  1. My heart ❤️ hurts for you and I’m sorry For what you are experiencing. I’ve read some of the VJ members responses, and Some have given positive advice and encouragement. I would like to do the same. I agree there is something most definitely wrong with the situation and the amount of time invested in this marriage you need to find some ground of communication if possible to get to the bottom of it. I agree with other comments you need be strong and don’t let him manipulate or use you  as doormat or make you feel as if you are the one that needs apologizing! Marriage is a partnership.

  2. Hi, my husband received his advanced parole approval notice yesterday. Has anyone from Nigeria 🇳🇬 used their parole while the AOS is pending. It’s notes on the paper it states not a guarantee even tho approved that will be allowed to return into US. This statement causes some fear and anxiety? Has anyone had a problem returning? Thanks in advance.

I sent my paperwork to New York for a visa to Nigeria. I completely forgot to print a copy of my airline itinerary and include it in the packet. Any suggestions on what to do. Will it process without it or is there a way to add it?

Call them (212) 808-0301 and shoot them an e-mail cgnny@nigeriahouse.com

  4. I was separated for about a year before filing my divorce and in my state of CA is takes 6 months to finalize. So with the suggestion of another VJ member I included a timeline leading up to my divorce with my petition. I filed my petition the day after my divorce was final. My fiancée interview is this coming Tuesday 08/15 in Lagos, Nigeria so we will see very soon if it is an issue with a recent divorce. I'll post if it is.

thanks for the response. On the instructions that came with the interview date, it said to register with at ustraveldoc.com/ng but when i click to register, i'm unable to. It shows where you can sign in for existing profiles not new ones. any idea on this? here's the link http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/index.html?firstTime=No

If you just type in address bar www.ustraveldocs.com it will ask you the country and if this your first time say yes and it will have you select user and password

As has been mentioned several times that is probably the least important of the many issues.

Assuming she is looking at going the marriage route that will resolve itself.

Agreed. I'm going thru the same process and similar situation and filing to Lagos as well and did come on this site to start a debate. I'm on VJ because  I want successful outcome and avoid issues as such by learning through others experiences.

Taxation is federal. Marriage is not. Read the Constitution and specifically the 10th Amendment. You are not understanding the concept of federalism, which is a key component to understanding how our government works (or doesn't). When we don't know if something is specifically federal or given to the states, we turn to the Supreme Court. That's why issues such as gay marriage, gun control, immigration, abortion, etc. end up in arguments - and court. If it's a federal Constitutional question, it is likely a federal issue. Since the USCIS concerns immigration, it is - and will always be - a federal question and jurisdiction. The USCIS does not give a hoot about state law, including smoking pot, marriage, or anything else. States can (to some degree) legalize marijuana, but marijuana falls under federal drug codes - hence, it may hurt someone's visa issues, etc. Federal issue = feds win. State issue = states win (usually).

Are ya done? Embassy thinks she's married she has to prove she's not regardless of if this being a state or federal issue. Right?

If it were, there won't be 13 States that still did not recognize same sex marriage.

Well I guess I'm wrong then I thought even if you from those 13 states that if your in a same sex couple regardless of state law can file your federal returns as married. Thank you since I didn't go to law school and apparently many of you have and just know.

  10. Well I guess I learned something new today and I didn't post to have a great debate over the subject. As far as my understanding federal always out ranked. But anyhow since the embassy is run by federal then gonna have convince them otherwise. Anybody in this process is at their mercy. So all information and ideas can be helpful to research whether you agree or disagree or feel incorrect.

  11. Hello VJ,

I have been searching and reading many things here on VJ for Lagos, Nigeria Consulate and I thank many of you for sharing. I have my petition k1 visa all prepared and ready to mail at least I think so. It is front loaded and put together with VJ suggestions.  So I would like to know if there is anyone on here in a similar situation applying for K1 visa. I am the petitioner white woman, 15 years older, recent divorce and yes I have kids 3. Recent as in it will finally be finalized the day before my petition. Of course I have been separated since before I met my sweetheart. I have read so many encouraging interview results and have hope, but I don’t know the circumstances are these approvals from idyllic couples, same race, and same age, never married? I have only come across a few that have mentioned a large age gap and they have been denied even though they claim to have sent mounting evidence of a bonafide relationship. Any feedback or encouraging words would be great.
