You’ll need an affidavit of support (form I-864). Even though you’re a beneficiary, you can still add your own income to meet income requirements provided it’s income you earned with lawful authorized employment. You’ll also need to send a copy of the front and back cover of your EAD (employment authorization document), as well as other documentary evidence as required.

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi

I am going to fill out my adjustment of status and I am wondering if I can be my own sponsor as a beneficiary. My wife is the petitioner and I am the beneficiary. My salary meets the requirement and we filled out our tax returan as married filling jointly. So I am wondering since my wife's salary alone does not meet the requierment, can I be my own sponsor?

Hi Ali1365,  I am needing to do the same thing, sponsor myself, as a beneficiary, using my income. Are you able to tell me what form you used to do this? Thank you for your help!! 😊

Hmmm.. I think now that you know it, you don't really need the physical mail right? Or to whichever address it is sent to in the US, forward it to Australia? You can set up PO box in the United States and have the post office forward it. Congrats by the way!!! Happy for you! I know how long you guys have been waiting and how painful the wait could be. :(

Thank you! Good luck with yours,  I'm sure you will hear from them soon! 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Yes it has been a horrible wait. Good idea! I will get the mail forwarded, thanks!👍🏻😊

  4. My husband just called and they told him the I-130 has been approved and they have sent a letter today!!! 😊😊😊 PD Nov 16 - 335 days, no updates online yet. Is there anyway to change the address to outside of the USA so we get the mail here in Australia?? He will be back with me in Australia next week but the officer say it has to be sent to a US domicile 😳, we won't in the US to get the mail 😳😁 will NVC allow us to get mail sent to Australia?

I contacted USCIS again. The first call is with a non-tier 2 representative. He was telling me that my case is at the Nebraska Center but then I told him I actually had an interview, is it sent back to the Nebraska Center. He told me yes blah blah.. a bunch of lies. and I asked him if I can talk to a Tier-2 Representative. Tier-2 Representative called me back in 3 hours. He told me my case is at National Benefit Center, but I then told him that I actually had an interview a few weeks ago, so what does it mean for my case to be at the National Benefit Center? He then told me oh let me check in another system. He checked that my case is still in my local office..... no decision has been made yet...and he said that usually they will see it when a decision has been made but apparently no decision yet. :( Three weeks after my interview already......... why torture me like this? Make a decision already!!!!!!

Its a cruel process huh. I just tried to call and it cut out 3 times and then i finally get a hold of them and they say they cannot provide any information to me as I am the applicant, not the petitioner. Waiting for my husband to call  I hope you get good news soon!

Hey everyone I'm not  sure if I told u abt me getting a chance to be in a teleconference with the CIS Osbudsman organization. Guess what? I was invited to join and this is a very nice in a life time event. To All Nebraska filers I will be speaking on behalf of each and everyone of us of the horrible frustrations we suffer from their neglect in getting us processed in a timely matter. To all my Nov 2016 filers including myself I hope this will get the ball rolling and let the osbudsman organization do their work in correcting this huge problem and get myself and my close other friends that I've met on this journey approved.....

Yes! Go Sundee! Let's expose what's happening so at least future filers dont have to go through this. Congrats and good luck!

  7. Hi all! For anyone considering contacting a congressman. Here is the response we got. We have found that the senators representative was just as helpful if not more helpful than the congressman. The senators rep  we have is advocating for us and is receiving updates on the cases progress from USCIS. They also requested for our case to have immediate adjudication and the rep notified me yesterday that our case was just adjudicated for a final decision. So maybe their request worked! They help put pressure on USCIS and draw attention to the case. It also helps receiving updates on the progress as opposed to being left in the dark. so definitely worth a try!

As you all remember, I called and talked to a tier 2 IO at USCIS last Wednesday where she responded that our application has not even been assigned to anyone yet. Well 305 days later, I get home and guess what waiting for me in the mailbox!!! YES!!! NOA2!! APPROVED!!! And of course dated, September 21, 2017, The day AFTER I called!!! Thank the Lord!!!!

I am beyond the moon!!! Now if I can just wake up my husband and tell him!!!!!!

BTW, NOTHING is updated online OR in both APPS!!!! WTG USCIS!!!!

Yes!!! Finally!! Congrats!!! 🎉 The senator I contacted did a follow up has informed me that my case has just been assigned to an officer for a final decision. Things are moving along at Nebraska!

Apparently it's the blanket response they are sending out. Our inquiry was 08/12/17 same response:

The status of this service request is:

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records show that your case is currently pending adjudication. However, we have had to perform additional reviews on your case, and this has caused a longer processing time.

We hope this information is helpful and appreciate your continued patience.

only 10 days past the date I was suppose to get the response. Ha'bout dat! Ha.

Oh ok thanks for sharing. So I guess we are left in the dark huh .. 🙄

I really don't know where to begin, but to thank God! I have been following this post for MONTHS. We did not file in November our priority date is December 13, 2016 but this thread is a lot more active than the December thread. We are super excited! We received our NOA-2 today from USCIS. It was approved on the 31st of August -- about 8 1/2 months after the priority date.

This was a real anxious and tense time for us, it was especially hard being apart for eight months. It reached the point where we just bought a ticket for me to come visit my wife in Houston. We were unsure if they would let me in on my B1/B2 visa. I had no issue getting into the country. I flew into Miami (MIA). The immigration officer was friendly, no hassle at all. It was information from this very thread, where people said they had travelled into the country during the process, that prompted us to take a chance. I would just like to say thank you to everyone who takes the time to post. I feel that the importance of these forums cannot be overstated, even if just as a support mechanism.

Good luck to everyone! On to the NVC stage- any recommendations are greatly appreciated and accepted!

Congrats on your approval!! 🎉🎉 Thank you for sharing about the B2 visa. I am also very nervous about going to visit on this visa, but hearing stories like yours make me feel more confident going. How long were you able to visit for? That's the one bit I'm not sure on, how long they will allow me there on a tourist visa so I don't know what date to book my return ticket . Good luck for the rest of the Visa journey!! 😊

If you have the visa now Yes and you can stay up till 6 months.

Hi Odekunles, thanks for responding.😊😊 Have you yourself tried entering on this visa for 6 months? I'm so nervous about going as I've heard mixed responses as to what I-130 filers can and cannot do when it comes to using a tourist visa. I might contact a lawyer first just in case 🤔..

Is anyone still waiting for NOA 2?

I sent my I-130 from Japan to the Chicago Lockbox on 11/25. I got my NOA 1 on 12/31.

So far I have heard nothing since then and I've checked my case status several times.

Is anyone else still stuck in limbo at the I-130 stage?

    Yes my PD Nov 16

We are in the same boat. I was supposed to receive mine on August 29. This makes me feel like they are playing with our feelings or just don't care.

Plausible theory on why we have been left behind. Like someone else has already mentioned on here before, Nebraska is competing with all the other service centres processing times. So every month they have to keep up, or "appear" as though they are keeping up. To do this they update their processing dates of where they are up to every month, even though they do not represent reality accurately.

I believe they then approve some cases from November at random to allow them to continue moving forward into the next month, while leaving some behind. By approving some of the November cases they avoid a high volume of enquiries and an inundation of calls from all November filers.
