  1. We first got the email and now finally the letter in the mail with our receipt number, but when I go to the uscis.gov site and put it in it says its not on their system.

Has anyone encountered this before? I set up a profile already and have tried to add the receipt number multiple times to no avail...

I'm not sure if this means something or if I'm just overreacting.

We did the same thing a couple of months ago, and it was accepted.

Note # 1: We did so, as we unfortunately stumbled upon (and went by) an outdated guideline that did suggest making it in favor of "USCIS".

Note # 2: I emailed USCIS, the very next day of sending it in, requesting them to accept it the way it was - along with a screen capture of that outdated instruction that misled us.

I cannot say for sure if it was the email that did the trick, or a more forgiving officer that accepted it.

One other thing (Not too sure if it is connected) - We did not get notified despite the G-1145. And the Notice Date was 16 days later than the Receipt.

Hope you too are granted the same benefit of doubt.

    Cheers!

Thank you so much for your response!

I called the USCIS on Monday and asked them about it. They said it would be sent back either way, so now we are just waiting. I am hoping they just send back the cheque and not the entire package... Lets see! I will definitely update this whenever it happens.

  3. Awesome, thank you both for responding. I don't know why I thought there would be so much more to do before I leave lol

luckily I don't have kids so no tax benefit. And the approval will more than likely come early 2018 so I don't think I will have any more GST/HST payments coming in.

    I appreciate the advice <3

  4. General question for those of you who are Canadian born (or Canadian citizens) that have moved out of Canada.

What steps do you have to take with the CRA or Service Canada before you move? I've tried researching online but cant really find a lot of information (which I find strange) I'm assuming I just cant up and move without notifying the government lol

Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated!

    Thanks in advance <3

  5. Thank You! that helps a lot, I will definitely make sure it isn't expires. I'm pretty sure the one I got is good for a year, but I also don't mind requesting another one at a later date (it was only $20CAD lol) I just figure they wont send it back for too much information submitted, so I'll just send what we have prepared, and if we have to re-send things for the next step we already have it all handy =) Thanks for your response!

  6. Well, I have copies of everything I'm sending in (saving it in a portable file for the future interview)... so i have it readily available in case I nerdit again.

it won't negatively affect my application if I sent it all now will it?

I have a friend who went through this process last year, and I was following her checklist lol

and with my (the beneficiary ID), it says I need to include a copy of my birth certificate... do I not need that?

  7. Okay, here is what my package looks like:

    1. Cover Letter

    2. Form G-1145 e-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance

    3. A check for the amount of $535.00 to cover the filing fee

    4. Form I-130 Petition for Alien Relative (signed and dated)

    5. Copies of petitioners identification

    6. Copies of relatives identification

    7. Copy of marriage certificate of petitioner and beneficiary

    8. Form G-325 for petitioner (signed and dated)

    9. Form G-325 for beneficiary (signed and dated)

    10. Two passport photos for petitioner (full name written on back of each picture)

    11. Two passport photos for relative (full name written on back of each picture)

    12. Evidence of bona fide marriage (with all supporting plane/bus tickets, joint account info, pictures and letters/cards)

    13. Relatives police clearance letter

    14. Form I-864 Affidavit of Support (with letter of employment, pay stubs for 4 months and 3 years tax statements)

I have removed everything from the binder I originally wanted to send in (because I read on here it shouldn't be in one) and clipped everything together with a large binder clip. I included tab dividers to separate each section and removed all staples I originally has on the pages (apparently that's a no no as well lol) Please tell me if I am missing anything!!! I want to send this thing out Saturday, but just need the extra assurance that its complete.

    Thanks in advance <3
