HI,
I've been a permanent residence for 2.5 years and have been married to my U.S. citizen husband who works for the US government. Do i need to wait to complete 3 years of residence to apply for naturalization ?
From the below context (quoted from the table on page 22 of http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/M-476.pdf) , does it mean I don't have to wait complete 3 years ? Please help me understand (english is not my first language.)
Here is the context:

• An employee of a public international organization of which
the United States is a member by law or treaty; or
• A person who performs ministerial or priestly functions for a
religious denomination or an interdenominational
organization with a valid presence in the United States
and
You will be proceeding to join your spouse whose work
abroad under orders of the qualifying employer will
continue for at least 1 year after the date you will be
naturalized. Form N-400 should be filed prior to departing.
Time as Permanent Residence:

sorry to hear about that. Can you try another bank that didn't require SSN?
When I first moved to the US for school I didnt have SSN and I used my passport to open bank account with no problem. Did you try Citibank? Good luck

Thank you so much for all your postings. They are very helpful and I feel better that i'm not alone.
In my card, they added "N" as an initial of my middle name while the bottom line of the card, "NMN " was printed next to my first name. If NMN means no middle name, the two info is totally conflicting on one card
Tulpen,
Could you please keep me posted when you hear back from uscis or when you get a new card ? I want to know approximately how long it takes to process this.
I'm going to call them this monday. I'll keep you post about my case & timeline too.
What service center did you mail your card to ? Should I mail it to the service center that its address was printed on the letter that comes with the greencard? I was told by the rep to fax my case to Vermont service center since I live in New York ( I filed my I485 package to Chicago tho).
However, I just checked in I-90, it says
" please refer to the letter that came with your I-551 card, also known as "Green Card". This letter provides the address for the Service Center/NBC that processed your previously filed I-90 application ".
I'm confused why the rep told me to contact Vermont since the service center addressed in the letter which comes with my green card is Missouri.
Lastly, what are supporting documents do you use? ( are passport, and birth certificate enough supporting doc ? )
Million thanks & good luck with you too!!!

Hi there,
I went for the AOS interview on Aug28. I received a welcome notice a few days after in my mailbox. I dont have middle name but I found they added a letter "N" as my middle name in the welcome letter.
I called the customer service center and the rep told me that it could only be a mistake from a person who typed the welcome notice and the error might not be shown on the green card. She suggested I wait until I receive the actual card.
Today (Sep 8 ) , I received my green card with that error on it.
Does anyone have similar experience or have problem with misspelling or typo error on the green card ? What do I need to do ? Do I need to mail the greencard back or can I keep this card ? Is there any form to
file or expense regarding this ?
How long does it take to get a new card ? My concern is that I plan to travel outside the US next month. I dont wanna cancel the trip .Can I use this green card or should i wait till I receive a new one ?
Since I dont have middle name, in my I-485 application, I put "NONE" in the middle name field.
I think it's possible that they understood that my middle name is "NONE"
English is not my first language and I thought I can put " none " can also means " dont have any " . I should have put N/A
In the general filing instruction, it says please answer all questions. If the answer is none, write none.
Among all the letters I got during my case is being processed, only the last two notices ( welcome notice & petition approval notice ) have the initial of middle name printed out . For the rest of the letters , only last name and first name are shown. There is no way I could verify this error ealier..
One last thing is that in the green card, last line
LASTNAME<<FIRSTNAME<<NMN, anyone knows what NMN is ?
I 'm new to this site but I hope my case would be helpful for other people.
Thanks a lot for your time and help!!
Applying for US Passport - Certificate of Citizenship
in US Citizenship General Discussion
Posted · Edited by smileyDandelion
I'm applying for a us passport in person. It requires Certificate of Citizenship to be submitted with Form DS-11.
Can I submit a photocopy of Certificate of Citizenship or it needs to be an original document?
Since I'm applying in person which means I have to show the original document to the officer anyway, can I submit the photocopy after showing the original ?
When I received the Certificate of Citizenship at the oath ceremony, I was told not to lose it otherwise it would cost a lot of money & take a long time to get a new one.
It's been such a long process to get this certificate. I'm trying to avoid any chance to lose it at all cost. If I submit the original one and it gets lost somehow.. who will be responsible for it ?
Thank you for your help!
