I think you may be confused.. Your social security card has nothing to do with working. Your green card (Or Individual EAD without green card) gives you access to work.

Long story short my husbands case may of been unique. He didn't have an issue with his social security card until he went for a job that required a background check at that point they were unable to E/Verify him. I said we should go to social security. We presented our documentation and the Rep at Social security said yes it was good that we took it upon ourselves to come in because the system only showed him being allowed to work until certain date. ( we had to do a name change/correction) well their system didn't update with his still being allowed to work and we presented the documents that we received at our info pass session and the stamp in his Mexican passport with those documents they updated his information so it can be verified with E/Verification. Yes sounds like there was a glitch in the system but that was our experience.

  2. Hi everyone, sent off my husbands I751 and received a letter stating that they are granting an 18 month extension.

Anyone else receive this? My concern is that its only a document not a new GC with an extension date. This is going to be tricky with work since he went to an interview yesterday and they looked his information and showed not active in E/FILE verification. Im thinking we will once again have to get a info pass session and try and get a new stamp in his passport and documentation and then go to Social Security to update the information since we have experienced in the past that Social Security is not directly connected with USCIS when information is updated. Anyone else????

We had out interview on Friday for adjustment of status. The officer was very friendly and he said we provided all the documents he needs. However he gave us a paper saying the case is pending review. The case has not been updated on the website yet.

Anyone who has done the interview got this paper? How long after that the case status changes on the website?

We got the same thing. We ended up getting the card in the mail within three weeks and notice in the mail within two.

We got our interview notification and mail yesterday!  Scheduled for the 27th of February in Orange County, CA.  Does anyone know if that's the last piece of mail that comes in?  We asked for a change of address which was approved, but they still sent the interview letter to the old address (we moved last weekend).

It is the last one before the interview. After that you’ll receive the approved letter then the two year visa in the mail. It was about 3 weeks from our interview that we received the card at home.

Congrats.  What kind of questions were you asked?

It was a little weird but he didnt review any of the information in the 485 application. He did ask me what my spouses parents names were. He asked how we met? where our first date was. when did the relationship become exclusive? when did we get engaged? asked for any documentation we had together. We gave him our joint checking account and the information from my employer showing he was a dependent and that hes on my health insurance. We got our notice of card being mailed 6 days after our interview.

Ours went well. Took about an hour since we asked for more information on certain things. The officer was great. Very kind and funny. He said he can’t approve on the spot but he says our case looks good and shouldn’t have a problem. He said we should get the green card within 30 days.

Good morning, we received notice yesterday that card is being issued. We both have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Congrats! Have you gotten an update that your case was approved yet? Our officer said I would have the card as soon as in 7-10 days and my status changed an hour later to new card being produced.

My interview is finally over and done with!!!

Our interview was at 11.45 and we got there for around 11.30. We signed in and waited around 20 minutes for our number to be called. A nice lady greeted us and walks us around to the interview room asked us how we were etc. In the office we were sworn in. She confirmed the information on our forms such as my name my husbands name, DOB, address etc. Then she went through the generic questions like have you committed murder etc. Then she asked how did we get to this point (relationship, marriage, moving) so we told her our story and she laughed and smiled as we told her and she thought it was funny that we met whilst playing GTA on the Xbox 😂. Then she asked my husband where he works if he still works there, she asked who attended our wedding and how my parents felt about the marriage. That was it! After that she just asked for anything we wanted to add to our file so I handed over a bunch of documents and then she asked if we had any questions to which my husband asked about what i need to bring with me to travel (I already knew the answer to this but he didn't) she said just your passport and greencard. At that point she stood up and smiled and said okay that's every thing and my husband laughed and jokingly said wait aren't we going to be separated and questioned and she laughed and said no that takes to damn long 😂

So from that I'm assuming I've been approved but just waiting for my case to update. All in all it was a really nice experience and felt just like a conversation 😁

Ours were almost the exact same experience. He also asked me the petitioner for the names of my spouses parents. The officer said that everything looks good but he will pass it on for review and we should expect the card within 30 days.

Filing from San Antonio. I got my interview scheduled notice a month ago and the letter came a week later in the mail. Our interview is scheduled for Nov. 14th. You will get your letter soon! It seems as though the San Antonio office is both fast and easy going. Good luck!

We have the same interview date. Mines in Newark NJ. Wish you guys and us luck!!!

Well my husband and I are getting ready to check out of our hotel and head over to the immigration office for our interview in 2 hours. My poor husband was so nervous he got sick. I have him fixed up now. I told him we have what we have and wont offer up extra unless they ask. He is worried because he no longer makes enough to support me but I filled out the supporting household form thing as I make more than enough so we will see. We have a sponsor lined up if we need one.

I wish you luck!!! You guys got this!

    Passed interview today.

We arrived 30 minutes early then waited about 15 minutes.  We hired an interpreter.  My wife, interpreter and i went to the IO office.  The interpreter  was asked about his credentials and relationship to us.   Glad that we hired a legal interpreter and not just bring a family member or friend to offer unbiased interpretation.    We were asked to raise our right hand and swore in  I notice he looked at our wedding rings when we raised our hands.

IO asked if i wanted to add supporting documents  to application.  I submitted photo book and other documents to prove our relationship.

Then he asked me to leave since 129f was already approved.

I waited outside in waiting room while my wife and interpreter was being interviewed.

    IO asked about :

    How did you meet

    Birth date of spouse

    How many rooms

    Do you rent or own

    Spouse job

    About wedding

    Spouse family

What do you do during free time together

If you don't work what do you do

The  questions were very basic and easy.   Then IO asked about 20 or more questions from the application form.

IO said it will take 2 to 3 weeks for greencard to arrive.  Informed my wife to apply for Removal of Condition before 90 days the 2 year conditional greencard expires.   My wife and interpreter came out first then He came out to the waiting room to say congratulations.  He look very scary at first but nice man.

Good luck to you all.  It isn't too bad.  Just be prepared and you will do fine.

    That's great news.

How long did the whole interview process take? from the time you arrived to walking out the door?

Im wondering since we are flying back to the interview and flying back out very soon.

I received the “interview has been scheduled” notice via email on September 11, 2018. We received the interview date via snail mail on September 16 and the interview is scheduled for October 18th.....

That’s great. We called and spoke with a tier two officer and he said our interview is November 14th. We will have to fly back to Nj for it but we’ll worth it.

It is usually about a month out.  You should get the paper with the details in about a week or so.

That's good news. We're a little anxious about the interview date.

We're moving to California towards to the end of the month in October. Even if the interview is after we leave we will just fly back for it.

Instead of a request to switch the interview date and location considering the current climate and how long we have waited already.

    Hi everyone!

I have a question. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.  Has anyone used their advance parole recently?

    1. Did you have any issues?

    2. What documents did you bring? Passport and Advance Parole or did you bring more evidence?

I need to go back home and I am getting a little nervous about leaving. Thanks in advance!

I had the same question a while back as well.

  15. Have a question for people that have traveled on their AP/Work Permit card. My husband is from mexico and traditionally they use two last names.

When we applied for the Green card, Marriage certificate and Social security he only included the one which here in the us would be his fathers last name.

His Mexican passport shows both. Do you see any trouble for him when entering the country? Hes planning on traveling to mexico for a short trip.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi everyone,

I am very new to this site and I hope everybody is doing good with their paperwork.I have a few concerns about my case but i dont know who to call or what to do so i thought maybe you guys can give me some ideas about what i can do with my situation.I got married to my husband in Sept 2017 and we sent out papers on Feb 16th, 2018.They received our case on feb 20th and I had my fingerprint appointment on March 28th.However, it has been 148 days and I havent got any updates about my case on USCIS website. It still says that my ``fingerprint fee was received`` but I dont think this is normal.I mean why am i not getting any updates? They rejected my i-765 form and i had to re-send it and they received it on March 14th.I had another fingerprint appointment on April 11th for my EAD. It has been almost 5 months now since they received my i-765 and there is no EAD card either. It still says that `` case was received `` :(  I am a little freaked out as to why I am not getting any updates or mails.I am from Detroit, MI. I wanted to get an infopass appointment here in the field office but they are all booked right now and cannot give me any dates yet.If there is any other February 2018 filers that are in the same situation, please share your experience with me.It really sucks to not be able to work or drive as I dont have a work permit yet :(  2 of my friends who are also from detroit are getting their interviews next month and there are only 2 months  between them and me.I mean they sent their papers in december and i sent mine in february. We are all from detroit but I have no clue whats going on with my case. :|  please share your experiences or ideas with me...Thank you very much

Ours took a 160 days to receive in hand the EAD/AP card. Only a week before did we get notice that I was approved. Only thing we may have done different is about two months ago we went to ourcongressman's office and requested to have file inquiry on our case. Nothing came of it so not sure if it helped.

    Good luck
