  1. Hello I was wondering if anyone is willing to help me out with the I-864, and I-864a form. I'm currently filling it out and I've come across some information that the I-864 for should be filled by my husband even if hes unemployed, I previously written the sponsor as my mother in law. His parents are supporting me so I'm guessing I add them as joint sponsors? I'm just confused in accordance to the information asking for his tax information, he's listed as a dependent on his parents taxes. Would I need to fill out the information based on that info since he doesn't make the amount required to fill taxes?

  2. Mine looks exactly like that form, border, colour, and even the same seal. Top says "Certificate of Vital Record" It's just nothing stating anything about a "Registrar." All it states is "Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder." It even states on the form that it comes from the office of Vital Records. Not sure if the Ontario name change system is extremely strict, or I do need to get a new different complete form.

  3. Hello, I’m not sure I’m which thread I should put this topic in but I’m currently doing my CR-1 visa and I’ve hit a roadblock. I’ve had some trouble trying to change my name in the Province of Ontario, Canada. They need something called a Registar General seal/signature on the marriage certificate, yet when I talk to my husband about it or try to look up anything about it, it seems like there’s is no information on what that means. Even the county where I got married at is at a loss and has no idea what I’m talking about. At this point I’m lost and I’m confused at what exactly I’m trying to look for. If you're Canadian and have gotten married overseas and are/were on the same boat I would be extremely grateful for your help!

  4. Hi I'm really lost right now, and I am looking for all the help I can get for this topic. I am a Canadian citizen and me and my husband got married in the U.S. on October of 2016, we filed the CR-1 visa around December, in the CR-1 we claimed that I would be receiving my visa in Canada. I came back to Canada in November, and without knowing there would be any problems I had planned to get a trip back to U.S early January. So It's January, and they stopped me in customs, declining my travel request. They told me I wasn't able to travel because I was married and I had to wait until I received my CR-1 visa. I had no idea this would be a problem, I'm not too sure what is the problem, if there is a law that I have failed to come across about being Canadian and being married to a U.S. citizen. They said that they didn't have any proof that would show I would be coming back to the U.S. but I don't understand that when my CR-1 visa application completely states that I need to go to a U.S. embassy in Canada to receive my visa. I am at a loss for words that I am unable to even see my husband. Am I able to apply for a temporary visa to be able to see him? Are there any other solutions to this, or do I indefinitely need to wait for my application to be accepted?

  5. Seems I'm a little late in finding out that there's a fee for the i-864, but luckily the NVC invoices that fee. I set up and sent my package for the CR1 for the USCIS but I also included the i-864 in the package thinking it was necessary for evidence. Will it be a problem for the USCIS, or will I just have to resend the i-864 some other time after USCIS approve? If I do when do I send it and to who? I'm all new to this so I'm really hoping everything is ok.

    Thank you
