My husband(american citizen) and I are trying to bring my 12 yr.old son who lives in Brazil. All the processes have been completed and now they sent packet 4 to his address, and in the instructions it says that we have to pay U$ 380.00 on the interview date. We already payed to NVC the same ammount. Do we have to pay it again?
Has anybody faced the same situation? Please help!

Gente, queria tirar uma duvida com voces!
Eu ja sou casada com um americano e moro aqui ha 3 anos, estou com o processo de imigracao pro meu filho de 12 anos. Hoje ele recebeu a carta do consulado informando o dia da entrevista e os papeis que tem que levar.
Ele escaneou pra mim e fala que tem que pagar uma taxa de $ 380.00. Já pagamos aqui pro NVC esse mesmo valor, será que tem que pagar isso de novo? Alguem sabe sobre isso?

Esse hotel que você´postou deu 160.00 reais por noite (para casal) bleh ainda muito caro.
Dá 160 pra opçao de Luxo, mas se vc não se importar de pegar um standard fica R$ 100.00, até agora um dos mais em contas, achei tambem esse aqui: http://www.hotelingles.com.br/ fica bem pertinho do consulado a R$ 116,00 a diaria pra casal.

Muito obrigada pelo telefone, vou ligar nesse horario, apesar que não pago pra ligar pro Brasil, então eles podem deixar na espera à vontade. Estou vendo tambem os hoteis que voces informaram. Quando fiz minha entrevista fiquei num tal de Hotel Aeroporto Othon, mas olhando lá agora está com preço maior do que estes que voces passaram. A unica vantagem é que ficava bem pertinho do consulado.

Onde que voces conseguiram a 250 por 6 diarias? Achei um na internet (Astoria Hotel) em Copacabana por 100 reais a diaria . Alguem conhece?
oh no no I wish, aquele hotel Othon é 250 a diária, eu só comentei que ficaremos 6 noites no Rio, então sairia muito caro 6 x 250.

Que numero voces usam pra chamar o consulado do RJ pra saber da entrevista, estou aguardando tambem ansiosa que marquem a do meu filho, espero que seja pra outubro, e queria saber com antecedencia pra viajar pra lá. Moro aqui nos EUA há 3 anos, desde que me casei e saiu meu visto, e agora estou esperando pra trazer meu filho de 12 anos. O processo dele foi pro RJ na semana passada. Quanto tempo leva pra marcarem a data? Já olhei a lista de setembro e não está lá.

Your son in immigrating! You will need to find a way to get the income up, perhaps your husband's parents can be co-sponsors.
Unfortunately my husband's parents live in Brazil, and we have no relatives here. What I'm thinking about is try to prove a self-employment income. We just opened a business, and we still have no income, but could be an estimate projection from an accountant?

What years of income returns were submitted to NVC? If the most current year wasnt submitted you will need to supply this by the looks of things. If your husband (the sponsor) does not meet the poverty guidelines for household size then you will need a joint sponsor. How many are in the household? Has he filed an I-864 for anyone else?
We submitted 2003, 2004 and 2005 income tax. He filled the I-864 for me 3 years ago, and now for my son. We will be 3 in the household. Can we take a CPA estimate projection for our new business from our accountant? We used that for our new rental.
Also did you say Son is 12? I am not sure but I think USCIS takes into consideration the legal marriage age of the state you live in.I didn't understant what you mean... The USCIS takes into consideration the legal marriage age of the state you live in... could you explain please?

My husband (USC) filled for my son, and finally the process is completed and sent to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
I just received a letter from NVC informing that, and the following warning:
"All beneficiaries that have a sponsor filing the form I-864 Affidavit of Support on their behalf, are advised to bring the most current three years of tax documents and supporting financial proof that is current at the date of the visa interview. "
Our concern is: my husband was laid off 2 months ago, and he is under unemployment compensation, which is not the same money as he used to make. We've just opened a business, but still have no income. What should we take to the interview? We have three years tax documents, but what for support financial proof? Is the unemployment sufficient? He is making 494.00 every two weeks.
Does my husband have to go to the interview because he is the petionary? I was thinking of going with my son as he is only 12 y.old.

My 13 y o son had his interview in last October. The consul only asked him to raise his hand to swear to tell the truth and then checked his documents and application. Asked him if he knows English and if he would like to study there, and that's it. I took no more than 5 to 10 minutes. She gave us a document to get the visa in another day. Very simple and easy.
