  1. Hello all

My wife is here on a k3 visa , she needs to leave the us and come back.I have not applied for her adjustment of status yet because we are awaiting the translation and arrival of our marriage certificate from Iran. We should receive it soon and I'll apply for her adjustment. Can she leave and come back ? I have called USCIS twice and we even met with an immigration officer in downtown LA they all gave us different answers .Two said she can leave , and one said she can't .Which is it ? She also has an I-94 card attached to her visa tha says must be surrendered upon leaving the US. On her visa it says :Entries :1 and the visa is good for two years. What kind of document do they require for K3 visa holders ? Do they want proof that you have applied for adjustment of status ? Any help is appreciated.Thank you :-)

  2. Now it has been 3 months since my wife'sinterview in Ankara for the K3 process and the latest update from the embassy is that they are doing a "security name check". Is this normal ? Any estimates on how much longer it might take ? I thought this K3 visa was supposed to expedite things. I'll keep checking... :-)

Name check is done :-) The case number showed up today :-) It's 3 months and 13 days after the interview.

  3. We can only pray and wait. I am in the same boat and he is getting very depressed. It seems his name is rather common so I expect the checks to take a long time. This is what he wrote me after my last call to the DOS.

(6/18/2007 12:40:36 AM): us embassy is slowest and worst embassy in the world

(6/18/2007 12:40:58 AM): they think about people very terrible

(6/18/2007 12:42:36 AM): and they r in big wrong because fighter terrorist enter to usa illegal most of time or with new id or alot of other tricks

(6/18/2007 12:43:26 AM): i filled forms and i wrote on it honestly and i lived in my town from my birth day

(6/18/2007 12:43:41 AM): i donot know they want know what

(6/18/2007 12:44:13 AM): but ok we can wait more

    (6/18/2007 12:44:28 AM): yes?

Good luck and don't give up

I am sorry to hear that someone else is experiencing the same thing, it's just crazy. With all the money that the US has it's a shame how slow this process is. I wonder if they pick and choose who gets a name check or isit for all Iranian applicants? My wife is discouraged too and I feel guilty because I had told her how much better the US administrative processes are. Let's stay in touch and I really hope your name check comes through asap. Giving up is not an option :-) Take care

  4. Some clearances are done prior to the interview but the rest of them are done at the time or shortly after the interview depending on how the consulate/embassy works and the type of visa you are applying for. Hopefully, your AR/AP will not last much longer and she will have her visa in hand soon .

Thank you for the encouraging response :-) Our eight weeks is not up yet so I am hoping we'll have it soon. There were no problems at the interview and all has been pretty smooth so far.

    Thanks again :-)

  5. You might want to ask this in the Middle East/North African section...unless there's another regional section where Iran fits in...I honestly don't know.

I think with Egypt one would actually call DOS to see if the security checks have been cleared, not the embassy. Also with Egypt though, the time frame they give you is bogus. They usually tell people in Egypt something like 4 to 6 weeks or so but in actuality it's more like 4 months to a year. Since your SO is a woman though it may make a difference and be less time.

Anyways ask in the middle east section to see if anyone has gone through that embassy before and good luck!

    Thank you very much :-)

  6. Unfortunatly The United does not have an Embassy in Iran since 1979 .The US Embassy in Ankara has a website and on their website they post the case numbers as their security clearence comes through. On there once you see your case number pop up you are supposed to report back to the Embassy and hand in your passport and receive it back in a few days via UPS at your hotel with the Visa.

    Hello All

We had the interview on March 12th for my wife's K3 Visa ( Iranian Applicant ) in Ankara ,all went well but They told us we have to wait for a security clearence which can take up to six to eight weeks. Soon it will be 8 weeks and I still have not seen our case number pop up on their website. Also I was under the impression that the security clearence takes place before the interview. Any other applicants have any experience with this process?

    I appreciate any feedback.

    Than you

I'm not familiar with Iran or any Embassy that would have your case number pop up on their website after an interview. Perhaps the US Embassy in Iran has a specific policy to complete a final security check after the interview. If so, I'm sure somebody will be along with some more specific information. However, any interview COULD result in the need for an additional security check that could take an indefinite period of time. Generally this is simply referred to as "additional administrative processing" and they tell you to contact them after three months if you don't hear from them.

  8. Hello All

I have received a notice from NVC Bureau of Consular affairs stating that my approved I-129F that I have filed for my wife has been received by them. They will now forward that to the visa-issuing post overseas ,which for us will be in Turkey ( Ankara) .Does anybody know what will be the time frame between this step until our interview date?

Prior to this I had received an I-797 notice of approval which says is valide from 8/16/2006 to 12/16/2006 ,does that mean we should expect an interview date befrore 12/16/2006?

Any help or information is greatly appreciated

    Thank you
