  1. Hi

    We are removing conditions (CSC).

I rec'd my Biometrics appt last month - but NO Receipt number (which i beleive i need to to travel?).

I called the Info Line today - and was told my case had been approved yesterday !!!!!! And to wait 4-8 weeks for my permanent card!

I thought this was meant to take a year?? Its only been a couple of months.

Also, The USCIS guy gave me my Receipt number for the approval - but that number is not showing-up on the 'Online Case Status' website? Could this be because it was only approved yesterday?

I think i'm very Happy! - I just want to see it in B&W before i start partying!

    Thanks Guys.

  2. I called USCIS today.

A very pleasant woman told me they had recieved all my papers OK.

She was able to give me my Application Number over the phone - and told me that i was in a long a queue - but should hear something in the next 3 weeks or so.

So i will just chill - and wait for them to do their thing.

    Thanks!

    Hi

I filed (CSC) April 4th - The Check was cashed April 9th - and i still havent heard anything either - no application number - no biometrics - nothing :-(

laptop - I'd probably contact them and put in a Service Request just to get things moving... it has been over a month...

    Good luck to You, too!

  3. Hi -

I did mine all by phone / mail - I didnt see the Doctor in person.

    It was only $10 i think !!

    I used:

    Dr. L.E. Arnold

    4534 Westgate Boulevard, Suite 106

    Austin, TX 78745

    Tel: (512)444-3131

    Fax: (512)447-4699

I receive the I-639A filled out and signed in a sealed envelope, they also made a copy of it for my records, and mailed everything back to me directly within a week.

  4. Hi There

Not having work authorisation should not affect you with regard to getting a driving licence.

I have been here now for 6 months on my K1 Visa - and am still waiting for AOS - I did, however receive my work authorisation 3 weeks ago.

You can take up any voluntary work you want - I have been volunteering at the Sheriffs Department in the Dog Pound - walking and feeding the dogs and doing the paperwork on adoptions. I have also been on their local TV station showing the dogs in their weekly program as they like my accent! lol.

I got my driving licence 3 weeks after i arrived here - as soon as i had my SS Number.

Best of luck with whatever you do.

  5. Hi All.

So, we had our AOS interview in LA yesterday - all very easy - and not worth the 2 weeks of sleepless nights we've had!

The interview waiting room is on the 8th floor - there were about 80 others waiting in there - we were called in about 40 mins past our appointed time.

We both swore to tell the truth - then the officer opened our AOS file and started to go through some papers.

He asked how we met, checked our address and phone number and date of birth - he checked we had married within the 90 days allowed for K1.

The original papers he wanted from us were our birth certificates, passports, joint phone bills. We had used a co-sponsor (Mum!) and he wanted copies of her passport and birth certificate (which we had).

The 1 thing he pulled us up on was my Vaccination certificate - I had tried to get away with using the original certificate from the London K1 doctor - but he insisted we must get a Civil Surgeon to transfer that info to the I693a - so i will set about doing that this week. We just have to mail that back to him.

He told us that the FBI namecheck wasnt done (surprise, surprise!) - but we are approved pending that.

It was all real easy - and we had a bit of a laugh and a joke with the officer - so now we just wait for the name-check to come back...............:thumbs:

  6. I am in the middle of compiling all my paperwork for our AOS Interview next week.

On the check-list it says to bring "All documentation establishing your eligibility for Lawful Permanent Resident Status"

As they have already asked for my marriage certificate, passport, I.D and all copies of any immigration documnets - does anyone know what documents they are needing here??????? Thanks!!

  7. Hi Maria

I am in the situation as you - i sent in a copy of my Vaccination sheet from the London Embassy Doctor (from my K1) - i also have my AOS interview in LA the week after you.

As i understand it - you are *meant* to get a Civil Surgeon to transfer your vaccination info onto another sheet of paper (which you have to pay for). However, i have read many threads where people have just sent in the Vaccination sheet from London - and have been approved with no problems.

Personally - i am planning to just risk it - to take all my papers from London - and see what happens. I am guessing that if they had a problem with my AOS application they would have sent me a RFE by now.

    Good Luck!

Let me know what happens.

  8. Hi -

I agree with the other postings - its a big pain in the ### - but its the American way - and you just have to play the game! :help:

I got myself a secured Visa card from the bank (I have to leave $1000 security on the account) - and i use that card all the time to build credit.

I was then able to use my SS number to get a Phone line (utility bill) in my name.

I didnt want or need either of these things - its just what you have to do

Best of luck with the house :D

  9. Hey - I wonder if anyone could help me? - Its a trivial question - but its annoying me!!

I signed up for the on-line 'case watching' with USCIS - and got notified of my NOA1's for AOS and EAD.

Since then, there have been no 'Touches' on these cases - although i received my Biometrics appt letter in the post.

I attended my biometrics in December - and last week received another letter giving me my AOS interview date (March).

My question is - shouldnt my on-line USCIS files have showed some 'touches' by now? - or been updated to show my interview date??

Also, will they deal with the EAD application at that interview also - or are they treated as 2 seperate things??

    Thanks!!

  10. I used to hold an International licence - never did me any good - in any any country - ever!!

Generally, you can drive in the USA on your UK licence for 90 Days. You may find it a bit of a hassle to get insurance on a UK licence - but call around and you will get it sorted.

I went to the DMV as soon as i got here to get the forms and the Highway Code (which is free).

You need to have your Social Security No in order to take the test - as well as your passport and birth certificate.

You take a written (multiple choice) test first, then a few days later you do the driving test.

I did mine a few weeks ago - all very easy - your licence comes in the mail 2 weeks later.

    Good Luck!! :D

  11. Hi There

I also failed my Medical (In London) for having high blood pressure.

I was told by the embassy Doctor that she would 'hold back' my medical report until my blood pressure was under control.

I then had to go to my own Doctor and start treatment - and my Doctor then Faxed the embassy stating that i was OK. It only delayed me about 3 weeks - although it was very frustrating at the time!

Your fiance should be able to ask the Doctor directly if he was approved or not.

    Best Wishes.

  12. Hi Everyone.

I am flying out to San Francisco on Friday to start my new life in the USA.

I had a couple of things i was unsure about regarding the POE:

Do i have to hand-carry my XRay (as well as the sealed brown envelope) ?

Also, do i still fill-out one of those I-94 (Visa Waiver Program) forms on the plane??

    Thanks in advance!

Oh, and any other tips to prevent me from looking like fool would be welcome!

    :D:D
