  1. We received a letter for our K-1 AOS interview that said that "As of June 1, 2014, USCIS has limited the validity period for all Forms I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, to one year from the date of submission to USCIS."   If they don't enforce this, then great for you.  But maybe don't count on it.  I assure you the examiner asked for the new medical exam on our interview.

  2. We must have received a different I-797 NOA than you.

Our interview notice, dated August 2018, had an extensive list of things that it said we MUST bring to the interview saying that, "failure to bring the below listed items will result in the denial of your application."

The examiner did not ask for all of the items on the list, but we sure brought everything on the list and it worked for us.  On both our embassy interview and the AOS interview the examiners complimented us on our preparation.  Your mileage may differ.

FYI I am sure this question is addressed on this website.

  3. This may be helpful.  The specific language from our letter is, "As of June 1, 2014, USCIS has limited the validity period for all Forms I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, to one year from the date of submission to USCIS.  Base on these new regulations, your I-693 Medical Examination has expired."  I believe this is 1 year from the date of submission of the I-693, not the I-485, as this is the plain reading of the language and we received this letter less than one year after our I-485 AOS application was submitted.

We luckily got a letter as otherwise, we would not have known.

But this is just one letter and one experience.  Your mileage may vary.

  4. Good idea to call.  I just called.  They said in New York, it is now 12- 17 months processing estimate and they are now working on November, 2016 applications.  This is about 1 year before we filed September, 2017.  So it seems that realistically it won't be 17 months processing time, but more like 30 months for processing our adjustment of status.  And the lady said this office had faster turn around than others she has seen.  So now we know.

  5. How urgent is it to add my K-1 spouse to the house title in an equitable distribution state in preparation for the AOS interview?  Her name is on the bank accounts.  We have not received AOS interview date yet though we were told in October, 2017 that we would get an interview.  So I am wondering how urgent this is.  I think this is all evidence to show on-going relationship and bona fide intent to marry.   Are we in trouble if the transfer doesn't happen before the interview?

  6. Can the skin tb test be done before the medical exam and the results brought in?  Alternatively, can you have the results read at another clinic?  Do you have to make 2 appointments at the medical examination office - 1 for the tb innoculation and the second for the reading?

Is the tb test required for all non-immigrants K-1, K-2?

Because if everything has to be done at the medical examination clinic, then the interview cannot be done before 2 days after the innoculation.  Is this right?

  7. 1  The application ID is located in the top right hand corner of your DS-160 application.  Copy this number down.

2  You picked a password when you created the DS-160 application.  Write this down.

3  To access the application, your fiance only needs to first click on the "retrieve an application button" on the first screen.  Then input the ID and password on the next screen.  Your fiance accesses the DS-160 application just like you do.

  8. First, for 5 weeks, our I-129F was stuck at USCIS.  I called the NVC almost every day and then thought, maybe I need to call the USCIS to find out if it has been mailed.  I called, spoke with a supervisor and was told it had not been mailed yet. The USCIS said I could do nothing but wait 90 days.  (The NVC had been saying 6 weeks and the USCIS letter said 30 days.)

Second, I immediately went to my congressman's office, (representative), filled out an inquiry form, and the staffer called and was told the application had not been mailed to the NVC yet.  The staffer said wait 30 days to follow-up.  The staffer knew whoever she was talking to and they had a friendly conversation.  It was only an inquiry as to status i.e. "has the application been mailed to the NVC."

Third, 2 days later, I spoke with a supervisor at USCIS who said our application had been mailed to the NVC.  Miracle or coincidence - you decide.

Fourth, 3 days after calling the USCIS, I called the NVC and we now have a case #.  Miracle or coincidence - you decide.

Moral of the story.  Simple phone call by a congressman's staffer seems pretty powerful.  Do it.

  9. Thanks for the suggestion.  I'll call and ask to speak with a 2nd tier at both the uscis and nvc in a few days.

I also just called my US Representative and was told to go to his office on Wednesday to sign a release of information for him to start an inquiry.

(this forum says people are getting nvc processing in 1-2 weeks, the uscis notice says 30 days, the nvc says 6 weeks, the uscis agent by telephone says upto 90 days - just to lick a stamp.)
