  1. First, let me thank anyone in advance for helping me.

I am a US citizen helping my parents to get green card. Now, their interview is coming up next month, and I would like to know the following:

    1. Both their I-485 and I-130 are pending. I can understand I-485 is pending, but it is strange that I-130 is also pending... is that normal?

    2. On the interview date, I will go with them. Does my wife need to go? on the financial Affidavit, I am the only sponsor, and we did not have to use the income from my wife.

    3. Can I be the interpreter, or, do I need to find another person as the interpreter, can this interpreter simply a friend of mine?

    4. exactly what document do I need to bring? the notice also mentioned I-693 and I-863, all these forms are part of the original application package - so that means I don't have to bring them again, right? In fact, I don't even have the medical form (I-693) at all, since I submited the original copy issued by the immigration doctor.

thank you for your kind heart, and I look forward to hearing from any help soon!

p.s. I forgot to mention that my parents are here in the US, not in our home country.thanks.

  2. Hi all,

I am a new person here, and again, appreciate any possible input and kind help.

so far, I am a USC originally from China. My parents are here with me for more than 6 months. About 3 months ago, we submitted GC application for them. So far, we are waiting for a interview to be scheduled.

My question is, IF they leave US now without a AP (which I understand that means giving up the whole application), can they some times later in their lives start a *brand new GC application* when in China, using the Consular Processing? Would the current case have any bad impact on them?

    thanks!

  3. Thank you very much for the reply!

Yes, they are not interested in living here, but as their son, I just wanted to be nice and to provide them with all the options... oh well, I am here already, so I will continue on this.

Now your reply still gave me plenty of information, very helpful, so thanks again.

    A few follow-ups:

    1. you have to pay the i824 to move the i130 to NVC  - the I-130 is still pending... so it is movable even it is pending?

    2. then you have to pay the i864 affidavit of support - I filed for i-864 when I submitted the whole package 3 months ago... so you are saying I need to file that again?

    3. and the DS260 for each of them  - what is this?

Again, you have given me lots of information. Thank you and thank you!

  4. Hi everyone,

I am originally from China and I am now a US citizen and I am applying for GC for my parents now, who are in the US with me (for a little over 6 months by now). We started the application on Oct 20 of 2016. Both of them have their finger prints done, I-130 and I-131 are pending, the status of I-485 is "waiting for interview to be scheduled".

My question is: can we switch from I-485 to Consular Processing? My parents have been living in the US for a little more than 6 months now and they wanted to go back to China, since they really miss home. But we do NOT want to give up the application and they do want to be able to go back to US some day. So would it be possible for us to use Consular Processing instead of waiting on I-485 interview?

Any suggestion will be highly appreciated!!!
