  1. I don't know what happened here? I am in shock and a little intoxicated. My wife went for a bike ride this morning at 9:30am and never came back. All she took was her money, jewels and passport. I received an email from her cousin in the Philippines 8 hours later that said my wife is safe and for me to move on with my life. I am in shock. I married her in the Phils 18 months ago, she was here 1 day short of two months and she is gone. Day after day she said she was depressed and homesick. The only disagreement we had was yesterday. It was about her $1028.00 cell phone bill where she had been calling the Philippines at $3.00 a minute instead of using our landline international service.

I don't know if I have been used or what. I am just in shock and have nobody to talk with.

    Glenn

I have followed your threads and I can tell you have that long patience for your wife and I salute you for that. I hope you and wife can talk ASAP. My prayers are with you.

  2. Are any of the fiancees out there claiming, if any, their deposit into the govt SSS, Philhealth and Pag-ibig. After all most of us will give up our PI citizenship.. Is this hard to do?
    Hi fellow Vjers,

I would like to share with you my experience with Pag-Ibig. A month before my visa interview date (Feb 13), I dropped by Pag-Ibig to follow up the processing of refund of my brother who had moved to Canada and is now a citizen. In the process of waiting for the check to be released and filling up the waivers and quitclaim, I sort of quipped that I am also planning to stay in the USA if I get a fiancee visa.

The lady Ms. Pearl was so gracious to inform me that I just need to present my fiancee visa and accomplish some of the forms including a history of the dates and employers so they can trace your benefits. And this is just so easy...they even have the affidavit form that you just fill out and have it notarized, attach a photocopy of your visa, and in 3 days, you get a check in your name as refund of your contributions.

I am still amazed at their efficiency.

And for the SSS refund, they need to see that you are already 60 years old and you will have to open a bank account for them to deposit your benefits, and after one month, they will make out the check to you and they will credit your bank account monthly for your pension.

I have no idea about Philhealth.

Feel free to call me at 09229224000 until March 3. I leave on March 4 for Wisconsin for a wedding on March 10.

    Maria

Hello there Maria. I went to PAGIBIG office in Buendia today. They told me that since my Visa is K1,which is a non-immigrant visa,I am not entitled to a refund yet. I wil call you after this,as I have some questions. Thanks alot.

  3. I wish I could go to that Philfest but I will be in Florida on the third week of April... :(

This is your early Welcome to Florida Macky!

    Glenn & Rosemarie

yeah maybe next year, I hope..and hoping for other Philfests around Florida. My fiance will show me the other parts of Florida for two weeks. Can't wait to go back to Miami, I love going to the beach!

  4. Hi Gary. Where will she take the CFO seminar? If its in Taft Avenue in Manila, here's the number 5253114. People there are nice dont worry. Im sure they will be the best people to ask,to make sure. Tell her to call tomorrow. I dont think she need to bring the brown envelope.

The first set of requirements is for the seminar, and second set is if you have the passport with visa already. Because some take the seminar first and wait for the visa then will get the stamp. I also read some were asked for their NSO birth certificate, NBI Clearance and some pictures. Hope this helps.

  5. Hi Gary. I saw you and Luzy at the embassy this morning,I even saw you kissed the passports hahaha. I was at the back of Luzy,I was gonna approach you but I didn't have the energy,I was starving. But,congrats though. Have a safe trip back to America, same with Luzy and her son.

yep, everything went ok, I was waiting for my name to be called at window 37 when I saw you guys. But I was really hungry that time...At least I saw you already in person hehehe

Good luck on your upcoming marriage...

  6. I guess I was lucky, the lady who had my finger scanned was nice, the (male) filipino interviewer was super super nice, and my American consul was super duper nice, hehehe. The documents asked from me were:

    *NBI clearance

    *Birth Certificate

    *emails

    *pictures

    *ITR

    *W2

    *I-134

    *Certificate of employment

The American consul asked me only one question,"what is your fiance's job?", that's it,went to window 37 and paid DELBROS. Advice to those who will be having their interview, eat heavy breakfast coz when I was about to have my interview w/ the Consular Officer, I was starving and I thought I was going to collapse, hehe.

I submitted DS156 EVAF, but it is ok to submit the ones from the packet as some of my seatmates submitted the ones w/out the bar code. Don't leave any blanks, put NA or NONE.

  7. RUTHIEZ,

I printed mine online,But I got two girlfriends who used the form sent by the embassy and got approved, I confirmed with them just now. They had their interview last week.

For Non-immigrant applicants like tourists, they are required to submit the EVAF,since we are under Non-immigrant category,we are required to fill-out same form, did you notice that some of the questions there are not applicable for K1 applicants?

Packet didn't say that EVAf is required.

  8. Good Morning

I tried posting for this Manila Embassy forum but I am not sure how to I think I just posted on the General Embassy forum. I just need a little advice from all of you guys. I have a K1 petition and my fiance is in the Philippines too. He received his packet4 for his upcoming interview. He has the printed DS 156 form, I was going thru the Embassy website and they said we have to use the EVAF or the online DS 156. Is this what we have to use and disregard the printed fomr the was sent by the embassy? Please help. Your advice will be greatly appreciated. By the way thanks for sharing some valuable knowledge to all the readers and members of VJ.

You can use the EVAF, or the form the embassy sent. I heard some fiancees used the form from the packet but they did not encounter any problem, and were APPROVED.

  9. This is really starting to bug me. I sent Luz to pay for the interview. She took with her the DS-156 and the DS-157. The bank said the it was no longer necessary to stamp the forms. They only gave her a signed receipt with some sort of stamp on it. I asked my lawyer about it and he also said that the DS forms don't need any kind of a stamp from the bank. Now which is it? The DS forms stamped or not stamped?

When I went to BPI Magallanes last January 2, they didn't ask for anything, except the money of course. They gave me a validated DS157 with the branch, date and time and the amount at the back. So I will use that form together with the one embassy sent us.
