Called DOS yesterday from pakistan , they said that the records show that my husbands visa was issued December 29th!! We couldn't cal the embassy, cuz it was closed, and today is saturday now , so instead we thought to go to PIA, Speedex in Multan, and as we sat in the office of the visa offical there a man came in with a bag, and yes, in that bag there was Rashid's visa!!! We are so happy, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah. Allah Is so Great, After only 2 and half months we have his visa and are now planning on a way to travel back to america together, this is such a happy time for us! Thanks for your help:)

Called DOS again, they said rashid is in standard security checks and waiting clearance in Washington. Do they tell you if there has been a name hit? or is that only if you get someone who feels like telling you...this guy was really nice though...i think he would have told me.

I have a question about medical test. I am still waiting for my packet 4 but i decide to go for medical test in Islamabad. The question is i don't have any kind of medical record, when i will be there for medical which things i need to bring there ?? Any additional requirements for the checkup, and what about the medical fee in Islamabad how much it will be in total ??

One thing i can guarantee is that you will be having all of the injections since you do not have any record of having them before. i'll ask my husband what the fee was for him there in Islamabad..

Hey Everybody,

I hope everybody is well. I have a concern regarding my I-864. I am a full time student but I have been working part time since 4 years. After my wedding this summer, my husband didn't want me to work so did my parents. He was sending me the support every month and then I live with my family so it was all perfect. Now, I don't want to call myself unemployed on the form as that would make a bad impression. I am certainly going to include household income which is pretty well but I am still not happy with my side of the story. The only thing I do now is tutoring but that is very minimal income just to help some people out. So if you guys could please advice me and give me your opinion then that would certainly be appreciated.

i put on my I-864 that i was a STUDENT and UNEMPLOYED SINCE 2004, it was approved...i just had a co sponsor who makes good money

in 05 when i applied for PK visa, the consulate chicago sent my passport with visa inside and my original marriage certificate via usps and it was lost in the mail for 4 days, the usps couldn't find it and it was like it vanished off the face of the earth, then like out of no where it arrived !? , well, that's about as close to being in your shoes as i've gotten.

They are not the same. AR is security checks. My fiance and I were on AP for nearly eight months and we NEVER had any security checks in all that time. (im sure we had them at one point but not during AP). Another reason we know there is a difference is because twice we were corrected by the embassy and DOS when we referred to it as AR. They were quick to remind us that our case was in ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING AND NOT ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW. We called the DOS several times in those months and was always told the same "No security checks have been ordered, whatever is being done is within the embassy itself".

Basically what Processing consist of is they investigate the validity of the information they receive. They interviewed his family and friends and made one call to my home. (amazing it took eight months to do that ).

So there is a difference, but they both equal the same thing, delays and misery!!

I went through one year of Ar/Ap. I think its the same thing! Some times they told me I was under Admin review and some times they told me I am in Admin processing!

The process is that your case is under review! Thats my two cents on this!

i agree, i think it's the same thing too, sometimes i read that one is more extensive than the other, but i just think the words are used but mean the same thing. AR

Why would you say something like that?

Because I find it seriously impossible to believe that the OP is not aware of the many options for mailing documents internationally.

Like D, I'm all for helping to provide valuable information. But I am not here to spoon feed basic information on how to exist in everyday life. Come on - if the OP truly cannot figure out how to mail something internationally without the help of an internet message board, he's got bigger things to worry about.

we all ask obvious questions at some point in our lives, and we can just answer it without acting like they are stupid. Just cuz it seems obvious to know the best way to send something via mail, that's fine then answer the best way, the cheapest way, or something more helpful if you can see that the person hasn't had experience using express service.

Fed ex , in my opinion is super expensive, ups is usually cheaper than fed ex...just plain registered mail via USPS will take ages, and i've never done international express with the USPS but they are very good in delivering domestic over night express so i would assume their international service is just as good. never dealt with DHL, if i were u, i would just give them all a call, get their rates and then just decide among them, i like to go with the ones that guarantee a refund if it's not there on time.

K-3 sucks! I filed for Work Authorization and I guess I wont be able to work for three months! Boo hoo hoo! What should one do for 3 months is something I dont understand!

I've read over the actual document (found here) and it really doesn't seem as nefarious as everyone is making it out to be.

Essentially, they used to be required to submit a manifest of passengers by 15 minutes after departure time. Now they are required to submit it 30 minutes prior to departure time. If a passenger somehow triggers security checks, then they'll be pulled from the flight. Specifically, look at page 37 and 38 of the document, that's where it discusses this stuff.

The DOS always gives the same information " PENDING". 99% of anything said is all the same thing.

A very happy reunion for us and we should say many many big applause for u that for one year you been on AR/AP its really so long and one really gets frustated we are on the way to enter this AR( A CAGE OF FIRE) and how long it took us GOD knows but i know now you feel at the top of the world. Secondly i want you to ask people that i got nvc email replying me they forward my petition to the embassy on 22 NOV 2006 and i track dhl and i saw only 2 file being send to PAKISTAN on 21NOV and 24NOV 2006 and both have been received by the islamabad but when today i call embassy they told me they got the electronic file not the physical file and contact us after 2 WEEKS whereas i see u people timeline that it takes maximum a week to reach embassy i will call nvc and asked them which date they send it. Why taking so long for my file to reach islamabad embassy?

Every time i called the NVC about how long anything would take, for ex. sending my file to Islamabad. , They told me it takes 4 to 6 weeks, every with them can take up to 4 to 6 weeks, when i asked that when will they be sending me some forms, or when will they do anything, every time i got, 4 to 6 weeks. So i wouldn't worry that yours has not reached Islamabad yet.

Thanks hafiz, I called my wife yesterday just to give her headsup. Here what she have told me. In order to replace my name with father name on line 3, NADRA will asked her to change her middle name to husband name, e,g. her name is S (first name) M (middle name, thats her father name), S (last name).

NADRA told her in order to replace husband name from father name on line 3. She must also on line one replace M (middle name, thats her father name to husband first name).

This will bring up some problem, because when I filled her I-130 and I-129f I have mentioned her full name as S (first name) M (middle name, thats her father name), S (last name).

Second point,

She have passport, but her picture in passport is with HIJAB (because of Umra she performed), do she also need to change her photo on passport according to US requirement, like hair visually showed in picture? please help i need to start this process ASAP.

I seriously doubt that matters, on my passport i am not wearing hijab (because i was not muslim at that time) but i do wear hijab on every other form of id i have taken now that i am muslim, for example my driver's license, i wear hijab, and for my college ID i also have hijab. If it was against the law for a woman to wear hijab for her passport photo, i would be shocked.

sounds like a lot to me, i paid 1840 for a round trip ticket for me and my son.. it was less than 30 days ahead of time, and in the holiday peak season, so that added to it...but it's still a good price compared to what we were seeing in the upper 2 and 3 thousands.

I use Continents Travel Agency when i travel, they have lower prices for us, last time i think it was lil over 1000 when i traveled in june 2005 and that was also round trip with a 6 month open ended ticket...

that was PIA though...

I called DOS every tuesday for the past three weeks, first time it was a guy, he said he didn't know anything other than my case is pending, i asked him when they got my husbands file, he said he doesn't know...then again the next tuesday, it was barbara, she said same thing to my same questions..the finally last tuesday i called again and it was again a lady, but she didn't say her name, she was very nice, Finally! and she told me that the DOS recieved my husbands case on October 12th (his interview was Oct 6th) and that they are doing the check on him, she said it usually takes about 6 to 8 weeks and that is all they are waiting on....okay, is this a typical answer that everyone gets when they call DOS ? or does it sound promising?
