  1. To answer some questions regarding why March 1st is an important date, on the face of the approval notice it states it is only valid from 10/31/2006 to 3/1/2007. I also made an Info Pass appointment for my local USCIS office on 11/3/2006. During the appointment, the immigration officer specifically stated that this approval requires that she enter the US by 3/1/2007 or we have to start over with a new I129. They could not tell me any of the requirements until after she arrives in the US as it is handled by a different government agency.

When I called the NVC, they said Montreal would have to communicate the specific requirements. When I called the Montreal Consulate for the specific requirements a month ago they would only tell me the DS230. They would not tell me any other documents and said we had to wait to find out. They would not even say I could reference any policy on guidelines online other than to go to the USCIS website. When I searched the State Department online, I got conflicting requirements. So now that we have the letter, we found out. According to the letter, she needs documents from both Canada and China and yet she has lived and worked in Canada for several years. China does not issue that type of document and the state department does not give document waivers for China.

Since it takes over a year and a lot of work to get a travel visa for relatives in China, it seems the best option is to try to get her parents to write a letter stating her birth date, location, and parents. Then try to have it notarized and wish big that it can arrive in time. (Thanks motu!)

Sorry, but hypothetical examples that may or may not have been helpful in hind sight aren't exactly helpful right now. Any other ideas?

  2. Sorry for the confusion. Our I29F is approved through entry until March 1, 2007. But you actually need to get the Visa to enter the US. The Montreal Consulate sent packet 3 asking for a number of documents. We need to return the checklist and DS230, before they will schedule a Visa interview. Once they get the checklist, it takes 2 - 4 months to get the interview. So working backwards from March 1, 2007 based on a maximum of 4 months to get an interview (March, February, January, December) we need to send the checklist and DS230 back right away. We can probably get the documents from Canadian government and the medical exam in time, but China does not issue official birth certificates, police records, etc. So the likelihood of getting something like a notarized letter in time from there is a like billion to one. So what to do?

  3. I got the email from the USCIS first and then printed out a copy. It took around a week to get it in the mail. However, it took around another month to make it through the NVC and consulate before we got packet three. I'd highly recommend taking a look to see if the consulate where the interview will take place has guidelines on requirements for packet 3. In our case, it would have been VERY helpful to get some advance notice of the requirements - beyond the consulate's verbal DS230, DS156 and more money.

  4. We could use some good ideas. After 7 long months our I-129 was approved, then moved through NCS. We just got packet 3 from the Montreal Consulate (12/08/2006) and got an actual rather than a hypothetical verbal one. Since my fiance is from China, it is next to impossible to get the official birth certificate and police records that is being requested - let alone in a couple weeks. Since she has to be in the US by 3/1/07 for our Visa, it seems we need to have all the DS230 and completed checklist sent back to the consulate before the end of the year.

Does anyone have any experience of what we can do? :help:

We just got packet 3 from the Montreal Consulate (12/09/2006) and got an actual rather than a hypothetical verbal one. 6. Yeah. :D:D:D

Seven months of frustration for a happy day!

  7. You are not alone - we have been waiting a few more days.

Since our case is way past processing times and hasn't been touched in more than 90 days, I have contacted USCIS to investigate what happened and sent over a request for help to my state senator. So far the response is wait another X days until we can tell you something - not even the approval/rejection.

We both get to wait anxiously and deal with ongoing frustration. Good luck!

  8. Has anyone experienced this or have advise? We sent in our Fiance Visa application February 2006. The last time I received communication was June 11 when they recieved my response to a request for information. Nothing since then. We have both gotten extremely frustrated since

I called before but they said they couldn't research it until 30 days after the processing date had past. Since I got back from an overseas trip to see her, the processing date grew to more than 30 days past our intial receipt date and we hadn't received any information in more than 60 days, I called asking them to search what happened. The person said they would send a note to the office processing the request to investigate what happened and I would hear back within 30 days. Now when I try to check the status at uscis.gov, there isn't even a record of the case number I received at the beginning of March. I get a response that I need to enter a valid case number. What happened?

    Beyond frustrated. :(

  9. I have the same question and got the same message - only earlier. When I called, they said that I have to wait until 30 days past the current processing time (March 20) until they can investigate. Since ours was recieved on March 13, we are wondering what happened. We were frustrated when we didn't get the response by the end of July and now its October.

The wait times seem much longer than average. Have you also noticed that there have been a few times where the dates didn't even move for six weeks?

Sorry, no encouragement or answers. Just another person in a similar situation... :(

On JULY 31, 2006, we received your response to our request for

evidence or information. However because preliminary processing was

complete, the remaining processing time will be less than the maximum stated in

this message. You will receive a written decision on this case.

They told us wait for 60 days before u contact us regarding the case and now 60 days passed still no decision and waiting for approval. Moreover i see that many people who file their case of I-129-F after me got approved but i m still waiting so will u help me on what ground those are getting approved after me and when i see the processing date of CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER on 19 Sep 2006 they are doing case on 20 MARCH 2006.

When i make contact with the USCIS they say u had to wait more for 30 days how long we had to wait more when i see people are getting approved after me
