I emailed CFO to get the facts, here is the response I got back.  If you do not hold a K-1, IR-1 or CR-1 visa you are to attend PDOS.

You are an FA so you attend PDOS.

I hope this fixes all the confusion (and my misguided info  ).

We wish to inform you that the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) operates from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please be advised that all Filipinos leaving the country as emigrants or spouses and other partners of foreign nationals are required to register with the CFO and attend the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS), the Peer Counseling or the Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP), which ever applies depending on your visa. These seminars normally last for 2-3 hours.

The PDOS is required for family-based, company-sponsored, and independent class emigrants while the Peer Counseling is for emigrants ages 13-19. The attendance in the CFO’s PDOS and Peer Counseling in Manila and Cebu is done on online registration. Click this website http://www.cfo.gov.ph/rnr-pdos.html for you to have an online appointment/reservation.

The GCP is required for fiancé or spouse of foreign national, dual citizen or former Filipino citizen. The attendance in the CFO’s GCP in Manila and Cebu is done on online registration. Click this website http://www.cfo.gov.ph/gcp.html for you to have an online appointment/reservation.

If you are a visa holder with a category of K1, CR1 or IR1, you are required to attend the Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP), if none of these three is your visa category, then you are required to attend the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS).

For more information, attached are the flyers for PDOS and GCP.

For further clarification, please call us at telephone numbers (632) 552-4740 to 46 and (632) 552-4712 to 14.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

I was thinking of that too. I know it's not GCP. Thank you for the response, sagot. I wasn't trying to correct you or anything, but I apologize if I did say something wrong

I'm on the same spot. Does that mean if your husband is a Filipino, and a green card holder, means that he is a Pacific islander?

I have no idea. I think you can put Pacific islander on your husband's citizenship, if he is not a us citizen yet.

  3.

In your situation, regarding CFO ... yes.

Here is the line of thinking on CFO and GCP... 1) you are a spouse (or fiancee).  2) you are getting a visa and moving to a foreign country.

GCP = spouses & fiancees    PDOS = all others.

So, I'm here registering. Please guide me if I'm not doing it correct.

    1. My answer would be no, right? Since he's filipino.

    2. That would be yes, since he has a green card, am I right?

    3. I don't know what to do with this because there is no selection of Filipino citizen.

    4. I put yes, since I passed the interview and will obtain visa.

Is this correct? Please correct me if I'm wrong

CFO makes it pretty clear that GCP is for spouses and fiancees.  If others are saying PDOS let them produce a link from CFO showing that spouses and fiancees attend that seminar.

The CFO link Sagot provided shows GCP is correct seminar

So green card holder is considered former Filipino? (Just wondering)

Sorry, I didn't understand. It kinda threw me off when I read like foreigner husband or something cause my husband is a Filipino. So that's why I was questioning it here.

Everything should be good to go then.

Sorry to bug you again, but a lot of people are telling me to get pdos, others told me to get gcp. I'm married to a LPR, not a citizen. Give me a light to shed in this dark please

  7. I already registered online. It was set for delivery in my hometown which is in a province, but I'm staying in manila. I want to change it to where I can pick up in manila so I don't need to go back and fourth. Should I call the embassy or 2go for changes?

One lady got denied? Any idea why? Congrats to you though!

I think she didn't have enough evidence, I glanced a little and seems like she wasn't able to speak properly when she was being asked by the consul.

  9. Woke up today at 4 AM, only slept about 3-4 hours. Can't really concentrate, and I just wanna get it over with. Had breakfast, and got ready. My husband's family side aunt came along with me. We took Grab to get to the embassy. Around 5:15 AM.. hoo boy, the line was already long. From there I lined up and kept praying that I would get through this. So it took awhile for the line to get moving. My scheduled interview was 8:10 AM. Before I got in, I gave my phone to my aunt in law. From there they asked for my documents like ds260 confirmation, then of course, the dreaded screening along the way.

TL;DR, so you won't get bored. I got into the first counter. Was a Filipina and asked me particular question. (As far as I can remember, and not in order):

    -Who is your petitioner?

-Who does he do for a living?

    -What's his address?

    -How long we've known together?

    -When was the wedding?

-Then she asked my age and my husband's age.

-Then she confirmed to me if the address was right once again.

    -......same with the wedding date.

It took me about 10-15 mins with her, then she told me to wait.

Then it's 4th Quarter of game 7. GSW vs. Cleveland, 113 GSW and 115 CLE...3 second on the shot, and Curry handling the ball... Anyways, thats how I felt when I walked thru the window when my number was called. I was with LeBron James, err.. sorry a female consul. She smiled at me and asked me to do oath. Then confirmed my name, address, my husband's job and I was off to go. Whew, it wasn't even 2 minutes and I'm already out. I didn't go to a 2go counter and I'm assuming it was already done thru medical (Correct me if I'm wrong). I felt bad, the lady next to me who was for a fiance visa, got denied. Well, I am glad I passed, thank you Lord. I got out and gave good words to my aunt in law and called my family about me passing. My husband was happy. Now CFO should be a piece of cake. Let's hope so..

No issue for spouses and fiancees to complete the GCP seminar without a passport.  Get it done and have the certificate, then swing by later once you have your passport with visa to get the sticker.

Thanks for the response, I'm trying to fill up the online appointment scheduling, is it ok if I leave the visa blank?
