  1. I went through the K1 visa process last year. I entered the country using the 1 time use K1 visa. I did not complete the process as the relationship did not work out and I left and went back to Canada. I am planning on travelling to the US but my Canadian passport has the K1 visa still stapled to it along with the sticker that was placed by customs. Do I need to get a new passport or contact anyone to let them know I withdrew my application for citizenship. My only intention is to visit family and not to stay. Any help or guidance would be appreciated. If you

  2. I contacted Toyota Canada and they informed me that because the car was built for the US market I will not need a compliance letter. They then directed me to Toyota Motor Sales in the US. They are going to send me a letter stating the car has no outstanding recalls on it. That along with a copy of the US title it seems should be all that is necessary to re import the car. Thank you to everyone for their help and I will try and update the experience and any other useful info once the car is imported back into the US.

  3. With regards to the compliance letter would I need to contact Toyota USA or Canada. I know some have stated in the forum that it may not be necessary as the car did formerly conform to all US safety and emission standards which I agree with. I would like to have the letter handy just in case I need it at the border.

You also have up to a year to actually import the car, so you could technically legally drive it for a year as a Canadian unimported car, too.

When I am at the border would I just tell them I will be importing at a later date and they would be fine with this? This would allow me to drive the car while I wait to get my local license. Finally, once I am ready to import would I have to take it back to a port of entry to do so?

Thank you all for the clarification.

  4. I am curious what is required of me to import my car into the US. I own the car and actually purchased it in the US 10 years ago and will be reimporting it back into the US. Also, does anyone know specifically for North Carolina if I will need to do a smog/emission test before or after I import the car. Lastly, will I be able to drive the car over the border with my current Canadian, Ontario plates and Insurance? Any clarification about the documents I will need would be greatly appreciated.

  5. So my K1 visa was approved at the end of March 2017 and expires at the end of July 2017. Giving me 4 months to make arrangements to immigrate into the US from Canada. My dilemma  is that my brother is set to be married 2 weeks after my entry in the US expires in August 2017. Is there anything I can do to extend the entry into the US for the K1 visa. I think the reason I only have 4 months rather than the usual 6 is that I did my medical at the end of January 2017 and it will expire at the end of July 2017. I am willing to do the medical again if it means being able to prolong the entry by a few weeks which would give me enough time to be at my bothers wedding and then immigrate on my K1 visa. If anyone has any suggestions or advice on what I could do it would be greatly appreciated. I would have to miss his wedding but I also do not want my visa to expire and have to do this process all over again.
