Are you able to travel to and from the U.S. legally with no problems at all??

YEs i can.. I have my spanish citizenship

I am just trying to figure out your situation before i can offer any advice, it sounds like you are waiting for your k-1 in spain but you need to travel to the U.S. to visit your other half, sorry to hear he is in the hospital. I dont see how this would difficult your application process if you are able to travel freely from one country to the other

  3. If you can find a POE that gives the stamp on entry, your fiance will be work authorized until her I-94 expires (90 days). After that time, she will require the EAD card in order to keep working.

If you apply for AOS/EAD right after your marriage, the EAD card could possibly be in your hands before the temporary work authorization expires.

Any idea where i might find the POE's that issue the stamp???

  4. Anyone have any information on the authorization to work for new fiancee arrivals to the U.S. I have heard that by flying into JFK New York, a person arriving on a k-1 visa can obtain an authorization to work permit rather than waiting until after marriage and several months later to obtain this authorization to work. Can this be obtained at any immigration office in the country or is JFK the only place that grants this authorization. I am trying to reach someone in immigration to answer this but it has been difficult.

  5. Anyone know about what to do when it comes to sending the I-134. They ask for information from your bank with date of account opened and how much has been deposited, and what the current balance is..... Is it necessary to provide your account # as well. It seems like personal information that my co-sponsor does not want to provide. I have not had a definite answer, and would happen if the letter from the bank does not have your personal account # on it????

  6. I asked this question once before a while ago, but i dont quite remember what i should put down. I am using my mother( i know...) to be my co-sponsor. On item 10, it asks the relationship of my fiancee to my mother. Is the correct repsonse to put down? Mother of Petitioner... since I am the original petitioner???

Second question. When it comes to having the paperwork notorized there is a space on the I-134 itself. This is self explanatory. For the additional information i submit, such as proof of employment, and authorization from a bank, and tax forms, should all of these forms be notorized as well. Is it required, or is it just the smart and safe thing to do??

I am sure some of you have dealt with this in the past or are now dealing with this. Any help would be greatly appreciated and i apologize if the asnwers to these questions are located in previous posts. I am a novice when it comes to using this site and like everyone else i am on pins and needles when it comes to making sure these forms are filled out correctly. The instructions on the I-134 are very brief, so there is plenty of room for error. I wish they went into more detail on the additional information that is needed along with the I-134.

  7. I am curious to anyone who has reached this point of the process. At this time my fiance is about two weeks away from receiving her interview date sometime in January. I was living with my fiance in Brasil for several months but i have returned to the U.S. in order to look for jobs prior to her arrival here in late january. However, if i am not able to secure a good job by the time of her interview is it possible to use my parents as the sponsors on the I-134 form. I noticed there is a section on the form that states who the sponsor is and the relation to the fiance. However, my name is on all the previous forms and paperwork not my parents. I guess what i am asking is to see if its is okay to use someone else as a sponsor if they are not attached to any of the previous forms and paperwork such as the I-129 for example. I am sure this has happened to someone else, because i am sure a job making 20,000 a year is considered at the poverty level so i am waiting for a good job to come around. what should i do?? any suggestions.

  8. I hope this might help you just a little bit. Although my situation is different it always helps to hear others stories. My story began over a year ago when i fell in love with my fiance in the United States. We dated for six months before she left to return to Brasil. We wanted to be with each other but we knew the right thing was for her to return to her home country. She needed to be with her family and to discover if she was willing to give up her country of Brasil to live with me in the U.S.

Things were extremely difficult at first. I was in a police academy in Maryland and was forced to deal with Drill instructors, tests, constant pressure to perform both physically and mentally, and always worrying about my girlfriend in Brasil. I was consumed by the idea of quitting my crappy police academy experience and move to Brasil. I was advised by everyone not to do this, and that i would regret this for the rest of my life. It was a difficult job to obtain, and i had arleady spent five months training in the academy. I was due to graduate in a few months.

The seperation was so hard on me that I lost sleep and my apeitite. I lasted for a month and a half until i decided to resign and move to Brasil. I have been living in Brasil for five months now. My tourist visa expires next month. We have finally made important decisions and are going to get married hopefully as soon as the visa is accepted.

I am broke, have very little money left in my checking account, and now i am forced to return to the U.S. to wait out her visa approval. I must prepare again to leave her for at least another six months. I know it will not be any easier than when she left the first time, but i know i have no other option. I need to return to the states to start my life again so that i can be ready to support her when she returns to the U.S.

In your situation, the most important thing to realize is that you are moving to another country. Althoug it is difficult to do this, Canada will be a little easier because of the language and economic similairites to the U.S. You will find a job when it counts, and you will be with your fiance. Money will be tight. I am always on a constant budget down here. We find ways to spend money and have fun without major debts. I dug myself financially in a hole but i know this is only temporary.

I found the answers i needed, and this was only possible by me leaving my job, my life, my friends, my family. I never regret leaving, and realize how important my decision to leave has become. When the time is right you will leave to Canada and be with your fiance. You are right, people with there tiny relationship problems can become annoying, but you should be happy that you found someone to spend the rest of your life with. The most imporant piece of advice i can give you is that time goes faster than you really tend to think it does. It seems like just yesterday i arrived in Brasil and now i must leave once again for another seperation period. I dont think i am any more prepared this time around, but i need to what i have to do. Time is slow when you are waiting for something. Try to enjoy your time left in U.S. and realize that you are going to miss some of these things once you leave. Use this time to metally prepare for the cultural change you are going to experience. I think you will keep yourself saine if you realize there is nothing you can do but wait, and that constantly checking your account on the immigration website is going to eat you alive. Take a few days away from the application. Check every few days or so. this might help you. It helps me. I know things move slow, but if you are not religious, now is the time to accept the fact that there are factors out of our control. We are all here to help, and i wish success and happiness in the future.

  9. Just a general question about RFE's. I know there are many reasons people can recieve an RFE. I do notice that on many people's timelines there is an RFE on the list. I was just curious what the main reasons for these RFE's are, and why it seems like every person has one at some point in the I-129 F process.

sorry guys i just notices someone has written a post about this already. I will check that site out. Sorry for the mess up

  10. Best of luck on your journey!

Did you list your current address in Brazil as to where the NOA1 will be mailed once it is received? If so it will be a while before you get your case number. Since you are going through Vermont, who knows? You could get your approval before you even get your NOA1 in the mail!

To make it easier I used my mailing address as a current address i hold in the U.S. I am going back in Ocotber so i used this address for all information and notifications. I heard Vermont moves fast but i also heard that cases are transfered to the CSC which will take more time

  11. sent the I-129F on August 21st to the vermont service center. Just to let those of you know i had to assemble all of the paperwork and mail the paperwork from Brasil. I am an american but i am currently living in Brasil. It went smoothly so far but it was difficult because i had to have iniformation sent to me from the states which slowed the process. Anyone who has applied or is applying from Brasil, and has some useful experiences or information to offer feel free. I am a little concerned because i was not able to use an american service provider such as UPS or FEDEX. But i had no choice but to use the local mailing system down here. Say a prayer that our information goes where it needs to be. Boa sorte to those who are in the process of the K-1 and i wish everyone health and happiness.

  12. To put this discussion to an end I appreciate all the responses. I should have made it more clear when i asked the question. The reason i raised the question was beacause a friend of mine recenlty had to send her birthcertificate/translated from portuguese to english, to her attorney she is using right now. This was for the I-129F. The only reason I can account for this is because the attorney may want it because like mentioned it can be a good cause for an RFE. Whatever teh case, i agree with everyone's statements that it is needed later in the process but not for the I-129F. Thanks very much. Also, i mentioned that my fiancee needed to go to the courthouse in Brasil. What i mean by this is as follows to clear any confusion.

When you do your own translation and fill out your affidavit that everythnig is true to the best of your knowledge and ability..... you need to go the courthouse to have someone stamp your signature to prove you are who you said you were on..... It's just like a notary in the U.S., the same thing. Thanks guys. Hope this clears any confusion.

    Muito Obrigado

  13. Another quick question, my fiancee has her degree here in brasil in eglish etc... she is going to translate her own birth certificate go to the courthouse here in Brasil and have her signature approved etc... She is not an official translator recognized by the country nor does she have her certification. The fiancee who is using the lawyer, however, translater her own and sent it to the laywer no questions asked. What's the deal with this, anyone can act as thier own translator if they feel they are qualified enough

  15. Yes I have just started the process. I am only just beginning to gather the information to send to the service center for my I-129 F. I am using the K-1 checklist to submit mypaperwork. If i follow this checklist will I be o.k. The reason I ask is because I have freinds who paid a lawyer 1,000.00 U.S. to do all of this for them. The Brazilian fiance had to send a copy of her translated birth certificate as well as a photocopy of her passport when applying for the I-129F. The k-1 checklist sais nothing about these two items needed when applying. Does anyone have an answer for this.
