Just wanted to update just in case if someone else is in the same boat....

None of what you have mentioned above has happened so far.

We haven't submitted 2015 IRS income tax return with our second RFE response nor did we find a co-sponsor.

Instead I have written 3 pages long explanation letter with quotes from immigration and IRS official articles stating that in our circumstances with on time filed extension form, USCIS should accept previous year tax return as current... after I sent my response, 2 weeks later I have gotten EAD approval notice, so I'm guessing my explanation was accepted and AOS has not been denied!!!!

so not every case is straight forward!

Fist of all, congratulations on your belated green card.

I am in the similar situation. I am a US citizen sponsoring my mother and I have joint sponsor, who is self employed and filled an extension. Also got RFE

Would you mind sharing your magical letter?

*Bank account statements showing deposits (past 12 months )

    *Annuity statement

    *Professional state license

    *Tax Transcript 2014

    *Bank letter

*Ledger income expense / profit loss / projected income (explaining reason for projection like steady clients for the past 20 years)

*Letter of explanation summarizing and pulling all together short and sweet and requesting detailed specific RFE if still unclear.

RFE was accepted but we are still waiting for AOS approval going on almost one year.

First of all, thank you for this informative post. If i would come across it before I could have avoided a lot mistakes.

I want to hear how did it go for you? If you could share your interview experience it would be greatly appreciated.

I am a US Citizen and I filed form I-130 for my mother in May of 2016. She is currently in the U.S.  My income was not sufficient so we used joint sponsor, who is self- employed. At the time we filled we did not have joint sponsor taxes for 2015 because he had extension. We received RFE requesting 2015 taxes, which were sent in ( IRS transcript was not send since it was not ready at that time ).

Now, we having interview for AOS on March 22 of 2017 and I am not sure what evidence to bring with me. Joint sponsor is a physician, who has his own medical office. Every year he takes extension so I will not have taxes for 2016 to show. Only 2015 taxes that I already send in. I have 1099 forms from insurance companies. Also, will get a letter from CPA stating what will his income for 2016 and what he made so far for 2017. Bank statement.

Any advise on what I could possibly bring for interview would be appreciated
