It depends on your country. It looks as though the NVC schedules interviews for the next month on the last week up the month to the first week of the next month. For example this month they will start at the last week of September to the first week of October for November interview dates. But it really depends on the availability of interviews for your country. When did you send in your package?

My country is Ghana. And i got my last letter from NVC stating that they got all my requested documentation for my case and that i am now in a queue awaiting for my interview appointment at the U.S Embassy. That was on the 27th of July. It will be 2 months this week. In this case when do u think i an get an interview date. Cos i am trying to figure out how there scheduling there dates. And if i will get a date anytime soon. Have you gotten your interview date yet? Thanks

I guess this interview time frame is peculiar to Ghana. I got mine concluded in August, got a mail from NVC on the 8th for my checklist and the interview date on the 11th of the same month with a month notice for second week in September.  I had my interview already, passed with visa issued.

That's great then. Happy for you. Yours didn't take long wow. I wonder why mine is taking so long. Its been like 2 months already since it got to the embassy here. And i have to go through another long wait which i wish could already be over. Hope to get my interview date soon. So u passed your interview and have gotten the visa?

So my wife and two kids had their interview scheduled at 7.30am at the US Embassy in Accra. They arrived there at 6 but entered the embassy building around 7.45am went through the normal proceedings.

She was first called to submit her documents. Only the medical results, passport pictures, postcards, seasonal cards and passport were taken. The rest of the documents including the DS 260 confirmation page, copy of my GC, birth certificates, marriage certificates, Affidavit of support, W2, 2016 tax transcript were all returned to her.

Second person to call her was a young white lady who asked her to take the oath. after that she asked her if we've ever conducted a DNA test on the kids to confirm paternity of which my wife responded in the negative. The CO then remarked that "the kids look very well like their dad".

She then ask each of my kids what their names were and how old they were for which they all answered. My wife was asked to take a seat and after about 10 mins she was called to window 4.

Then there was a funny young man who came to interview them.

    He asked

    1. When last did you see your husband?

    2. Have you travelled before?

    3. and took the new pictures my wife brought

Then he smiled and said "Welcome to America. Everything is in order and your visa is approved" and handed her the blue sheet and described how she can go and collect her visa from the DHL office. He also handed all the documents i sent to NVC back to her.

In all she says the actual interview took less than 4 minutes.

PS: I actually did front and side load my application at USCIS and NVC so it made it much easier for them.

That is wonderful. Congratulations. It is great to hear this news from someone who went for the interview here in Ghana too. Cos i will also be going for the interview in Accra. Please how did you mean by you did front and side load your application at USCIS and NVC which made it much easier? Thanks.

They say u should to choose an agent in us thats what me and my husband did

Yes but then they also said you may act as your own agent or you may choose your petitioner, a family member, friend, attorney, immigration professional, or any other person you trust. You may have an agent that represented you and the petitioner in the petition process with USCIS. However, you will need to formally select an agent to represent you for your visa processing. Here is where we are a bit confused. In the USCIS process we didn't choose an agent. Just got advice from one. So we are thinking if my hubby the petitioner has to be his own agent or get someone. Just want to know the right thing to do. Thanks.

  5. After being approved at the USCIS on the 18th of March 2017.Our case was sent to the Department of State and we received our NVC Welcome letter on Monday. And i thank God so much. Now we are going to start with the steps at the NVC. Please can anyone tell me which agent is advisable to choose cos we are a bit confused whether my husband being the petitioner should be his own agent or choose someone else. ''And please can i get to know how long it will take the whole process at the NVC?  Thanks so much for your correspondence. Hope everyone who hasn't been approved at USCIS will soon get some good news.  All the best everyone.

Congratulations! See the guide available here.

Basically, the following will happen --

    1. It will take anywhere from 2-4 weeks for your application to arrive at the NVC (i.e., Dept. of State). You can and should call them regularly after about 1-2 weeks. Keep asking if your case arrived. When it does you can ask for your CASE NUMBER and your INVOICE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER. You can also give your email address to them at that time to ensure that all future communications will happen over email.
    2. After a few days the application DS-261 will become available online, go ahead and fill it out.
    3. A few days later you'll be able to pay the AOS fee and the IV fees, as well as fill out the DS-260 form online.
    4. Gather up all the materials for the AOS and IV packages and mail it (see the above link for full details).
    5. Keep calling the NVC to see when you're packages are received (i.e., you SCAN date).
    6. After another 6-10 weeks, you can start calling again to see if your application has been approved.
    7. You're application will finally be approved and will then be forwarded to your embassy. You can call again to figure out when you've been assigned an interview (may take up to 1-2 months to receive an appointment).

    Good luck!

Thanks very much for your information. I really appreciate it alot.
