Yay for no interview too ;)

    Hi xjennyinstereox,

Can you please answer the quesiton Jasminelilly asked.

"Could please let us know if you got your approval e-mail and card production e-mail at the same day or not? It looks like they're really updating online for your case. Thanks!"

I will all of us who are waiting.

    Thanks.

Sorry guys. For some reason, I didn't receive email notifications about your replies. I received 2 card production emails. I got the the first email on Friday, the 26th of June and got another card production email today. They were both the exact same email. I did not get any other emails saying my case was approved.

Should I have received another email saying the case was approved?

  2. Hello all,

I was wondering if you could help out with a question that I have. My sister has dual citizenship. She has Canadian citizenship (born and raised in Quebec) and also has EU Citizenship (Portuguese). She has been living abroad in Ireland for quite some time and will be returning to Canada in late summer.

She does not know which passport to use when returning, as she has been outside Canada for longer than 6 months, but would like to return back to Canada to make it her permanent home once again. She is thinking she will use her Canadian passport to leave Ireland so she can return to Canada using her Canadian passport. I know it's not smart to travel with two passports, but she did for whatever reason.

Will she encounter issues when she returns to Canada if she uses her Canadian passport? Will she be penalized for being out of the country for longer than 6 months? Any advice/information would be greatly appreciated.

  3. She can apply to sponsor your Father: link

    Who can be sponsored

    You can sponsor:

    parents

    grandparents

brothers or sisters, nephews or nieces, granddaughters or grandsons who are orphaned, under 18 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship

another relative of any age or relationship if none of the above relatives could be sponsored, and you have no other relatives who are Canadian citizens, persons registered as Indians under the Indian Act or permanent residents and

accompanying relatives of the above (for example, spouse, partner and dependent children).

My father doesn't need to be sponsored... the father of the baby wants to be able to live in Canada with my sister and their baby.

The only thing I see that might apply is: accompanying relatives of the above (for example, spouse, partner and dependent children). The father of the baby would be my sister's partner (they are not married)

  4. My sister is currently living in Ireland. She is a Canadian citizen and also has her EU citizenship through my dad (born in Portugal). She is moving back to Canada to have the baby. The father is trying his best to also go to Canada to be there with her and the baby.

When the baby is born, will he be able to get citizenship (or at least some form of residency) through the baby?

My gut tells me no, but it's worth asking about.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

  5. I did an infopass a week ago (Baltimore) regarding inquiry on my expired GC since I will be travelling out of the country this April. I have my extension letter with me. The immigration officer told me that I DON'T need a stamp on my passport because the extension letter is enough.

Awesome! I'm in Baltimore too :) I will bring my extension letter, GC, passport, marriage cert, etc. to be safe!

  6. The OP never suggested that didn't have a valid passport. They were concerned with the expired GC which is extended and will permit reentry with the extension letter. If your passport is not expired there is no issue.

Too bad you cancelled your cruise due to a misinterpretation

Yup, my Canadian passport is most definitely valid until 2011. Also, I do have the letter explaining that my GC is extended for 1 year. I thought maybe some other form of documentation for the extension would come at a later date. Thanks for all the help. I guess I'm all set then!

  7. I hear you. Jamaica is considered international travel and like I said, I had no problem re-entering the USA ~ I stood in the US citizens' line with hubby and was told 'welcome back' and asked by the POE officer if we were playing "hookey" as we are both teachers & were traveling during the week  . Don't sweat it & have a great time in Ireland. Will you be there for St. Paddy's Day? :goofy:

Nope! We're going in May :D But when I lived there, St. Patty's day was very quiet.. no one really celebrated anything! It was just another day. I was very disappointed!

  8. I am in the same position as you ~ passport still in maiden name ~ and I never thought about it! My GC is in my married name and when I travel I just take my passport and GC with (and my driver's license for additional identification). My tickets are in my married name because my US credit card is in my married name. I don't travel with a copy of my marriage certificate although that does seem wise in hindsight. I have clocked quite a few domestic flights and in November came back from Jamaica without any incident.

Any time I've traveled domestically, I've used my married name and just used my Driver's License as ID. This time, I'm traveling to Ireland and so a license won't cut it. I changed my tickets so that my maiden name is on them. This way, it matches my passport. Hopefully, I won't have any issues. I'll be bringing my marriage certificate along just in case.

  9. I had my name changed to my maiden name on the tickets. The airline said people travel in their married name all the time, who have passports that don't match, and that it would be fine.... but I didn't feel comfortable with that. So now my ticket matches my passport and I will have my marriage certificate with me just in case. The only way to change my passport would be to apply for an entirely new passport. Turns out you can't add a page to a Canadian passport with the name change anymore. Argh!

  10. Hi all,

I am traveling abroad in May and my passport still has my maiden name. My plane tickets have my married name on them, but passport doesn't match that. Will I be fine going through customs as long as I have my marriage certificate to show that everything matches up?

Oops. I may have posted this in the from subforum. I currently do have my 2 year green card.

  11. No one sends you a reminder for removing conditions - must be your lawyer or someone or something like that. Take another look at the reminder. As far as I know there is no such thing as a reminder from Immigration people - I haven't heard of anything like this yet. Good Luck

I most certainly got a reminder from USCIS about my I-751. It was just one single paper letting me know that my card expired on 4/27/09 and that I would need to file to remove my conditions before then.

  12. (im the USC and he came to US by fiance visa)

im one of the not so lucky ones who got laid off from their jobs because of the economic crisis...im planning on filing for unemployment (we just got approved for AOS this Jan 2009-- so we have a little less than 2 years till we apply to remove the condition) but before i file for unemployment.. can anyone please enlighten us whether filing for unemployment benefits would be a negative impact for my husband when we file to remove the conditions on his greencard...

ive been stressing about this and trying to look for information here and the USCIS site but cant find the answers i need..

can anyone please help me ......

Finances and employment don't come into play removing conditions. Main thing is you have a valid marriage and you are living together!

thanks for your quick response :)

Also, you guys have bee together since 1998??? I'm sure you'll have more than enough information showing a valid marriage when the time comes :)

  13. It's my observation during my I-130 interview about 2 years ago. USCIS uses ACCO fasterner with two holes on top and brown color folders. So if you want to save them some time punching holes, then ACCO fasterner is your way to go. I think some of the staff that work at USCIS documentation might actually say thank you from the bottom of their heart if you do this for them. Just my 2 cents.

Ok so I guess we should use the stuff my husband got. Thanks for the info!

  14. That is a lot of evidence. Personally, I am not a believer in photos. To reference your photo they have biometrics, but do they know what your other-half looks like? no.

You don't need your passport or birth certificate.

    The rest looks good!

I did not include photos or affidavits and got approved in 62 days (CSC)

Well, I want to include the photos because the immigration officer who interviewed us for my I-485 was disappointed that I didn't have any 'wedding' photos the first time around. I had photos of us getting married at the court house, but there was no reception, wedding dress, tux, cake, etc. Seemed like he was expecting photos of a huge fancy church wedding with a huge reception afterwards

I figured I'd send them lots of photos this time around in case I got another person who was looking for more 'valid proof' in the form of photos.
