VSC - I got my letter on the 21st (decision date 16th). My status changed to "We mailed you the card" on the 26th. It's the 30th and I have not received it yet.

That sounds almost exactly what my timeline was. I assumed when they said mailed my card, they meant the letter I got in the post. Hopefully they do mean the card and it is on it's way. Thanks!

  2. HI all. I got my hard copy letter today letting me know that my new green card is on the way. It says the green card should be received within the next 60 days. Does anyone know if it actually takes them 60 days, or do they usually get these sent off sooner? I'm curious as I would like to have a card in hand rather than having to go get a stamp in my passport if I want to pop over to Canada. thanks!

  3. Hi All I was asked for more evidence back on May 30th, I gathered a whole pile of more docs and sent it off, they received it on June 2nd at the Vermont office. I'm just curious, anyone have any idea or a ballpark timeline for how long it takes them to come to a decision after asking for more documentation? I've heard as little as two weeks, but I am not sure if this is common place. Thanks!

Make sure to include a cover letter listing the evidence you're including and also an explanation of why most of your evidence doesn't start until 2016. It will be fine, and frankly, an interview at this stage should be easy... you'll get the chance to sit side by side and demonstrate the fact that you're "really married" and it's always easier to explain things in person than on paper anyway.

    Don't worry - you'll be fine

Thank you so much, that is very helpful and reassuring. Any guess on the time frame after they receive the additional docs? I've heard as low as two weeks to a couple of months. I suppose it is anyone's guess huh?

  6. HI All. my wife and I submitted our I751 in June 2016 to Vermont. We just got a request for more evidence. Not going to lie, kind of freaking out. They pointed out in the letter that the tax return I sent was not the actual confirmed receipt , which is my fault I will send this along  with our most recent joint tax return too, and they also mentioned that the joint lease I sent was only the first page of the lease and not the entire document, again, my fault I will send this along. I am a little worried as my wife and I were living with family during the first year or so, and didn't really start getting relevant docs until 2016. I am getting sworn affidavits from my wife's family relating to this.   I also didn't start full time work until the summer of 2016, so I now have my wife as a beneficiary on my work life insurance and she is on my work dental plan, I plan on sending all this along too.  I'm just worried since a lot of our docs are for the past couple of years and not all the way back to 2014. Any thoughts, I'm Canadian, and interview would seem bizarre at this stage, and my wife and I have been living together since 2009, and married since 2014.

    Hi!

Basically, you'll have to make an appointment to go back to the USCIS office and they give you a stamp in your passport that gives you another year's extension. Some people have described having trouble getting an appointment, so I'd start looking for one a month or so before your extension letter expires.

    Awesome, great advice, thanks!

There is still a long time to next summer. Things could significantly change but if VSC continues as is, it is highly likely you won't hear anything back before next summer. Your GC is still valid until it's expiration date plus 1 year. If your case is still pending getting close to that date or you need to travel internationally maybe within 1-2 months to that date, you should make an infopass to get a I551 stamp. Don't worry too much about it now, long time ahead of you.

Thank for the info, very helpful!

  9. Hi all, new to the form , I submitted my I-751 form back in June 2016, it was received in Vermont on June 13, 2016 (I got my extension for a year. When I went to get my bio-metrics here in Portland (I'm lucky the office is minutes from my home here in Maine), the lady told me it would take year. However judging by the backlog in Vermont, I don't see mine being processed before the end of August 2017. Anyone have any idea on the timeline with Vermont, the website says they are still working on 2015?! Should I expect to get another extension in August?
