  1. Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum, but not new to the irritating ways of USCIS/INS whatever the hell they call themselves nowadays.

Just wondering if this is normal?

My husband came over here on a K3 visa. We applied for an EAD in March. Receipt date for the EAD was March 12th. So then the case was transferred to the California Service Center on March 19th to "speed up" the processing. Well its now June freakin 18th and I haven't heard anything besides that first NOA giving us the receipt date. What are my options? Someone please help. The website (uscis) says to call customer service immediately if it has been more than 90 days. When I call customer service they have a playback message saying "please allow 180 days from the day your case was transferred before inquiring" - HUH? what do we do?

    SK

  2. today my husband received a call from the embassy asking whether he has ever been to malaysia/indonesia etc and whether this is his 1st pakistani passport. he answered no and yes. then she said you're still on administrative review and your case is being processed. what does all this mean?

Hey Yes i got Call from Embassy on 2nd Week Of This month and they Asked me Same Questions, "have u Ever been Abroad? , i said yes to DUBAI, man Asked any Where Else? i Said No, he asked how many passports u have i told, ..then he said ok send us your "passports" we are working on your case... after i sent my passports.... :crying: they requested an other Security Check from DOS on 18th December..

i ODnt understand What Securtiy check is now.. Dos Says it can take 10 to 120 days

OK! I just called Islamabad Embassy and they told me that my husband's visa was approved yesterday (the day they called him and asked all those questions). It will be printed and stamped within a day or two and will be sent out to him this week. Is it still too early to celebrate?

  3. I'm waiting till the end of February...that'll be 5 and 1/2 months. after that i'm leaving. i dont know what domicile issues could arise. frankly i dont care. i have cousins who have stayed with their spouses in pakistan and have had no problems with any of this when they come here. besides, i dont expect that it'll take an additional 6 months...althouth u never know...these people are so moronic that name checks take them 3 months. i honestly cant believe that there isn't a more efficient way for them to handle these cases. i thought the 'K' visa program was designed to 'unite families quicker without them having to wait for any long security clearances' - then what the hell is AR? why aren't these checks performed upon application. fingerprinting I can understand, but name checks? they've had that information for months! 2 years of marriage and we still haven't started our life together yet. how long are we supposed to wait for a name check? some people get cleared in 3 months and others waiting over a year. is it because some names are longer than others? seriously, i cant understand the "reviewing" that goes on in DC. there's no rhyme or rhythm to the decisions these people make. DOS and consulates usually have different stories...and always NO information for us. i'm surprised no one has become suicidal as a result of USCIS and their incompetency.

  4. My husband has been on AR since 9/15/06. This is crazy. I'm thinking of quitting my job, going back to Pakistan and waiting it out with him. My dad is a co-sponsor so I wouldn't have to worry about not having a job and my husband not being allowed etc on that basis. In fact I'm planning on stopping payment of all my bills too: credit cards, student loans, car payments...they can all contact DOS if they want me to continue paying bills and living here without my husband whom I have been married to for 2 years and have not lived with...its ridiculous

  5. thanks for the DOS info...I had no idea about all this

Anyway, I called DOS. they said they haven't yet received 'the list of checks' from the embassy that they are supposed to run. he had his interview on friday, and its monday so i can understand why they haven't yet received any info. they told me to call back in a week and they would have all his information...as in which checks are to be performed. she said it usually takes 1-3 months but can be quicker. i'm thinking they probably didn't require many checks for my husband because we've been married since dec 2004 and because the interviewer told him it would only be a matter of days...i dont know...maybe i'm just hoping for that...

  6. ok...so like i said...my husband had the k3 interview...the interviewer was really friendly...they kept his passport...gave him some paper with the embassy's contact info on it...told him he would get the visa in a few days.

so today i call isl embassy just because it sounded too good to be true...so the 'visa expert' on the phone tells me your husband is undergoing administrative review....naturally i asked 'how long does that take?' her response...'there is no set time for it but it is usually a minimum of 3 months and is nothing to worry about because 95% of male applicants are subject to review'

now why on earth would they keep his passport if they aren't going to issue him a visa for at least 3 months??????

who do i believe? the lady on the phone or the interviewer? my husband is convinced he'll get it within the next week or two. i'm not so sure now...

  7. hey...i was just wondering...my husband had his interview yesterday and they kept his passport and told him it will be fed ex'd to him in a few days. does a few days really mean a few days or does it mean he's been put on the dreaded administrative review???? i know some of u will ask for my timeline and i'll give it to u in a nutshell

I applied for the I130 in March. Got an NOA in March. Applied for I129F in April. Got an NOA in April. Got a 2nd NOA for the I29F in July. Husband got his interview date for Sept 15th. I130 was approved some time in August but have not yet received any more info on that. I will give detailed dates for anyone who is interested.

I was worried because we are from Peshawar so I thought they might give us a hard time for being in such close proximity to Afghanistan but it seems like he will get his visa right??

oh, and it was for K3
