  1. My husband is now a resident here in the US and we want to bring his 11 year old daughter from the doninican republic to the US, what is the process to start this and can i petition for her even though she is a stepdaughter? I am a US citizen so would it be faster for me to petiotion for her? We were also told that we have to have a custodial document from his daughter mom signing over custodial to her father to start the process is this true? If so, does anyone from the dominican know where we can have this done and about how much does it cost?

  2. My husband is here on a fiancé visa. We just got notice that we have an interview with immigration services for residency. In the letter it indicated that he needed a medical exam (form I-693) with vaccination records (if not submitted). My question is last year in January of 2017 he did a medical examination and received his required immunizations for him to come here to the United States. All those documents were turned over to immigration when he landed in Miami. My question is are we required to complete another medical examination again here in the United States? I just don’t want to pay all this extra money if it is not required again. I called USCIS but they don’t have an answer. They said we could go to our local immigration office and find out but you have to schedule an appt just to ask a simple question and they don’t have any appointments available for the next 2 weeks and she said if you do go there, they may not even be able to assist you if you don’t have an appt. Anyone have any input on this on what we should do?

  3. Hi,

when I received an email from the embassy that we can now start our k1 visa, this was the link that was provided to me and what documents are needed for the interview so I'm a bit confused....http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/iv-required_documents.html. It says I-834 which I thought should be the I-134. I completed both forms to stay on the safe side. Now in regards to my W2 for 2016, that will be important for me because with that W2 , it will prove that I exceed the poverty guidelines, so will they accept that even though I have not filed my returns yet for 2016? My 2015 and 2014 tax returns will not meet the poverty guidelines for k1 visa

  4. Quick question. We have our scheduled interview on 2/14/17 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I completed the I-864. I just received my W2 for 2016 but I will not be able to file my tax returns yet before I arrive on feb 11 as I still have other pending documents that I need to receive to file. I have my tax returns from the other 2 years prior but those won't prove my income to show that I make about the poverty guidelines but this W2 that I received for 2016 will show that I meet or exceed the poverty guidelines. Will just the W2 for 2016 that I bring be enough even though I have not filed my returns yet for 2016? Is there anything else I should bring to accompany the I-864? I have current check stubs and a printout from Human Resources showing my annual income from 2016 that I was able to print from my job portal. My other question is this....My fiancé payed the 265.00 at Banco Popular for the DS-160 so that we can schedule the interview but I see this and am not sure if we also need to pay 325.00 in addition to the 265.00 that he payed already?

    • PAYMENT:  Unless the fee has been paid for you in the United States, you must be prepared to pay the non-refundable immigrant visa application processing fee of US$325.00 or the equivalent in Dominican pesos per applicant at the Consular Section.  Payment must be made entirely in one currency. We accept cash and international credit cards. (Note: K “Fiancée” Visa applicants will need pay the visa fee at Banco Popular before making appointments at the VAC and U.S. Embassy.)
  5. I'm sorry I meant police certificate not medical certificate. Where do you go for that and is that something you get on the same day or does it take days to get that certificate? Also that link that was provided to me from the email from the embassy it states to bring the I-864 affidavit support but then I also have read something about I-134 which is also an affidavit support. Which one needs to be completed or are both needed?

  6. The medical, you don't need an appointment for in Santo Domingo. You just have to show up at the clinic when they open. We have the NVC appointment scheduled on January 19 so he will go do the medical that same day in the morning. Where does he go for a medical certificate in the Dominican? Is that something you attain the same day or do you have to wait? Just trying to get all this together in time for the interview. So I'm guessing there is no packet 3 or a 4?

  7. We scheduled our interview and the appointment for the NVC but I was not sure if I was suppose to get a hard copy letter in the mail or not. All I receieved was an email from the embassy stating the following:This office is pleased to inform you that you can start the process of your fiancé/fiancée, K visa, application.  Starting in January 1st, 2015, most of the K visas (fiancé/fiancée) will need to make two appointments, to visit the Visa Application Center (VAC) and the Consular Section. Please visit the following links to get more information about the process. Another words is that all I'm suppose to get? based off this email, we just scheduled our interview.

  8. I called the NVC and was told that our case was mailed out to the embassy (Santo Domingo) I was given an NVC# and an invoice #. I received a hard copy in the mail from NVC that our file has been sent to the embassy and this morning I the petitioner received an email from the embassy stating the following: This office is pleased to inform you that you can start the process of your fiancé/fiancée, K visa, application. Starting in January 1st, 2015, most of the K visas (fiancé/fiancée) will need to make two appointments, to visit the Visa Application Center (VAC) and the Consular Section. Please visit the following links to get more information about the process: So does this mean that we can start the ds-160 form and schedule interview and do the medical and fingerprints? I don't know what you guys mean by packet#3 received and sent and packet #4 sent? What does packet #3 consist of and what needs to be sent and also packet#4? My other question is when medical is done can we do the fingerprints the same day as the medical since this has to be all completed in Santo Domingo? I'm assuming the appointment for the NVC is to get the fingerprints done, do they also take your picture there. This can be a bit confusing because the email that we received from the embassy has you go to this link: http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/iv-required_documents.html and this is just telling us what to do and what documents to bring. Is this all the information that we are suppose to receive until our interview? Thanks again

  9. I the petitioner received an email from the embassy in Santo Domingo Dominican Republic that they received our case and that we can now start to schedule our interview. As I was looking through the email, they have his daughter birthday incorrect. What should we do about that? We completed the ds-160 yesterday and submitted the form with her correct date of birth but are worried about the embassy having it incorrect on there end.

  10. My question is in regards to the I-134 form. I am well aware that I as the petitioner need to complete this form but my question is that my last 3 year tax returns 2015, 2014, and 2013 reflect that I meet the 100% of poverty income guidelines for the k1 visa which I did meet but barely by maybe 900.00 over the income guidelines. However, I also see that in some embassy's they want you to at least make the 125% because in the next few months when we apply for the green card, we have to meet the 125% income guidelines. I received a pay increase in February of 2015 but that won't reflect until I file my taxes in 2017 for the 2016 year. I was wondering if I just bring my W2's and make copies of my check stubs from February of this year until current that show my pay increase would be sufficient or would they need the actual tax returns? Right now we don't know when the interview is and so I don't know when I can file my tax returns for 2016 because it's a matter of when I receive all my documents until I can file. I want to make sure I do this right and have all the necessary documents.

  11. My petition was approved yesterday 12/06/2016. Can anyone share with me what the next steps are? Is there anything that we need to start working on or at least get a head start on before the interview? Are there any forms that still need to be complete online for the next step? Documents that I need or can at least start to gather? Any information would be greatly appreciated. My fiancé is in the Dominican. For the interview, would I the petitioner need to be present at the interview, any thoughts on this?
