  1. Hi everybody,

I'm writing the update for any person who has the same as my situation.

In the oath ceremony I took my divorce paper. In the back of oath ceremony letter, There was some questions that one of them was if your marital status is changed after the first interview. I checked that question "Yes" anyway and wanted to show my paper to anyone who is interested to see that.

When an officer checked my paper to let me go inside, He asked if I'm applying based on 3 or 5 years. I said 5 years. Then he checked the no on that question and asked me to initial there.

So obviously they are not interested to your marital status at all if you are applying based on 5 years.

But in my certificate still is written married! The officer in InfoPass had told me that I can change my name or anything in my certificate anytime by paying $300 and send a request with proper forms.

  2. For your Update, I went to immigration office the day before yesterday with my Info pass appointment letter in hand. I explained my situation for officer and wanted to show my divorce evidence. At first she thought I have applied for my citizenship based on marriage and said you need to go to resolution table the day you go for oath ceremony and they will decide about it. But when I says I applied based on 5 years she reviewed my file again and said so why you are here? because you are fine and we don't care if you are still married or not. I explained for her that in my certification my marital status will be married but I'm divorced now and I need to fix it. She replied you can pay about $300 anytime and fix your certificate but you don't have to do that. then she explained that the marital status in your certificate is just for tax purposes and from now if your employer wants to hire you it's your responsibility to tell them that you are divorced because your certificate shows you are married.

Any way I will show my divorce paper to an office on June 20 in my oath ceremony too.

    Thank you for your help

  3. It has been 16 days since I got my citizenship interview, and I dt receive a letter yet yet. What should I do. Should I call uscis and what shoul I tell them when I call. Any advice will be appreciated .

You don't need to be worried. Mine took 36 days to see in my online status that my oath ceremony is scheduled.

    Just wait 3 more weeks.

  4. Still, you need to let them know about your marital status because that status will be showing up on your certificate of naturalization. Hence, I would still schedule an infopass and correct this before the oath so that you do not run into any problems afterwards, because you had to disclose your new marital status at the interview. This can cause you big headaches afterwards if you do not correct this now.

I tried to schedule an infopass but non of the options are related to my case. Should I call them or even go to immigration office to find a solution?

  5. I tried to schedule an inforpass appointment, it asks me to select one of these 4 options.

1-Order from Immigration Court - If you were directed to us for processing based on an order from the Immigration Judge. You must bring all documents required in the post order instructions given to you by the court.

2-Case Processing Appointment - If you received a notice to go to your local office for further case processing.

3-EAD inquiry appointment - If your I-765 employment authorization application has been pending for more than 90 days.

4-Case Services follow-up appointment - If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment.

But it seems non of those items are related to my case. Any more advice?

Thank you very much for your help

  6. Hi everybody

My citizenship interview was on April17 2012 and I passed the exam.

But I didn't get my oath ceremony letter yet and I'm getting worried about it. The reason is that when I applied my N-400 still my divorce file was pending so I had to write my wife's information. after a few month I received my final divorce evidence from court. I had my divorce paper with me in my interview but the officer didn't ask anything about it and I forgot to show him.

Now I think in review of my file they may figured out that I'm divorced but in my N-400 file i'm still married. Should I call them now and tell them about my divorce or I should wait until i hear from them.

    I appreciate any suggestion/advice.

(I should add I'm applying based on non marriage- 5 years)

  7. Is anybody in the same situation as I am ur reply will be appreciated

My online status still says "Your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION is now scheduled for interview."

But my interview was April 17 and the officer said congratulation to me.

  8. Well our experience in Hartford was certainly not pleasant today. My husband was called in after the 1.5 hour wait. We'd noticed that all of the USCIS folks who were calling people back there appeared to be one person who was in a really bad mood. And guess who it was who called my husband back for the interview? No smile or handshake to welcome him like all the others were doing with interviewees. She just pointed him back to room for the interview. Apparently from the swearing in to the end of the interview she was cold. And then afterward she tried to give me attitude when I inquired about document he was given. Her bitterness was palpable. Moving forward...

He passed the Civics and English tests without any problem. All of the personal information questions about us were fine as well. But the officer then began asking him specific dates of our trips to Ecuador (none of which were for more than a couple of weeks, nothing anywhere close to the max limit outside the US). She asked for the specific dates that he and I went together and for those trips that he traveled alone. Unfortunately my husband is terrible at remembering dates and we'd not practiced this when preparing for the exam. So he said that he couldn't remember exactly. She asked for the exact amount of time we'd lived at our previous address and for the address and phone number we used there (this was four years ago!). He said to me afterward that he was nervous and all of that info had completely slipped his mind. We had all of the evidence that we were requested to bring in the interview letter.

She gave him a form saying that she'd mail us an N-14 form. I assume that the form will request evidence of our having filed taxes for 2011. Even though that was not a requested doc in our interview letter, she requested to see that and we hadn't taken a copy of the submitted tax docs with us this morning. I'm wondering what else might be requested...

My interviewer was not nice too. Once I followed him to his office I just felt myself in a army camp and he is my commander. I completely lost my mind but fortunately I had memorized history questions and I didn't need to think about any of them. he knew that I'm nervous and frequently said relax, relax, relax! but with his special tone even this made me more nervous! No smile at all.

  10. Your case actually freaked me out! I'm still married but we separated 4 years ago and that's why I applied for my citizenship after 5 years. Is it possible that they ask about my marriage or ask me to show them any evidence that our marriage was not fake? we were married about 7 years before we get to US and used to live together in our country.

  11. Hi my friends,

I moved to US by IR1 visa but after a while our relationship didn't work and we are separated now. So I didn't apply for my citizenship after 3 years and I waited for two more years. I want to apply for my citizenship in a few months from now but we are still married and we didn't register divorce paperwork yet.

My question is that, should I apply for my citizenship on the basis of marriage and send all related documents with n-400?

    Thanks

  12. I believe at least you need to report to immigration that he never came with you. They are sensitive about middle eastern people and will track him to know what he does and where he lives. Don't forget that immigration officers are allowed to gives back his green card anytime they feel he is not a right person to be in USA. So far he said lie about coming to you and it can be enough to arrest him and send him back to Pakistan.

  13. I have checked the adoption regulation. The girl should be lived with your boss who wants to adopt her, at least 2 years before applying for adoption. your boss need to be US citizen.(I don't understand why she couldn't get back to US) Also all local adoption process in Thailand should be done before she applies for adoption in US. I think there are some inconsistencies in this case.

  14. I heard about some children who their parents crossed the border of mexico illegally and stays in a house as maid or workers. The children was born or brought to US illegally also. they've never studied in school or any college and don't have any ID. their parents born those children with hope of being legal but then they forgot about their destiny. It's so sad but truth. unfortunately the only action that immigration office do is returning them back to their origin country.
