  1. Hello there. I know this is an old post but just in case someone experiences the same situation, I would like to add what I went through.

We are filing for AOS through marriage and I also had problems getting the mail in my name (i am the applicant). First notices came through because it was my husband's name on the letter and he has been living in the same address for over 30yrs. So the issue of not getting mail from the mailbox was not foreseen.

When I didnt receive my notices, I callled USCIS and made sure they have the correct address, and it was indeed correct.

After that, I thought everything was going to be ok but then the notices keeps on bouncing back to USCIS (as I monitored the status of my application through their website), good thing my lawyer was copied and I was able to get them but that did not make me feel good thinking that later on my EAD or GC might be returned.

So, the next thing that I did was go to the post office in-charge of our area. The manager informed me that since I'm a new resident in that address, I have to put a note in the "mailbox" that I am indeed living there.

So what I did was I made a note with my full name and taped it inside our mailbox so that the postman will see it. Good thing I did that because my EAD was delivered after 5 days and I was able to get it!

To note: for any applicant, it is best to indicate a note on your mailboxes with your full name. If you have a P.O. Box, you have to update the names of the persons who will be receiving mail from that P.O.box as well.
