Your DS260 (assuming this is a DV case) doesn't get "approved", it gets processed by KCC and then you wait till your number becomes current. At that point you will get scheduled for an interview - you'll get an email to tell you your selection page has been updated and you'll find the interview details there. This usually happens about 4-6 weeks before the interview, and you won't hear anything before then. It is only a consular officer at interview who will approve or deny your application for a DV visa.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

We encountered the same problem while filling all the addresses after the age of 16, so how did you go around this problem ?

Please reply because even i had faced the same problem and my attorney handling the application said that he would just put one address and we could carry the entire list of the addresses with us and provide if asked in the interview.

Can any one suggest if this is ok to go about ?

The problem in my case was the autofill. I only started writing my the first letters of my address and it would suggest the whole address and I clicked on it, but I didn't look above. When I autofilled the information above was messed up, so double check. For example: I wrote the first address and put the dates, the second address was suggested, I clicked on it, and the dates for my first entry disappeared. That's why I received an error. I hope it's not too confusing. If it is, let me know, we can talk on Skype. Also, keep in mind that there shouldn't be a time difference of more than 1 month between the dates.

In my case, I lived in the US, then home, then Germany, then back home... you HAVE TO put all addresses, even if the home one repeats many times.

  3. If anyone else experiences this, I realized what the problem was. Whenever I introduced that address mentioned above, autofill filled out the information such as zip code, city, etc. However, I didn't look at the address I wrote above it. Autofill also changed the dates to the address before that. Double check all your entries and click save. What I did was: once I filled an entry and knew it was correct, I moved on to the next one without looking at the previous entry (because I knew it was correct) and without even thinking that autofill might automatically change the answers for you. So double check.

  4. As I am writing down all the addresses where I lived since I turned 16, there's one entry in particular that the program doesn't like. I lived at a place from 2006 to 2016. Whenever I introduce this data and I click SAVE or ADD NEW ADDRESS, the computer kicks me out of my application and the following message appears: "You have encountered an application error. Please try again later."

I can add any other dates/location and it would work fine. My wife's part of the application is fine. It is only this entry that is the issue. Is that because it's more than 10 years? Why would that be? Of course, I tried again later and the next day. Nothing changes, I get the same message. Anyone else encountering this or any idea what this might be?

  5. I'm completing the DS260 form and it asks about all the addresses I lived since I turned 16. I am mentioning all the addresses, but will I need to provide proof for that? Such as rent contract, police records (to check my background)? If so, I'm not sure how I can provide this info for some places where I lived more than 15 years ago. Why is this information necessary?

Also, the same goes for all my previous employment. Will I need to provide confirmations from my previous employers? One company closed and I don't know how to contact my previous manager.

So, my question is: will I have to provide confirmations for all the info I write in my DS form?

  6. Hi, our daughter is 5 months old. We can add her to our DS 260 file now. Should we (the parents) complete her part of the application as well? Or are children this age exempt from completing the form? She doesn't have a passport yet, just a birth certificate. The form asks for information about the passport. Should we go ahead and get her a passport asap or send in the form as it is and get her a passport closer to our interview date or before departure to the US? Thanks!

  7. Thank you for your answers. They are really helpful! The J1 requirement expires next summer. How do you identify if the case number is low or high? Also, is there a deadline by when a candidate has to submit the DS-260 form? Meaning, if I submit my DS in half a year won't that be too late?

It would be great if I could delay DS. We had a baby a few weeks ago and we're now in the process of getting her birth certificate and passport. This might take half a year.

  8. Hi everyone,

I've been selected for the DV lottery 2018! So happy! My wife currently has a J-1 visa with a 2-year homestay requirement. She's almost done with the first year and has one more to go. Do you know if she's eligible as my dependent?
