Casa to receive your appointment date. I also sent a new letter of intent to marry right before my then fiance's interview. Good luck on your journey.

    Doreen

    Hi Doreen,

I have been trying to be as proactive as possible with paperwork, which seems like that is I all I am doing. I printed the I-134 form from the USCIS web site. I used two pieces of paper and had it notorized. Will this be sufficient for the government? Do I need to make more copies? If so, how many? Do I need to make copies of the items I sent to the government initially for the I-129f and then send with the new info to my fiance?

  10. OK ladies, serve up your favorite recipe for harira, my husband's got a craving and I've never made it before! I trust things you have tried yourselves better than what I can get by googling :D

    Thanks in advance.

BTW, Maj brought some homemade Chabekia (sp?) back with him from Morocco, it didn't last long! Does anyone have a recipe for that?

    Sharon

    Here you go:

    Harira (Ramadan Soup)

Lamb soup bones or chicken (thighs) or roasted chicken carcass (1 pound)

    3 quarts water

    2 medium onions

1/3 cup dried chickpeas, soaked overnight (or 1 can chickpeas)

1 teaspoon turmeric or large pinch saffron

    1 teaspoon ginger

    ½ teaspoon black pepper

    Salt to taste

3 large tomatoes, peeled, seeded and chopped (or 1 large can chopped tomatoes in juice)

    ½ cup lentils

½ cup broken vermicelli or other small pasta, or rice

3 tablespoons flour mixed with 2 cups water to thicken soup

    lemons and dates for garnish

n Brown meat in oil, then add water and salt to taste. If using chicken leftovers, cook carcass in water.

n Remove meat from broth. Add onions, chickpeas and spices. Cook until chickpeas begin to soften (half hour if using dried). Remove meat from bones, chop to desired size and add to soup.

n Add tomatoes and lentils and cook until lentils are tender. Add pasta or rice, and cook until tender. Adjust seasonings, thicken with flour and water.

n Serve with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and a plate of dates.

  11. I am a newby to this site and so far I can say that I have been relieved to find a lot of helpful information. After what seemed like a long and arduous ordeal with getting the I-129f form approved, I am to wait more. My Petition for Alien Fiance(e) was approved on September 1st and has not yet reached the Visa Center in New Hampshire. I want to be as proactive as possible with the next step of the process. Can I pull the I-134 Affidavit of Support form from the USCIS web site and fill it out and forward to my fiance along with my tax returns from the past 3 years, and statement from my bank? :help:
