I decided to risk it and hope that I won't get a RFE letter. If I do I will have to fly back to the US or write them a rescheduling letter... otherwise I am planning to enter the US with my extension letter.

I just applied for a new passport, but my ROC petition is still pending. Once I get the passport, do I have to notify USCIS of this new passport number/expiration date?

Hi there!

I filed my ROC petition in November with the Vermont Service Center. I understand this will take a long time (11 months)

But my wife and I are now thinking of a 6 month long travel around the world later this year. If I leave before I have the "permanent" green card in hand will I have any problems? Especially:

• Can I enter the US with my conditional green card + extension letter even if my permanent greencard is at home in my mailbox?
• In the unlikely (?) case that I get an RFE, I can presumably just mail back the information to the USCIS. Or does it typically request an interview? If I get an RFE, at which time in the process should I expect to get it?
• Any other issues with being out of the country long-term while my petition is adjudicated?
