  1. Hi everyone,

My fiancee and I applied for a K-1 visa long ago, I had my medical exam already and my interview in Ankara is on Tuesday 11th.

When looking for what documents are required, we always saw that we need to submit the I-134 affidavit of support only, that's also what our lawyer said. I received an email from the embassy, however, which I noticed too late because it landed in junk mails, that says that we also need the I-864. In the mail there is the I-864 and I-134 in the "All applicants" section but the I-864 is not in the "details for each applicant" section. This is a bit confusing and it's the first time that I read I need that form for a K-1 visa. Do you think we should get it done quickly with high shipment costs or do I misunderstand something? I appreciate your help. Extract of email is below with only the important details:

Documents to bring with you (all applicants)

    * I-134, Affidavit of Support (Original), If you are a Diversity or Fiancée Visa applicant and you have a sponsor, then you should use I-134 Affidavit of Support form.

    * I-864, Affidavit of Support (Photocopy).

    Details for each applicant

    Applicant 1: R. A.
Status: Interview Scheduled; Interview Appointment: 11 July 2017, 08:30
    Documents and/or Actions Required:

    * I-134, Affidavit of Support (Photocopy).

The exact same thing happened to us. We got a RFE saying that we had no evidence of having met in person, though we lived in the same country for 9 months and provided lots of evidence to prove it.

My suggestion would be to go through whatever they are asking more thoroughly and REALLY make sure you are spelling it out for them.

It did slow us down somewhat. Your post is making me wonder if its something to do with Turkey these days, honestly.

We already received notification from the embassy. Finally :)

  3. Hi friends,

My wife-to-be and I were waiting to receive our approval from the UCSIS. Just now I received a status update, saying that they are asking for additional evidence. They mailed us. It's not there yet, but whatever it is, even if we send them everything they want immediately, I have this feeling, they will let us wait very long for a response on that again. Anyone who had the same case can confirm it?

I don't know what the matter is. Our lawyer said our documents were the best ones she'd ever seen but now we're asked for additional evidence... Does anyone know how much this would delay our process?

    Thanks in advance

  4. Hello,

Me and my American girlfriend filed for K1 on 09.12.2016 and are still waiting for progress. She was pregnant when we started it and we were hoping to finish the process before the birth. Yesterday the birth happened and we have a beautiful healthy baby and she's happy and alright, too. Even though we didn't expect anything, we also applied for an expedite process before but got no response on that either.

Now that our child is born, I just want to go and see them. I guess every father understands this :) I will surely wait for the end of our K1 Visa but I want to visit them as well, which might be problematic as I changed my employer just recently and was officially unemployed for a few months before. Is there anyone with experience who could make a suggestion about how to proceed?

Will the born baby make any difference for a visa or can it change the length of the process? I'd surely contact the embassy to find out more, it's just too tricky to get through and to get an answer.

Please tell me also if there is anything that we have to take into consideration due to our baby.

    Thanks in advance!
