Hello
When I applied for adjustment of status in 2014, my mother in law was our household member sponsor. I mean her income was used as household member income. And I applied for I-751 in September 2017. My application is still pending. Would that be okay for my husband and me to move out while my I-751 is pending. Do we have to live with household member sponsor until after I become a U.S Citizen.
Thank you very much

A1: you are eligible for filing N400 as long as your residency meets the 3 years-90days rule (if your green card is based on the marriage to US Citizen ). Renewing or replacing green card doesn't affect your citizenship application, even they are pending or not.
A2: You are allowed to apply for N400 anytime and any year after 3 years-90 days window.
Lots of folks dont want to turn into US citizen immediately until when their 10-year-old green cards are about to expire. Renewing a green card still cost money and the cost is no big different to the N400 application fee. That's why lots of folks switch to N400 instead of renewing their green cards. Plus, 10 years gives them enough time to decide if they want to become citizens in this country. so, it's a life-change choice.
Thank you very much, Marcusa.

You're eligible to file for citizenship +3 years -90 days from the "Resident Since" date listed on your conditional green card.
You don't have to wait for your I-751 to be approved first.
Thank you Hypnos.

Hello,
I would like to get some advice on applying for citizenship. It will be three years that I became a resident in November. I am already eligible to apply for citizenship. I applied for 10 years green card and my application is still pending. My question is should I wait to apply for citizenship until after my 10 years green card application is approved or should I apply for citizenship now? Do I have to apply for citizenship during these 90 days or can I still apply for citizenship after November ?
Thank you

I think they put a stamp in a card that they give you. I did have a letter about this when I needed a stamp in my passport which stated if my passport was expired to bring two passport photos which if I remember rightly they put on to a card. They don't stamp your body........ yet! Lol.
Thank you.

When I had to get my I-551 stamp at my local USCIS they did it on my passport. As far as I know they stamp your passport. They also need to see the extension letter.
I remember I wanted to have my passport stamped because I was gonna make a trip to my home country and I did not want to encounter any problem with them not recognizing the extension letter at POE,etc so I requested to have my passport stamped as evidence of my permanent residence status. Funny I got my 10 y GC approved about 1 month after getting my passport stamped with the I-551.
Thank you very much.

Four replies... three are totally wrong.
Yes you can get a stamp, but it is not in your passport.
If I remember correctly you need to take two passport photos with you to the infopass appointment.
Thank you very much. I will take two passport photos with me to the Infopass appointment.
Thanks again.

I dont think they can use an expired passport. Renew it.

Thank you guys for all your suggestions.

Hello
Can I get an I-551 stamp with an expired passport? What do I need to bring with me to get an I-551 stamp?
Thank you very much

Unlikely. They're not big into hearsay, they have more important things to do.
Are you applying for immigration benefits?
This is some stranger/ family friend of you and your husbands?
It was somebody I know for one year. He was my good friend and my husband know him too and he know about my life very well. He got mad at me so much two weeks ago and that's why he did that. He did all these to hurt me intentionally. He know our marriage is bonafide but he find ways to hurt me and that is one of the things he did. I am so attached to my husband and his family. I live with them almost 5 years and I am too scared. There are other things he did to hurt me but I solved other problems. I just don't know how to solve this one.

Has USCIS reached out to you?
No. He did that two weeks ago. My husband and I have been married for four years and do you think USCIS will believe what this guy said?

Hello everybody,
I am in a very difficult situation. I am so stressed out and scared. Somebody I know have reported to USCIS that our marriage is benefits/marriage fraud just to hurt me. What can I do to explain to USCIS that our marriage is bonafide?
Thank you
How long do we have to live with household member sponsor?

Thank you guys for your answers. When I filed for adjustment of status, I remembered submitting my mother in law driver's license copy and my husband's driver license copy to prove that we live in the same residence. I thought if we combine household member income with my husband's income, we have to live in the same place. Is that correct? I am just not sure if we have to live with her until after I become a U.S citizen. Based on what you guys said, I guess we can move out.
