  1. Hi,

I am thinking about applying for the US citizenship but don't want to give up my German citizenship. It seems like you have to make a case to the German consulate about needing both citizenships. Now I am wondering if anyone has applied successfully for dual citizenship (German/US). If so what kind of reasons did you give the German consulate?

Thanks appreciate any help or advice.

  2. We just got an RFE on a K1 AOS because we didn't submit a birth certificate. I thought that since we already established identity for the K1 visa, the passport and visa copies would be sufficient. I guess not...

Did we get screwed? Not that it matters, just kind of annoying.

Anyway, now we need to get the German birth certificate translated into English. I think it is in Germany right now, and as I understand it, it's kind of like a book. Are there official translators that do this? How can I find one? How much money is it? Does it need to be notarized or anything like that?

    Thanks for the help!

  3. :help: Hi,

I am sure lots of you guys out there had the same problem, question as me. I got married and wanna change my last name now, so it means I need to get a new passport ( I am from Germany and AOS is pending), so I asked the German embassy here in the USA, they can issue a new passport only if I don't have any residency in Germany anymore, but the thing is I am going to keep Germany as my second residency. i am sure other of you wanted to do the same, but how did u get the new passport, did u travel a back to Germany to get this done or how? Thanks for your help (F) .
