Now the next step: I'm starting the process to file I-130 for my parents and sister.

Looks like I won't be done with USCIS for a while!

Sorry for the multiple posts.

I was getting frustrated so I changed the formatting so that each row would fit on one line and tried to line up the columns, so now it looks good (at least on my computer). (Of course we really should use tables, but that's another topic)

Looks like 19 of 44 have taken the oath ceremony so far.

Of course, I am sure many others have done it, but just didn't update the table.

As for me, I did the voter registration right at the oath ceremony, filed for my US passport on Wednesday and as soon as I get it back I will update my social security and be fully done with this process.

Just got back!

I only had to provide 2 things:

(1) Green Card

(2) The signed  and filled in notification form

I was worried about my foreign trip  and had brought some documents but he didn't ask for them. He just asked which country I traveled to and how long I was there.

So basically, don't worry about it if you have a foreign trips.

For the DC people I can give the following specific tips:

(1) The courtroom doesn't open until AFTER 800am so if you get there at 7am you will have to stand in the corridor for a while. Better to plan to get there at 745 to minimize waiting around.

(2) People are assigned a random number and then called in numbered order, so there is no advantage to getting there earlier.

(3) It says to come at 8am but the ceremony starts at 10am, so tell the family and friends to come at 930-945 so they don't have to just sit for 2 hours.

I am going for Oath Ceremony today!

I had one foreign trip since the interview so I will have provide documents for that. 

But basically, in 8 hours I should be an American!

There is a form on the back of the notice that you are supposed to fill the day of your oath ceremony and it asks about any trips outside the US among other questions and the officers ask the same questions when you check in at the oath ceremony location too. Everybody including my self said no to all questions so not sure what they might say or do when you say you have traveled abroad but i'm guessing it should be okay since people travel all the time.

Make sure  you take any green cards, travel documents, work permit and other cards USCIS has ever issued to you (expired ones too). Some people forgot to bring expired cards and stuff and were told to  bring those first thing Monday morning but were allowed to take the oath. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the tip to bring all expired documents.

I will also print out my flight itinerary and any documents related to the purpose of the trip.

I think you should call them. 

I did my interview March 18, but was not getting any response so I called them at 1 (800) 375-5283.

The first person doesn't know anything, insist on speaking to a level 2 person. Explain that you've waited a long time.

It was actually a positive experience, they were very friendly!

That is correct. It seems DC may be a bit slower than some other states. The standard seems like it's 6 months but DC seems a bit more backed up, especially in scheduling oaths. Probably because they do it only once a month and the courtroom may not be that big. States that have multiple dates or multiple venues may be able to accommodate people faster.

As I mentioned, I did my interview on Saturday, March 18, and it happens that I fedexed my application on Sunday, September 18, so if I'd gotten same day oath it would have been EXACTLY 6 months for me. I would have my passport at least a month ago by now!

But yes, if you're a DC resident, be prepared to wait 9 months. I see you're a March 2017 filer so hopefully you finish the process by December 2017.

Question: I will travel outside the US between now and the oath ceremony (big work trip, couldn't cancel even if I wanted to).

It's probably nothing but you should call and ask to speak to a Level 2 officer.

When you speak to the first person tell them it's been more than 3 months and insist on speaking to a Level 2.

I did and they were very friendly and actually gave me useful information that wasn't on the website (the first level doesn't know anything beyond what's on the web).
