  1. Hi I filed a re-entry permit last March 2017. I send it to Dallas Dropbox and they transferred it at VSC. Before I left the country last April 2017, I never received anything from them except for the first I-797 or the receipt notice. I'm still here in my country and will be planning to stay for a year to ge back to school. But just 3days ago the current online status of my case was changes to DENIED. I havent receive any biometrics appointment yet. Thats why its a little confusing why they denied my application. I can't go back to US cause I'm already enrolled and school starts this monday. Its like they cashed my check and after more than 2 months they just denied it. I dont have anything in mind for them to deny it. Please if anyway has the same situation, please share it here. Thank you.

I had an infopass meeting and they allowed me to do my biometics 8 days early, although they required I had my biometrics appointment letter with me.

When did you get your NOA1 for the I-131? An infopass meeting usually happens a week or two after you book it so you may have your letter in the wait. Try booking an infopass meeting and hope the biometrics letter turns up. I wish you well!

I got my NOA1 last March 24. I hope I'll receive my appointment notice soon. Can you share your timeline for your re-entry permit application? And what service center is working on your case. Thank you so much.

Ah... the I-797 notice.  Sorry.   Did you sign up for texting or email notices?  That should handle what you are asking.   https://www.uscis.gov/g-1145

Where is all your mail going while you are gone?  Anyone collecting it or are you putting a hold on it at the Post Office?

Yea I sign up for the email and text notice. All our mail with be sent in our home address, a friend would just check everyday for us.

Just today, I receive my notice, I sent my application at Texas Service Center and they sent it to Vermont service center, and I think VSC is taking like 5months to process re-entry permit and I'm worried I might not receive the biometrics appointment before I leave on April 25. Will doing infopass help to get my biometrics earlier without notice? I'm really worried.

    Okay that is very confusing!

The EAD/AP card will be approved from NBC. You AOS case might have been transferred.

If you haven't done your bio yet then you must have just filed?

And leaving in a month you can't do if you haven't gotten then AP card. Or yes you can leave but not enter again.

Oops I think you quote the wrong response. Im a different person from the one who started this topic. Though I have different problem.

  5. Hi my situation is I put my exact departure date on my re entry permit but they transferred my application at VSC which on their current processign time is taking them 5 months to work on i-131. Now I'm worried I might not receive biometric appointment before I leave on April 25 and I just receive my Notice of receipt today. Do you have any idea if doing infopass without biometric application can help? Thanks. :(

  6. Hi guys, i filed my i-131 last week and just got the acceptance notice. And I need to leave on April 25, there has been a change in the school opening thats why I cant change my departure since I still have to do a lot of paperworks for my study abroad. I'm worried that I wont be able ro receive the biometrics appointment before I leave. Anyone who tried to do infopass appointment and have their biometrics taken even without appointment? I'm really worried. :(  I would appreciate all response. Thank you all.

  7. Hi guys I just receive email and text from USCIS regarding my re entry permit, saying it was transferred to VSC. I did not expect them to transfer it since the current processing time for I-131 is VSC is like 5mos. I'm leaving on April 25, I can't move it anymore. Do you think I will be able to have my biometrics appointment before that date? If not what is the best thing to do? Please share your experience. Thank you so much. I'm so worried about my situation.

I filed on 16 November and just got approval on 24 Feb.  Still don't have the physical document, but it was mailed today so should be here by early next week, latest.

You're looking at 100-115 days roughly, unless they clear the backlog.

The VJ timeline estimate will likely be pretty accurate.

Hi, How long after sending them the application did you receive biometrics appointment?

  9. Hi,

With my re-entry permit, since our whole family will be on a vacation for a couple of months, there's a question on the form,

"where should the notice to pick up the travel document be sent?"

I'm planning to put a Philippine address, I just wanna know if anyone here had a experience of receiving any kind of notice from USCIS to the Philippines? Did they used FEDEX, UPS, DHL etc.? And how long did it take to receive it? I'm just worried since the mailing system in the Philippines kinda sucks and I'm worried that I might not receive it. THANKS EVERYONE.

I guess I was doing some assuming... and one should never do that.  ;)

I thought you had your green card and were planning to be outside the USA for 1 year or more, so needed a re-entry permit.  What you are doing is exiting the USA without a green card and wanting the AP card for entry again?

    I will approach this differently.

Do you have a green card?  Did you apply for your green card?  Did you apply for the Advance Parole at the same time (free when doing so) ?

Oh I'm sorry I did not mention that one, yes I have my green card already and I'm planning to be out of the country for a year. I did not apply for a advance parole. And I think what I need is a re-entry permit.

You did state you plan to be OUTSIDE the USA and to have the card delivered OUTSIDE the USA didn't you?   And you did ask for the process to do this?

If you have changed your mind about sending it outside the USA then no you don't need to check 1.f.

You're right, but you have to pick 1.f  if you're only applying for a re-entry permit for someone who is outside USA, right? Since I'm still here and I'm applying for myself I'm choosing 1.a. There is another part of the form where it ask you to where to send the document, you can have it send to the applicant's address of a US embassy outside the country. Correct me if I'm wrong, cause I just completed the form earlier.

You would check box 1.f.  (states applying for someone who is outside the USA)   Then in 2.h. - p.  you give the alternate delivery address.

Do you know if the embassy will accept it being delivered there?  Then notify you to come retrieve it?    Just a curious thought.

As an option.   You could have it delivered to family in the USA and they could FEDEX it to you.

I'm applying for myself so I don't think I need to fill up those (1.f.) and 2-h.-p

Yes officially you don't need one for absences less than 12 months, however, we have had more than one border guard recommend getting one for any absence more than six months.

I am actually still thinking on whether to apply for one or not. I will be leaving last week of April. And one more reason why I can't decide is the money, cause I know the re-entry permit would cost around $600. :(
