My husband was placed under AP after his review, no additional documents were requested, they took his fingerprints and kept his passport.  After 60 days we still didn't know the reason why he was placed under AP, I contacted my local Senator they contacted the Embassy and was told that the reason why were his tattoos and his case was transferred to the Fraud Prevention Unit.  He has tattoos on his arms, one is his name the other his nickname, he is a former soccer player, on this back is our daughters name and our wedding anniversary date.  We have not heard back and I am very concerned.  Has anyone gone through this process and placed under the Fraud Prevention Unit?

I’m sorry you’re going through this. My husband was denied after 6-months in AP but his tattoos were questionable. I don’t see what the problem is with your husband’s tattoos. Does he have any other tattoos? Does he have any kind of record? I know this is tough, and not knowing what’s happening is the worst. It’s been 10 months since my hubby’s interview and we are trying to fight their decision. It’s hard being away from him for so long, but I’ve been lucky enough to be able to visit him.

Plus do you have a red flag??

I don't know what you mean by a red flag. He was put in AP because of his tattoos and basically was denied for the same reason. Although he has no criminal record nor was ever in a gang, some of his tattoos have been used by Mexican gangs. So they denied him for "suspicion of belonging to a criminal group". We are going to start the appeal process soon but haven't started yet, so that's why we were surprised to see the status update to transferred instead of "refused".

  3. My husband's case was denied in June after being in AP for 6-months. Even after the denial it kept saying "Administrative Processing" as the status, but last week it was updated to "Transferred" and says it was transferred to another US Consular office. My lawyer was baffled as he has never seen this. Does anyone here know what that means? Any help is appreciated.

  4. I totally get why they would scrutinize tattoos but if the person, like my husband, has no criminal record, no past or current affiliation with gangs then they should not hold it against him.

He has tribal, skulls, virgin, his deceased Brother's picture, clowns, etc. He basically has two sleeves and his back and chest tattood. Yes that's a lot. But he really does look at them as an art form.

Again, I just feel they should go by their record and not their appearance.

  5. How did the interview go? My husband had his interview in December and unfortunately was placed in administrative processing because of his tattoos. He is still in Mexico and we don't get any info, just generic responses telling us he's in administrative processing. I hope it went better for you!

  6. Sorry for my delayed response. I will update my timeline soon, just getting it together. Yes, for the CR1 visa we received the interview date and will have to wait in CDJ for the DHL package that contains his visa. We can go somewhere else in Mexico during the wait but we had to register at a DHL location and that is where we will pick up the package when ready. We are choosing to not go to his family in another part of Mexico (2-hour flight from CDJ).

  7. Hello everyone,

My husband received his interview letter (finally!) and although we were relieved it finally arrived, we were a little sad to see it's scheduled for 12/20 (in CDJ). Is it safe to assume we will be spending Christmas in Mexico? I figure since it's so close to Christmas, it may take longer than usual to receive the DHL package. One other question- I scheduled the biometrics and medical exam appointment for the day before (Monday). I'm told that's enough time but want to see what anyone who's been through this before thinks? Any other information anyone wants to share (about the interview or location) is greatly appreciated, and encouraged!
