  1. Thanks Immigrant!

Yes, I filed from CSC. I hope you get your approval soon from VSC too! Crossing my fingers for ya!

    Hi Our Mao,

First of all Congratutions!!!. At 1st I thought your were VSC, but you were at CSC. I think VSC will be done with Jan cases by 3rd week of this month by looking at recent approvals.

  2. Sorry if my post sounded confusing. My 2 year green card expired on Apr 28, 2009. On Jan 28, 09 we filed to remove the conditions. Sent the application with evidence overnight to CSC. Early Feb, we got the NOA saying it's automatically renewed for a year. The NOA has your case number on it. . you can sign up at USCIS for an online update. I added my case number on USCIS's website so I can track the status of my applicatoin online.

In late Jan, (forgot the exact date), got the letter telling me to get my biometrics done. Got my biometrics done in Feb, 09. On Feb 25, 09, that was the final update I got after the biometics saying it's received and pending... then it was nothing for March.. April... May.. and yesterday, I checked my mail at home and got the approval letter. The decision date was May 26, 2009.

When I checked online on Jun 1, it still said received and pending and touched in Feb, 09.

I guess what I'm seeing is the approval is not in sync with the online status so just because your online status is not moving.. dont despair!

    Dear VJers,

I haven't posted in such a long time... but I'm happy to say that my application to remove conditions filed on January 28, 2009 was approved without RFE. Funny because I was checking online yesterday and my status still said pending (Feb 25, 09) When I got home last night, I found a letter from USCIS saying I've been approved. Decision date was May 26, 2009.... In the letter it told me to check to make sure my name and address is correct. They didn't spell out my full first name but ony put my first initial... is that ok??? I did put my full name and the name that I want to appear on my green card on the application!?

Does your approval letter spell out your entire first name? There is two parts to my first name (e.g. C.K.) but they only put C. Is that oK?

    Congratulation..

I sent my application May 28th, 2009.. you said you was checking it online. How is that? I get confirmation that it was received by USPS tracking number because I sued money order not personal check i do not know if they cash it or no..

    Congratulations again and best wishes..

  4. Quick question,

I changed my maiden name to my husband's last name on my US driver's License, SSN, Canadian Passport and all my credit cards. I did not do a name change on my green card. Is that necessary? And if so, how do I go abouts doing that?

I will file in Dec to have my conditoins removed and was wondering if I should spend the extra money to have that done. If I dont get it done, will I be in any sort of trouble?

I am going to visit Canada in July so my passport and my green card will not match (last name only, everything else is the same) I plan to bring my old passport with my maiden name on it. Do you think that'll be ok? (Husband traveling with me, dont know if that'll make a difference?!)

Anyone in that situation before? Please advise.. thanks!

  5. Hello Glady,

I am right behind you.... Definitely call NVC around June 15th... and check out the Canada forum

    Let's keep each other updated!

    All the best!

    -- Karen

Since NVC schedules the IR1/CR1 interviews, are they normally scheduled quicker than if the montreal consulate scheduled it?! I know this is wishful thinking, just seeing if anyone knows.

Yes, from my personal experience, I would have to say that for CR1/IR1 interviews, it's scheduled quicker than K3 and K1 interviews in Montreal. That was in April of this year. I dont know if they're still keeping that up.

  6. My case was completed on May 29th 2007 and i'm trying to get a sense of when to expect an interview. Also is there a possibility of changing Embassys this late in the game from montreal to vancouver?

    hi GLady,

Congrats on your case being completed. From the date that your case has been completed, I think you will DEFINITELY get an interview date around July 13-15.... If I were you, I would call them around July 14.. and ask to see if a date has been assigned to you.. it will most probably be an interview date in AUGUST......

If you really wanna push it, you can also call on June 15 to see if you have a date for July... but because your case was completed end of May... people whose cases were completed between May 1 to May 28 are all ahead of u... if the spots were all given up.. then you'll have to wait for july... but if u're lucky.. u might get a date in July!

    Call this friday....

my time line was: Feb 13, case completed... March 15.. got interview date for APril 13...

  7. I'm Canadian, was on TN and married an American in Canada. BIG NO NO!!!!

We married on the Saturday, tried to return to the US on Monday and they confiscated my TN AND won't let me return. Same as what some of the other said, I have 'immigrant intent' now that I married an America. My TN was void. I had to go through the entire CR-1/K3 process and it took TEN FREAKING MONTHS. So unless you plan to be apart from your fiancee after you get married, do the civil ceremony in US and then file for AOS right away! Do the ceremonial wedding at a later date... it's a hassle.. but totally worth it.. You dont wanna be like me! We were married for TWO DAYS and were separated for TEN MONTHS.. no one believes it when we tell them.. but oh well.. that was last June... the nightmare's over.. and I'm moving on with my life!

  8. UPDATE:

I got a letter from the USCIS yesterday. It was my Welcome to America Letter. It says that they have received the package from the Vancouver POE and will take around 30 days to get a response from them. So I THINK I'm on the right track? I'll wait 30 days and see what happens.. Maybe they'll send me the temporary green card! I will continue to update if I hear anything from them. FYI I crossed on Apr 28 from Vancouver. I got the letter on May 14, so around 2+ weeks. Not bad! So the customs officer was not correct. They didn't hold on to it until they collect a bunch before they shipped it off?! (Unless I was the last of the bunch to be shipped off) Eitherway, i'm ok with it !

  9. I crossed the border on Apr 28, 2007 from the Vancouver International Airport. Very quiet day, not busy. Was shipped into secondary. The officer was very nice.. and said... ooh... we can't stop you now! (he could tell that i was denied before) He was kidding around.. not trying to be mean or anything.. So he looked through all the papers.. and told me.. that my visa is my temporary green card... because on the bottom.. there is a line that says: once it's endorsed, this will act as the temporary green card. I was surprised because a lot of you said that they usually tell you that your temporary green card will be mailed to you in 2-4 weeks ? So I asked him why.. and he repeated that phrase to me again!? He said, what they do is, they wait for a bunch of those documents (the ones in the brown envelope) and ship it to Texas in 1 go... he said i SHOULD be getting a new green card by December.. and if I dont, to call 'someone' and check to see what's going on...

Now my question to you guys is: Has anyone came across the above situation? Can someone help me?

    thanks!

PS: All settled down in the states now.. back to work on Apr 30... so busy!

  10. Yeah!!!! Congratulations!! =D ^__^

PS: Canada post delievered my Visa yesterday but no one's home so they dropped it off at the post office near my house. Will pick it up after work!

Montreal dropped it off in the mail at 4:30pm on Monday. I got it in Vancouver on Wednesday. Speedy Service!
