No problem. Go to this site https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ and log-in with your case number and Invoice number to see if they have unlock your DS-261 form and AOS payment option (Under Fee Payments), then you can start your NVC process (you don't have to wait for welcome letter if they have already unlocked your DS-261 form and AOS payment option). NVC steps are as follows

Please take the following actions: To begin processing your immigrant visa application, go to our website at
nvc.state.gov (English) or nvc.state.gov/espanol (Spanish). There, you can read detailed instructions on the six
steps you are required to take:
Step 1: Choose an agent (please allow up to three (3) weeks for processing before continuing to Step 2)
Step 2: Pay fees online at ceac.state.gov (allow up to one (1) week for processing before continuing to Step 3)
Step 3: Submit visa application form online at ceac.state.gov
    Step 4: Collect financial documents
    Step 5: Collect supporting documents
Step 6: Submit financial and supporting documents in one package to NVC

if you dont mind can you please explain step 1 and step 2 in details? its a little confusing. why do they mention to wait 3 weeks and another 1 week? are we not suppose to submit all required documents in that time...?

Have you received ur invoice number yet? Call them late night so you will have less waiting time

    thanks bhaiyya,

by your username i noticed you're bengali.... so am i! i called today and the representative said they received my case from uscis today and gave me a invoice # and case # over the phone. they also asked me if i wanted to be notified via email or regular paper mail. i said email so she said its faster that way and i'd get the actual nvc welcome letter by email within next 2-3 days! SO SO happy that it's moving along! meanwhile im having my husband get the police clearence ready in bangladesh to send over. you know that takes some time...

That is an easy one.... They will wish you to go by the very latest date. Go by the earliest.... Aug 21st.

It took 3 weeks from NOA2 Aug 14th to NVC receiving it from Texas Sept 6th.  You should call mid week and perhaps they will have it.

I was told when I called it may take 2 weeks for them to enter it into their system and assign an NVC #. That's when things should begin to move quickly.

I will start calling again next Friday Sept 15th.

Make sure you are ready to provide the docs and cash ahead of time to avoid delays!

    All the best!

thank you for all the info...really appreciate it. i get so dissapointed every time i call NVC and they say they have not received it. its been almost 3 weeks since august 21st and still nothing. i guess i'll call as you said next friday and see what they say.

They say wait 30 days to call NVC! But after waiting 201 days for Texas to approve I only waited about 10 days.

1st call nothing except being told it could take 6 weeks for them to receive it from Texas. Its a 5 hour flight!!!

    17 days 2nd call, nothing.

3rd call Friday. They received it on the 6th of Sept.

PD Jan 23rd. NOA 2 August 14th.  Sent to NVC Aug 29th.

I say in order to stay on top of this part of the process call early call often.

Best of luck to everyone! Next week will bring great news for some of you enjoy the weekend!!!

they say wait 30 days to call NVC. I got my NOA 2 on August 21st. but the uscis website says "On September 1, 2017, we sent your case, Receipt Number ________ to the Department of State for visa processing". which date should i go by? is it 30 days from Aug 21st or Sep 1st?

The countdown is from the approval date - august 21. It takes about 2 weeks for NVC to get your case and assign a case no. You can call to get the case no and Invoice no on the phone. Make sure they have your email, so you can get your invoices via email. There is an NVC filers thread you should join.

what exactly is a invoice #? i thought they only give a case number. i havent heard anything back since Aug 21st.. still waiting for the NVC welcome letter. also, can you please link the thread...thank you! i appreciate it.

  7. For those of you that got approved, i have a question:

i got approved Aug 21st (got a letter in the mail). today, Sep 1, my status finally changed on the uscis website saying that on Sept 1 they sent my documents to Department of State. so which date should I go by? is it gonna take 6 weeks from today to get NVC welcome letter or did the countdown start from Aug 21 when i got my approval letter (NOA 2)??? help..kind of confused

My PD is feb 27, Texas service center. I am still waiting for NoA2! Any other feb filers waiting?

i got approved Aug 21, 2017. my pd is feb 27. yours might be on its way. dont depend on the uscis website updating when you put in your case #. check your mail daily. i got it in the mail and website still says "received"...so i wouldnt depend on that.

I called them last Friday and the tier1 office said the stuff that I already know. I will call them again and ask for a tier2 officer. Thanks for the info.

i just called and spoke to a Tier2 officer. unfortunately he just gave me the same exact info that the Tier1 gave, basically stating that TSC is processing Oct cases. he was just going off of the processing chart on the USCIS site...

sigh.... theres no point calling. I guess i just have to wait & see what happens.

I know you are going to think I'm crazy, but I sent a message to every couple that's has been approved in Texas the  last 2 months and I asked them if they were residents or us citizens and most of them we're us citizens. So they are really processing January  for us citizens, at least most of the I 130 files... so i hope everyday we're going closer to our dates 🙏🏼🤞

no judgement here...i dont think you're crazy at all. im glad you did that. it helps the rest of us get an idea as to what month TSC is "really" on. thanks :)
