  1. Sorry I posted this in the wrong area at first  . This is the situation: My wife has her permanent resident card for the first 2 yaers that expires on sept 24. We were planning to go on a cruise the second week of Oct. I plan on filing as soon as I can but, do you think we will be able to get it approved by then or will they get me something in time to let her leave the country? I am buying the tickets this weekend. But I would like to get some advice first. thanx for the help.

  2. OK I really can't find the answer so I need some help. My wife has her conditional residency right now that expires on Sept 24. We were planning on taking a cruise to the bahamahs and st martin the second week of OCT. I am planning on filing as soon as I can but I knw that I have to wait 90 days before it expires to file . So I was wondering if we can leave the country while we are waiting. They might reply quickly but if it doesn't get approved before OCT, can we go? I have to buy the tickets this weekend. What do you think? Much love for your help.

BTW by conditional residency I mean that she has her CR-1/ Permanent Resident Card-which is only good for the first 2 years

  4. Hey everybody,

Long time gone but I wanted to tell everyone that everything you are going through right now is all worth it. It is the hardest thing I have don e and now I am getting ready for the change over to no restrictions on her gree card this summer. But stick with it. Trust me. And everyone who has kept this thread alive: you guys are awsome.

PS- s-luvs-k is on the inside of my wedding ring now.

  5. just wanted to say hi to everyone. I'm glad that this has been a good place for eveyone to talk. My wife and I are living in TN. We never had any problems getting her a green card. But now we are thinking about moving to Japan in a couple of years to help her parents. We just visited them in March. They live in Kawasaki. If anyone (or your fiancee) knows of Jobs for gaigin please let me know. Also if someone knows what is required to get a good job teaching english there I would appreciate it.

P.S. My wifes interview was in Tokyo and it went really easy. However I do not suggest calling the embasy for help. They told my wife wrrong info when she called. Thankfully I knew it was wrong already. But if you need help I will try if you have questions.

  6. I agree with most of the things that you said. I have a book that helps out with marriage. It is called The Secret To Family Happiness. If anyone wants a copy just let me pm me your address and I will send you a copy, no charge. It has helped us a lot.

  7. :help: Here is the situation. I am getting married on July 7 Using the K-1 visa for my fiancee from Japan. Does anyone know if it possible to go on a honeymoon in the Carabian? I kno that after they enter the US it is hars for them to leave for 2 years. But what about the Carabian? Does that mean we have to stay in the US for our honeymoon? Any help is appreciated. Or if you know anywhere in the US that has really awsome beaches on the east coast or Gulf of Mexico, that would be good for ma honeymoon, let me know. Thanks,

    Sadly you cannot.

D and I wanted to go on a cruise, but after reading the rules and also checking with an attorney on this matter, it's clear to us that this is not allowed as he would have no AP therefore cannot leave the country after marriage and be allowed back in.

Key West is great....it's one of our fave places to go

as far as the USVI and PR, you might want to check whether having a cruise go into international waters would make a difference to the fact that you're simply traveling to a US territory. But a cruise would have multiple stops so I'm thinkin it's not going to be likely this would work out.

What if we fly to PR or the USVI? would they let us go there? If not where would you recomend to go in Key West for a good beach, motel, ect.

  9. Hey I just thought that this might help for everyone that is filing for ones in Japan. You can see mine in the photos under In america. The one that I said looks like a clothing Ad. Right now we are at the package 3 stage. Interview soon we hope. So if you need help on K-1 or such, or have suggestion for me for past this step lets help each other.
  10. Ok. My fiancee just got the third package. She told me that there is a request for an updated "intent to marry letter". But what I am confused about is that it also said to ask for extention on the I-129 form. I am not sure why they want this because shouldn't they schedule the interview in about 1 month after they get package 3 back? The I-129 doesn't run out till the middle of May. Why do they want this?

Also I was wondering if anyone knows how a cosponsor should file the I-134 if they had a joint tax return. My mom and dad are both self employed but my mom's name is on all the cheques but my dad's nome is first on the tax return. Who should be the one to fill out the I-134a?

I am self employed but am starting a new job next week. Will they accept my I-134 with the statement that I am going to make this much from now on?

  11. Hi, I am a student, as many of the other people who were writing on this topic. But I live in Poland, not the US, and give private English lessons. My fiance will be interviewing in Moscow, though we are just now preparing the I-129F. He makes more money than I do, and is saving for our trip. Does he still need a sponsor or co-sponsor? If he brought his own bank statements to the interview would they accept this? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks. Milena.

When he goes for the interview. The I-134a says that you may count income that is deposited in US banks. The I-134 is your way of saying that you cab support them so that the US won't have to. I would just get a sponser if I was you. The I-134a is not as strict as the I-864. That is the one you have latter at the AOS interview.

  12. Looks good. 3 area's to mention though. (1) you acctually don't need her birth certificate to file the I-129. She will need the original for the interview later though. (2) COPY COPY COPY. Make 3 copies of everything. The first you send in. The second you send to her before her interview. A few embassys have asked for something from the I-129 package but it varies. And the last copy is in case anything gets lost in the mail. (3) Copy the pictures you are sending. Remember you do not get these back.

I got the NOA2 already. And it took about 3 months so here's hoping for you.

  13. If your fiancee lives in Japan and you get the approval for the I-129, then they will send her a package telling her what she needs to bring to the interview. My fiancee is in Kawasaki City. I had her call the police there to ask how long it will take since our I-129 was approved already we are waiting for the package to come to her. They told her to bring in the letter from the packet and that after that it would take about 1 week. I do not know if it is different if they are not Japanese citizens or not. I hope this helps.

  14. I got my NOA2 almost 2 weeks ago. I haven't heard from the NVC yet but I need to know about the Support document that I have to send her. I am self employed now. (I wasn't when I filed at first) But the I-134A says that if I am self employed then I have to submit my tax return for last year. I didn't earn a lot of money last year but have a letter from where I was explaining why( I was a full time voluntereer). But I am making ok now. Do I need to get a job from a company so that they can say that I have a ----- anual income? I have 2 ones willing to be sponsors. One is my parents. The other is a rich lady that I know. What do you think? Am I in trouble or or can I still get the visa being self-employed. Thanks for your help.:help:
