Hi Kbmoon. It was a nightmare dealing with this, but luckily for me, Canada Post was able to find our package 5 weeks later. Canada post said the package was placed in one of those huge cargo containers(not sure how) by mistake. Throughout this whole process, I was working directly with a representative from CSRA(Courier), i'm not sure if the embassy still work with them or not. The representative asked me to give it a month before declare it as lost. He said from experience that all missing packages will always show up within a month.
I would give it at least a month before declaring it as "lost". If its lost, then CSRA would reimburse you $500, BUT your wife would have to reapply for her passport then send it back to embassy(montreal) to have it restamp which could take up about 2-3 months. Remember, once you decide to report it as "lost" then the "lost" passport will be invalid even if they find it afterward. Really hope Canadapost would find your package, I know how frustrating this situation is and I wish you the best of luck.
Thanks for your help.
Yes we also currently have a CSRA agent helping us with the investigation and search. I wonder how long they search for before deeming lost? Its amazing they can lose such important documents in this day and age. Its been a nightmare for us the past few days. No one seems to help and only gives us vague answers. I called the embassy and visa centers and neither were able to tell me how long it would take to re-stamp her passport with landing papers. I can't imagine it taking 2-3 months.

I know this thread is old but would you mind telling how your situation resolved?
I'm currently in a similar position where my wife's package was supposed to be delivered yesterday but the tracking stops at Montreal. I've contacted canadapost to start the investigation and also emailed the embassy in Montreal to see if they can track. The package was shipped xpresspost on Thursday (3/22) so it should have arrived by now since its a 2 business day service. At the very least, the tracking should showed scanned in Richmond.

Have you received the bills / you can not do anything until each bill is received / paid online
https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/step_2_pay_fees.html
walks you thru the steps for paying the AOS and DS 261(?)
what is your visa type as it is DS 260 for a spouuse
Thank you adil-rafa. I was able to talk to a representative and they clarified I don't need to fill out a DS-261 for electronic processing.

So i'm not sure what i'm missing here but when I log into CEAC, I can seem to find the DS-261. From what it looks like on people's screenshots, it should be in the summary page above the AOS but i'm not seeing it on mine.
I'm able to pay for the AOS and IVA fee but unable to choose or click a DS-261? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes it sounds like it should be fine. I was just surprised at how much the forms changed.

So I just mailed my I-130 form and saw on USCIS that the forms have been updated as of 2/27/17. The sites does say they will only accept the new versions after 4/28/17.
Just for clarification, I should still be fine with the previous version? I noticed they got rid of the G-325A forms and have it combined now into the I-130. Also a separate form just for the beneficiary (spouse). Also it looks like 2 passport photos each of the beneficiary and petitioner?

Thank you all for the quick and informative responses. Awesome community. Would anyone recommend using service such as rapid visa or even a lawyer? I ask because I would not like to have any delays or mistakes along he way. Thank you again for the help! Much appreciated

Thank you for your quick response.
By coming to the US to visit and then get married, wouldn't that be fraud? Or is only fraud if she continued to stay in the states? I've also heard just getting legally married and having marriage certificate is not enough. You need proof of a bona fide wedding?

So after talking with an immigration lawyer and the slew of information online, I'm afraid i'm still confused on which way to proceed.
I recently got engaged. My fiance is a canadian citizen and i'm a us citizen. We both want to get married in the states. She currently lives in Canada and me in the States. One of our biggest concerns is she wants to continue working in Canada up until the wedding. With the K-1, it sounds like she won't be able to go back and forth when the visa is issued. We understand there's probably going to be at least 3 months where she won't be able to work. My question is, if we were to get legally married in canada and then start the green card process (CR-1) while she's still living in canada, would she be able to still go back and forth to the states? We don't mind having getting legally married and then having the ceremony later. Is there a certain visa that would be more beneficial in our situation?
Any help would be appreciated!
Re-stamping CR-1 Visa
in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
Posted
I'm hoping someone will be able to guide me in the right direction or has experienced something similar and knows the process.
Long story short, Canada Post lost my wife's passport with visa stamp and landing papers. She's in the process of getting a new passport but does anyone know how to get it re-stamped? We've contacted the consulate in Montreal (you can only email them apparently), national visa center and USCIS. All of them keep referring us to another place. I assumed the process would be to send her new passport to the consulate and they would re-stamp and re-issue landing papers but not entirely sure. Anyone know how long this process takes?
Any help is appreciated.
