from the timelines it looks like the average NOA is about 6 days or less... Maybe I should just get married now, then I can move with her and just not work for a few months.

Once your AOS is received and you get your notice of action, you are now allowed to remain in the US until your AOS is adjucated.
What the time frame on receiving the NOA after filing a completed AOS?

So I am currently in the US on an valid E3 visa which has 15 months remaining on it. I am getting married this June to a US born citizen.
My fiance just got her dream job in a different city. They want her to start in a month, which will be about 2 months before the wedding. My problem is that my visa is directly tied to my job. If I leave my job or get fired I have to leave the country within 10 days and therefore I can't move to the new city to be with my fiance.
My question is, to speed up the process, if I get married tomorrow by the state, does that change my status? If not, it's going to take 6 weeks before I get my marriage license and can file the AOS. Once I file the AOS can I stay in the US legally? Can I then work for any employer?
Cheers

I am currently in the US working on a valid E3 visa. I am getting married to a American born US citizen in 3 months. I have done a little bit of research and it looks like I need to do an Adjustment of Status (AOS) to obtain a green card.
It looks like this is a good step by step guide to the process with all the forms I need to submit - http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2
If someone has been through the process already and is willing to confirm or deny the process listed in the link, it would be appreciated.
Assuming I am correct and I need to follow the steps in the link, can I get away without a lawyer? I know it is probably not recommended however with the wedding coming up it would be great to save the $2,500 lawyer fees.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for the info. Yes this is defiantly an option. But from my research it is still going to take about 2 months for this paper work to be processed and the transfer of visa approved. And that's if I had a job offer today.
From your timeline it looks as if you have a pending decision due any day now. good luck!
