I filed a I-485 for which I had the biometrics done. Later, I filed for a I-765 under the I-485. They are now asking for another biometrics. Will I have to do a second biometrics or will it just take a while to catch up with the I-485?

Sorry to post without doing my research, but I found that there is no extra fee to file an EAD after filing the AOS. From the USCIS Form I-765 instructions:
NOTE: If you filed Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, as of July 30, 2007, and you paid the Form I-485 filing fee, no fee is required to also file a request for employment authorization on Form I-765. You may file the Form I-765 with your Form I-485, or you may submit the Form I-765 at a later date. If you file Form I-765 separately, you must also submit a copy of your Form I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt as evidence of the filing of Form I-485 as of July 30, 2007.

Does anyone know if there is some way to "piggyback" the EAD onto to my already filed AOS and avoid paying the additional fee of $410 + $85 biometrics?

I did not file the form I-765 when I filed the form I-485 (I do not intend for my wife to work at this time). If I remember correctly, there was no fee to file the I-765 if it was filed along with the I-485. Now it looks like the fee for the I-765 filed alone will be $410 + $85 for biometrics!

I have read that you will need a valid I-94 in order to get a SSN for a K-1 visa holder. I did not plan for my wife to work, and still don't, so we did not apply for a SSN. I just realized that she will need a SSN so we can file a joint tax return for 2017! Her I-94 expired on 11-21-2017 We filed for AOS last month, so it will probably be 5 or 6 months before she gets her green card. Will we have to wait until she gets her green card to get a SSN, or is there another way that she can get it sooner?

Once you receive your biometrics letter it will state which ASC office You are supposed to go with a date and time. You can try to go to any ASC office and do a walk-in so if you want to go to Greer in South Carolina that is fine they will probably accommodate your request if they are not busy. You can try that before your scheduled day.
I used the USCIS website live chat and the agent told me "Applicants are to appear at the ASC that they are scheduled to appear at on the appointment notice. Biometrics appointments are scheduled to the ASC nearest to the zip code provided on a person’s application. If an applicant is unable to appear at this location on their scheduled date, but can travel to another ASC for their appointment, then they may do so. If you go to another ASC, you may be accommodated unless the Application Support Center’s Immigration Services Officer (ISO) determines that you cannot be processed due to the unavailability of biometrics technicians, in which case the ISO will have you return for processing at a later time."
We took a chance this afternoon and drove to the Greer, SC USCIS ASC. When we pulled into the parking lot, it was pretty empty. We walked inside and were met by security. Their first question was "Do you have an appointment". I showed them the appointment letter from Atlanta and told them that we were hoping to do a walk-in. They said that they did not think that it would be a problem. They let my wife through and asked me to leave the building (no waiting area available). Fifteen minutes later my wife came out and her appointment letter was stamped with the biometrics processing stamp!

We don't want to risk that!

She does not have any documents that allow her to leave and return to the US. I guess we cannot cruise until she gets her green card.

The cruise line rep could not answer this one, he told me to call the Filipino Embassy. My wife has a Filipino passport and we applied for AOS 3 weeks ago. We would like to take a Caribbean cruise starting 12/23/17 going to Jamaica and Cozumel. The rep did not know if my wife would be allowed to board the ship with a Filipino passport, even if she did not disembark at the ports of call.

Thanks for the info!

I looked on the USCIS website for the ASC for my wife's biometrics. We live in zip code 29621 and it came up as Atlanta, GA. We live over 2 hours drive from Atlanta, but there is an ASC office in Greer, SC, which is about a 45 minute drive. Do they not do biometrics in Greer, SC?

My fiancée did not get a letter in the mail from the embassy in Manila. She just printed a copy of the online confirmation and brought it with her.

Ok, so the I-797C is the NOA. I thought the NOA was a separate document. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

I received my I-797C, Notice of Action dated 3/7/2017. It said my I-129F application had been received and is in process. It has a receipt # was assigned to the CSC. When I checked the USCIS website it says "On March 2, 2017, we received your Form I-129F, Petition for Fiance(E), Receipt Number WACxxxxxxxxxx, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice". There were no specific instructions on the I-797C other than contact the USCIS if the info was wrong. It is 3 weeks and I have had no more info. The VJ historical processing times says Step 1: I-129F NOA1 Issue Time --> Filing date to I-129F NOA1 Date the I-129F's with a file date of roughly 9 days ago (March 18,2017) are being processed in the CSC. Is my notice date on the I-797C considered the same as the file date? When can I expect to get my NOA1?
Should we wear wedding rings to the AOS interview?
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas

We have our AOS interview on 7/24/2018. We have not bought wedding rings yet, and are not really in a rush to buy them, but I was wondering if it would raise a red flag if the interviewer did not see wedding rings on our fingers?
