  1. Had my interview on October 23rd in Montreal. After nearly passing out from nervousness in the waiting area... literally had a butt sweat stain on the seat... it went fine! I was worrying since the laminated sheet said I needed the original affidavit of support and I only had a printed off copy of that and a copy of my hbs w2s etc. But all my documents were fine.

My questions in the interview were:

How did you meet (gave date and where)

What happened next (gave more details)

What does he do (works like 4 jobs so explained them all)

When did you get married (got married exactly a year from when we met plus got married where we met)

How often do you visit/see each other (ive visited 8 times since we met... him 3 times... i have a better schedule off work)

How long was your longest visit (one month)

The interviewer though us getting married where we met exactly as year later was sweet so that seemed to help. Then got handed a letter greeting me to the USA. Had to laugh because the interviewer began the interview by apologizing for being sick... when I actually had mostly lost my voice because I was sick. My passport was shipped today back to me. I got to the consulate at 840 and my time was scheduled for 900. I waited til like 1000 for my document check then only 10 more mins for the interview. Just relax. Breath. You will be ok!!!

  2. Had my immigration medical completed on Thursday in Toronto with Dr. Lyndon Mascarenhas. Super easy. Urine test, blood draw and chesy xray. Make sure you bring a passport like photo, your passport and vaccination record. I didnt go to my doctor to get the vaccine record because I had a record from Occ Health at work and that was fine. I shouls have my packaged couriered back to Manitoba by next week they said. One step closer!!

We had to pay with my husband US bank account. You need the routing numbers etc for it. First I tried to pay with a Canadian account but the payment was declined by NVC

    Thanks Carriiej!

We're trying to find out what the hold up is.... it seems (from reading the forums of other filers) once to NVC is done it usually only takes a few days for the interview to get scheduled.... Not sure what is going on with our case since the NVC completed their checks 3 weeks ago!

I was super confused with the whole NVC process. Even through reading all the information about the NVC process it still didn't quite go the way the internet said. When you say that NVC completed their checks, does that mean you are "documentarily qualified"? I had not heard of the term anywhere on this site so it confused me when I got the email informing us we were documentarily qualified. My bet is you'll be hearing soon. It's basically up to the embassy right now, they provide the NVC with dates of interviews then the NVC fills the spots with people who are documentarily qualified (that's how it was was explained to me for interviews in Canada... unsure if its the same process in the UK).

Just an update: The NVC responded to a question as to when we will get an interview date and we had this response

"NVC schedules appointments one month in advance. The U.S. Embassy tells us what dates they are holding interviews, and NVC fills these appointments as they become documentarily qualified. Most appointments are set within three months of NVC’s receipt of all requested documentation. However, before applicants in a numerically limited (preference) visa category can receive an appointment, their priority date must also be current. This can delay receipt of an appointment. You can track your priority date using the Visa Bulletin on travel.state.gov."

What priority is the Spouse of a US Citizen? It doesn't seem to say! We just seem to be going around in circles - the US Embassy in London says the NVC schedules the appointment.... the NVC says it is waiting for London to give them a date.... So we are just in complete uncertainty!

Has anyone else ever dealt with the US Embassy in London? Any advice/support?

My understanding is that spouses are not in a numerically limited visa category so basically just ignore that. Certain visa categories have a limit of visas they can put out a year but spouses dont count!

    Hey!

We are also halfway through NVC, sending package sometime this week!

Anybody knows how long are they taking to finish cases at NVC? They told me up to 11 weeks! But hopefully less.... thanks! Best wishes to all and we'll be reunited with our loved ones soon!!! 🙌🏾

Randomly I met someone from my hometown who is going through the same process and they were told that the NVC would take up to 11 weeks to finish the case.. but within 2 weeks they received the letter with an interview date! I'm a little jealous since they applied about 3 weeks after we did and their interview is already scheduled haha. Hopefully the NVC can continue to be that quick!

  7. We included pictures of us and family and friends, boarding passes, proof he is my beneficiary on bank accounts, life insurance and RRSP, proof he's on my health plan at work (even though he's in a different country and can't use them I still have to pay for a family plan), marriage certificate, proof of how many messages back and forth to each other on Facebook -had like 80000 messages,   (we use Facebook to call/video chat since it's free), letters from family and friends saying our relationship (all signed by lawyers), newspaper clipping of our wedding announcement. If they request extra evidence I don't know what we would send. We don't have shared bank accounts because with the Canadian dollar being so poor there is no point.
