Can you tell us a little more about yourself? Are you both living overseas and doing direct consular filing? If not and you have to go through the NVC too... I would say you've got several months ahead of you.
Yes! So sorry I left this out...both my husband and I are living in Argentina and consular processing is completely different from consular filing because here in argentina we cannot file our case directly with the consulate instead we mail to Chicago and we are given an appointment at the embassy here in Argentina.

Nebraska Service Center's current processing time is anywhere from 5-7 months. It's always possible that your application may be approved much sooner, but it's highly unlikely. I would recommend that you have someone check your mail on a regular basis and if there's a letter from USCIS (either acceptance or an RFE) they can contact you at that point. There is a high probability you have nothing to fear, but I would recommend having someone check your mail on a semi-regular basis (the USCIS website has been known to sometimes not update).
Yes we sent it to Chicago lockbox because in argentina we cannot file our case directly with the embassy we are given an appointment with our interview Thank you so much for this information

Advice as in when they give you your consulate appointment how can you tell them "oh i'm in Croatia" to change the appointment? Hope this makes sense

Hello everyone
My husband and I have filed our I-130 about a month ago and we have already received our NOA1 stating our case will be transferred to Nebraska. We are already consular processing our case but was wondering if anyone has ever backpacked for a longer time than 3 months while waiting for their NOA2? Any advice?
Thank you!

If you downloaded the form from the USCIS website, it's likely the most updated version of the form despite likely having an expiration date that's passed.
Really the only time the expiration date on that form is important to pay attention to, is when they've drastically changed it. Once they change it, you'll only be able to download the newest form on their website but they often accept old versions for a few months.
The expiration date on the form isn't for us, but for internal government workings.
Oh yes I kind of got that in previous posts about ignoring the expiration date They updated the form on 12/23 which we sent it on 1/2 and luckily I think they are accepting the form I sent before 2/21 but it's unclear it that means by the time they received it or by the time they accept/reject our petition.

Is that the fee that was 420 $ that has gone up to 535 $?

Hello all!
Just recently I've had my petition sent to Chicago and just realized I put my Married name as my legal last name but have never changed it officially with social security or passport...do you think this is going to create issues?
Ps Still put my maiden name as "all other names used"

What's funny is that I totally did submit the right fee! Now I'm just confused by the date 2/21/2017 does this mean the form has to be in their hands for review by that date or just received in the mail by that date?

Hello! So slightly freaking out here and tried to find some information on this wonderful forum but I'm coming up empty-handed all help is welcomed
As of today my husband and I's I-130 petition has been received at the Chicago Lockbox! Even after quadruple checking everything before we sent it from Argentina on January 2nd of course I wasn't paying attention to the expiration date of the form (12/31/2016) So seeing that I instantly panicked realizing we had sent the old version of the form I-130 and on the USCIS website it clearly states that no previous forms will be accepted. So I'm wondering whether to completely cancel my case to resend it and stop payment on my check or wait for the dreaded notification that our case has been rejected and that's a wrap. Please and thank you
Update: New edition dated 12/23/16. Starting 02/21/17,USCIS will only accept the 12/23/16 edition. Until then, you can use previous editions. However, all filings postmarked 12/23/16 or later must include the new fees or we will reject them. You can find the edition date at the bottom of the page on the Form and Instructions.

Hello fellow VJers
This wednesday, my husband and I are going to the states to visit my family for the holidays (3 weeks). The last time the both of us have been back was July of 2016, so it's been a while. We recieved our NOA2 a few months ago, but we are still nervous about Matias crossing through immigration. Below we have the following paperwork but we were wondering if they might hassle us even though I'm coming back to Argentina to live until our Green card is approved.
Paperwork: Property deed of business, NOA1, NOA2, Flight itinerary, Car rental, travel insurance showing dates of travel, Argentine tax reciept for this month.
We are living with our in-laws so we don't have a lease or deed and we are staying with a friend while in Wisconsin.
Thank you so much!
