If you are sure that's what is stated on the website, do a screenshot (just in case) and keep calling until you get a supervisor. The best time to get one is between 7-8 am ET. When you get one, calmly state your case and hopefully you will get the checklist overturned. I was able to and i know another person who did too. Hers took a couple of days, and mine took 2 weeks. As long as you are sure it was an error on their [art, keep calling and speaking with a supervisor, until its resolved. All the best!

Thank you so much! Yes, I'm pretty sure it's not required. just in case I attached the screenshot.

We will call between 7-8am.  Did you just keep calling for 2 weeks til you get a supervisor? We can't have them call us back since my husband and I both live abroad and they can't make international phone calls.

So we need to just keep calling:(

That really sucks.  I noticed for my consulate (Sydney) their requirements for interviews had changed to 6 months so I have gotten one for Canada even though I lived there for 11 months. I plan on submitting it to the NVC just in case but it seems you have just affirmed that that's what they are now wanting.  I would definitely be trying to speak to a supervisor because it seems highly unfair they haven't updated the details of what they want, but yet are prepared to put you back to day 1 now because they want something extra from you.

Yes it really sucks. Such a nightmare... I will keep calling until I get a supervisor but my biggest fear is that if that supervisor says I need to I just need to follow it...

  3. Hello, I really need your help. I got a checklist of missing document for police certificate. I lived in taiwan for 9 months and they need a police certificate from there.

On NVC's website, it says you need to submit IF you live in a foreign country for more than 12 MONTHS so I told 2 different rep that my case doesn't match the requirement.  But they said even if it's 6 month or 9 months, automated system says you need it and to make it disappear you need to send a written statement to NVC. But I know if I send a document, I need to wait another 11 weeks.

Did anything similar happen to any of you? And how did you deal with it? I asked supervisor twice, but they are not available.

    Scan date : January 20th

    Checklist: April 10th

You'll be hear back from NVC when they receive your expedite request but they just send to the embassy for a response so it depends on the embassy. Ours took 6 days to give a decision.

Email address is below. Make sure to put our case number in the subject heading and explain your situation in the email as well as evidence of his medical condition.

If your case gets completed before you hear back I would call the embassy when that happens as NVC may not deal with your case after that.

    Email:  NVCExpedite@state.gov

    Thank you so much!

I will send an email then.

  5. Hello,

My scan date is January 20th and today is the end of 11 weeks but I haven't heard anything.

I called an hour ago and rep told me they still have a few hours to work on so I have to wait. Really sick of waiting:(

Here is my question. How long does it usually take to get my expedition approved at the embassy stage? Because of my husband's medical condition, I want the interview date asap. And do you send the request of expedition to nvc or embassy?

  6. Hello, I have a question about tax return transcript.

For NVC package, I know I need documents about tax return, but do I need to send a tax return transcript? or just a copy of form 1040 works?

I sent a fax form 4505-t to get a tax transcript to IRS about 2 weeks ago but nothing happened. So I called and asked if they got our request but they said nothing appears on the system. I asked the person over the phone to submit a request but he said my husband's work place name doesn't match so can't process it.

I'll mail a request this time but it might take up to 1 month to get because I live outside the states.

That's why I'm wondering if I can just send a copy of tax return.

    Thanks for your help!

  7. Hello,

I'm currently trying to file I-864 and I have a question.

My husband is the petitioner and he lives & works outside the states.

What should I put for the question 'Your current individual income'?

I've read on NVC wiki that you should put $0 if it's a foreign earned, but we put the name of employer so I though it might look weird if you have a job but $0 income.

If there is anyone in a similar situation, please help!

    Thank you.

  8. Hello,

My husband and I got married in March this year, and he filed his 2015 tax return as single (because he was single in 2015).

But I was reading this NVC wiki and it says you CANNOT file tax returns as single.

    http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

I don't see the point of filing his tax return as married when we weren't married that year. Does anyone know what to do?

    Thank you!
