I wanted to chime in here after lurking for a while.

I was also a May 2020 filer. I received my interview notice in January after submitting a FOIA request in December. That could be related or not. I've had my interview in February and my oath is scheduled for this week.

My heart does go out to all that have waited this long but I wanted to let folks know that things are moving for some of us. I hope this batch gets finally processed as it has been too darn long.

    Congratulations

Thank you, I submitted my FOIA yesterday. Hope that this move things

  2. Hi Everyone,

I submitted my N-400 on May 1st, 2020, and I've done my biometrics on July 8th 2021 in Seattle . Ever since that the only status I have is that they are actively reviewing my case.

I looked at USCIS processing times and seems I can't inquire and submit an “outside normal processing time” service request (since it's after April 15, 2020)

I looked at the tracking here in the forum and it seems all people who applied around that timeframe in 2020 already got their citizenship

My service center is in Seattle

is there anything I can do or just wait? Is there a reason to panic?

It has been very frustrating, I know the pandemic didnt' help but it's almost 2 years now.

    Thank you

    Hi @za3bour

It seems rather random what they ask for. I wrote back saying that the DS-5507 is to (which it says on the form itself) "determine if a U.S. citizen/national parent(s) has met the statutory physical presence or residence requirements to transmit U.S. citizenship to his/her child born abroad.." and that I don't meet these requirements (but that I am instead claiming citizenship through the Child Citizenship Act). That did the trick, they let go of the DS-5507. So I'd advise on reading up and writing back to them.

Unfortunately for me, they are still stuck on one issue (just got another reply from them the other day). They still don't like the Swedish birth certificate, so it seems I will have to pay to do the DNA testing :-(

    Good luck!

    /S

    Thanks a lot

Yea we did that and thank God they got the citizenship. Good luck to you

You are looking at it the wrong way and might be overbearing on the situation: No one is denying them the right to be citizens, since they are ALREADY citizens. If they fulfill the the requirements, the CCA already made them that. You do NOT need a passport to be a citizen (over half of all Americans don't even own a passport). A passport will make it ofcourse easier proving USC. If they give you a hard time in Santa Cruz, just srew them and go to the DOS passport agency in San Francisco.

We received the letter from Virginia. The office here were helpful and sent the papers by email. I agree with you that they are already citizens but it seems whoever sent us the letter disagree because he is asking us to prove something that is not required to start with.

And the money we paid is not refundable

If you don't have a CRBA denial letter that might be the issue with them. It doesn't matter where you are from, the law is the same for every nationality. Usually an immigrant visa only can be issued, if there is denial of CRBA. However if they give you problems, just head to the DOS passport agency in San Francisco.

Thank you. We will call and see. It's their rights to be citizens so we will not give up at all we will go all the way.

Do they have CRBA denial letter? Were you asked for it?

Not a denial. They submitted a form to prove that my wife lived in US before she was 18 which she didn't (only until 5).

That's actually while we immigrated because at the us embassy they refused to give the kids a US Passport.

    Immigrant visa.

We have green cards which we submitted with all the papers. They are in school already. We have all the requirements for the child act of 2000.my only worry is that we are originally from Syria. There is no law that prevent the kids from being American though. We will call them today and see. Thanks

  8. Thanks for helping out.

My wife is an american citizen, we immigrated to the USA few months back. When we submitted the passport request for our two daughters they asked my wife to proof that she has been living in the USA for 5 years etc. (which she didn't that's why we didn't apply for their passports overseas). What can we do now? YOu would expect whoever is handling the passports to know the child act of 2000...

  9. Well I am currently going through the same process it's really strange. My wife is an american citizen, we immigrated to the USA back in July 2017 and we're currently in California. Kids are already at school and my wife is working.

She didnt live in the USA as an adult, she left USA when she was 5 years old and only came for few weeks until July 2017.

We submitted our papers for the two kids to get the US passports and they have sent back (after 3 weeks) asking for a bunch of documents plus the DS-5507 form. I also need an advice on what we need to do. What's really strange is that her sister is in the exact same situation and they submitted passports for their kids (one year before us and got them in Portland/OR).

my thoughts to you is to give them the DNA since this is the only thing they requested.

  10. Just an udpate, we actually got a call from USCIS after filling an inquiry (which was nice). they told us that this is normal and that it might take up to 4 months and that we were lucky to receive them in such short notice (which is true indeed). they said it's not necessary to treat us as family and therefore receive all cards at the same time.

Now we can only wait for it to arrive.

Error message is not uncommon unfortunately. The arrival of 2 cards so quickly is very unusual!! But separating  family members who arrived together is not. My husband received his card in 5 weeks... mine took 7 months !! It will come

    Oh wow :D

Yea it was really weird that her didnt' come, I thought mine will be delayed because I'm a man, old etc. but didn't expect the kid to be left out. I just submitted an inquiry through their website but I know they are slow..

We are blessed that ours arrived really quick, I need it to open a bank account.

    Regards
    Tarek

  12. Hi

We came to USA on July 18th, family based immigration. Me, two daughters and my wife (american citizen).  I have received two green cards (today which was fast) for me and my little daughter however i didn't receive my elder daughter one (she is 9)

When I tried to check using the receipt I receive the following error

    Validation Error(s)
You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:

    • User-Defined Error

Is this normal?  I tried to call USCIS but it was too late they are closed for the weekend

  13. I got a nice offer from T-Mobile

two lines for 100$/mo (including taxes etc.) unlimited everything also data and it's unlimited in Canada/Mexico.

I'm not sure about the coverage in your area but here in California it's pretty good. THey do have other cheaper plans as well and hte best part is that there is no contract.

  14. Hi, I'm Syrian too and we moved in recently.

I would definitely check with Bank of America, they do need two forms of verification (e.g. passport) and try to get a state ID since getting a driver license might be harder for you.

I don't think they have the right to refuse to open it, I'm not aware of any specific law that prevent Syrians from opening a bank account which is essential if you want to live and work legally in USA>
