  1. Hello everyone,

Its been at least 7 or 8 years since I posted in this wonderful forum. I'm not sure but I hope this is the right section to ask this question. Does anyone here know or have an idea when the oath taking ceremonies usually take place. This past November 5th my wife had her interview in San Antonio. Does anyone know when we should expect the ceremony to take place this late in the year or maybe they will typically just do it after the new year. Just trying to plan because we will be out of town the 1st half of January.

    Thank you in advance

  2. devilette,

    Because it's actually quicker?

If you don't like that answer, because real men don't ask directions - they read the map?

    Scott,

The form instructions and the form introduction page on the USCIS web site both state quite clearly how to address the submittal.

    Yodrak

Yes, but why read instructions when one can just ASK?

lazy lazy lazy. That means they trust some internet board instead of reading on their own? For my husband's future, you better believe I read the instructions MANY times to be sure. Geez, why can't anyone else?

Yeah, my husband likes to 'read the map' but it doens't make him a better navigator! ;)

you are right but if I had seen it in the instrutions I wouldnt be asking it here, right?

  3. Hi,

To those who got their visa approved and are residents of the Philppines. Was it difficult to purchase a one way ticket? Usually when i've bought tickets for her before (for our holidays out of the Philippines), I've been told by a travel agent one time that it had to be round-trip tickets because she has a Philippine passport. Did you have any problems just purchasing a one way ticket to the U.S. for your fiance? The U.S. visa in her passport doesn't really state that she's an immigrant (which actually she's not yet) or anything that would prove she's staying for good. I just don't want to have to pay for a round trip ticket or an expensive one just so I could get a refund for half of it later.

    thanks for any advice.

    Hello,

The only problem was when my [fiancee then]wife now tried buying the ticket before she had her visa in hand. She was required to show her visa before she can purchase the ticket out of the Philippines.Once she had her visa, she went to a travel agent and booked her own 1 way ticket with Philippine Air to LAX,and payed for it with no problem.Their was no need to buy a round trip ticket when you have a K1 fiancee visa.

Hope this helps, good luck to you,

    Scott

  4. Hi everyone!! I'm new here and i just recently returned from my trip to the philippines to meet my now fiancee. now that i've returned and been reading up on all the procedures and learning about this whole process,i've been wondering what sort of evidence do i need to submit as part of my I-129f package? I've been concerned mostly because there wasn't many pics taken that may be of use and perhaps i could submit what i do got. any help or guidance in this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Mike,

My wife is from the Philippines and we went through this same process and I seen some other posts here say that you may not need pics and they arent as important. That might be true in the countries thier fiancees live in,but in the Philippines the consuls are pretty strict. You are going to want to be prepared to show them when they ask and trust me,they will ask along with copies of your boarding passes, passport stamp airlines, hotel reciepts,$conversion reciepts.I dont think you can ever have too much evidence.Even if they dont ask for all of it,you want to be prepared just in case.If you dont have pics together, with her and her family in places that are known places or in front of any signs or landmarks, you need to get some before you file your petition.I think that all these things are vital, you dont want an RFE that will delay you even as you start to file.It is better to have peace of mind knowing you covered these, then it should be easy. This whole visa process is to prove your relationship is true and genuine and for the next 8 months at least,it is your job to prove it.

    Good luck to you

  5. Hi all,

My fiance will be coming next month after what seemed like a very very long wait..We have been lucky, things have gone well without any problems so far.

I was trying to get a sense of whats the process after she enters US...specifically , how soon we can get a court marriage done?

Does she need a SSN# to get married in california/Vegas? If so, then the guide on VJ says to wait atleast 2 weeks before aplying for a SSN#, right? How long does it take to get a SSN#?

    Thanks,

    Bav

My wife and I got married in Vegas just 2 days after she arrived to the U.S.No SSN was needed to obtain the marriage liscence. She arrived on Feb 12th.On the 13th we went to the courthouse, payed the $55,showed them her visa and passport and her birth certificate. In 15 minutes we had our liscence. We got married the following day on Valentines Day.But that was Las Vegas and they are fast.Other states I hear take up to 2 weeks.

As for the SSN.We went to the social security office and filled out the form that also can be downloaded, showed them her passport with the valid I94 that is attatched to it,and marriage certificate. She just recieved hers in only 1 week.

    I hope this helps,good luck,

    Scott

  7. I am wondering if anyone knows the whole # I need to dial when I am calling from Texas.

this is all I can find.

The Immigrant Visa Information Call Center which can be reached at 1-909-101-7878 is available Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm (Philippine Time). There is a fee assessed to callers by the call center for its services

    Also I seen these 63-528 6300,63-925286300,63-923384129

When Icall my fiancee I just call 011-639-214-***-***

Please help if some one knows

    Thank you,

    Scott

  8. Take a look at my signature. In my case, it took about a week for the CSC to acknowledge receipt of my RFE. So wait a couple more days.

Cool!! Have To WAit And See what Happens Then ;) Thanks So Much!!! Hope They Acknowledge Sooner.....Thanks For The Info!!!

It is true they dont always update on their site.It is good news for you that the tracking #says they got it.They dont always respond right away.Give it a little more time,I know the wait is so hard but it seems that it has only been 1 week.I am sure that soon you will get a touch or a email. :D Then NOA2!!!!

    Good Luck

  9. We have been waiting to get word from NVC about our new case #.We got approved on Aug.31.So we read on a post here in VJ and someone said that we can email them and they would respond.Sure enough we did,and it took 2 days only for them to respond with our new case #.Also as a bonus they said it was already forwarded to the U.S.Embassy in Manila. :thumbs:I am checking the mail box everyday for a notice.

    Scott

  10. WOW! Now I am a bit impressed. :P Today I called NVC to check on the progress of my petition. First of all, I was so suprised that I was actually talking to a real live person within 2 minutes of dialing. :D She was very nice and helpful. After verifing my identity, I was informed my case arrived there on 9/25/06 and was leaving today for the embassy!!! We are sooooooo happy!!!! Things seem to moving well for us now.

For those still waiting, I do wish you the best and pray for a speedy approval for each of you.

:dance::dance: Anybody want to dance?:dance::dance::dance:

good news, congratz to you.It is very encouraging for the rest of us because it sounds like they are starting to be on the move again.

  11.

This is turning into a real circus at this point. It has now been three weeks and still nothing at the NVC. What is the f'ing problem?!?!

You know I have been feeling the same way after a few phone call to the NVC and nothing. So I decided to email them at

    NVCInquiry@state.gov

To my surprise just 2 days later they responded with some good news that my case has been not only recieved by them but also forwarded to the U.S. Embassy.Just give them your original reciept # and your name and fiances name and country.I am sure they will response for you.

    Good luck

    Scott
