  1. If you're living in the United States, you don't have to send pictures. Not sure about b/w green card copy but it would be more professional to have it in color. You also don't need to submit a SSN copy. The form asks for your SSN number that's all you need to include.

I picked up the form at the USISC and they gave me a form along with an extra sheet giving instructions:

$680/2 Photos/Copy of both sides GC

    Mail to XXX

  2. My pictures that i'm planning to send in with the N-400 are together on a single piece. Two identical images on the same paper, is this ok? they are 2x2 and are on a white background side by side with a space inbetween them. Should I cut them apart o.o?

Also how do I send them? Do I just put them in the package along the N-400(which I stapled together). Do I staple them on the N-400? Wondering same thing about money order actually. I just stick them in along the N-400 in the big orange envelope?

  3. Funny story, someone who lives in another city about 45 mins from me has my exact first and last name. Our birthdays are EXACTLY the same as well. Same month, year, and day. The only issue I've ever had, and the only way I found out about this, was when I went to go get my medicine filled and my insurance denied it. I asked why, and it was because another person by my name had picked up the same type of medication earlier in the month. I had to argue with them for about 30 mins that it was in no way me. Finally, when they dug into it, they were able to figure out it wasn't me. I still ocassionaly get asked if my address is her address when I pick up medicines. That's the ONLY time I've ever had issues with it though.

Oh god that is a horrible coincidence. I don't know what the hell I would do if I was in that situation. Name change maybe? :wow:

  4. The US government identifies you by your SSN. Names change, but that number will identify to for the rest of your life. I've had my identify stolen before, and it was only possible because they got my SS card. Many, many people in the US have the same name. If they actually make a mistake, it's not your fault.

It's very odd that they mixed you up during GC renewal, but I would hope that since that happened that they are aware of the possibility of mistake. Is this other guy an actual criminal? If so, how do you know about his criminal record?

The other guy is a criminal you can look up just about anyone with "whitepages . com"(are websites allowed to be linked?)

  5. Again they took your biometrics and his.

Also, if hes a criminal his prints are on file and when they run your paperwork it will rule you out. As his prints arent yours.

I would worry if its me who did it....commit crimes

    Is it you?

No, never comitted a crime or have been arrested... or even got a traffic ticket! This guy is the opposite which is why i'm so paranoid about this mix up.

  6. It would be ruled out when they see you dob and place of origin.

Your greencard was linked to your biometrics.

The US government is not dumb.

Do you have same parents same dob and fingerprints?? Do you look the same??

Have some confidence in the system....

This other person may have the same name as you have, but he will not have the same fingerprints.

Stop being paranoid. Get yourself a few drinks and stop worrying about it. Many people have same first and last names.

Heres something I didn't want to mention. I'm not really in the "system" I suppose. If you look up the name online via people search or another directory, his name and record will show but not mine(hopefully goverment's is more sophisticated). Reason for this is... I have been living in US since childhood but haven't worked at all. I went to elementary/middle/HS, but nothing after that(Living with parents). Do you guys think this will be a an issue when looking me up? I do have a driver's license and Selective service number, but that's about it.

  7. A person lives near me with the exact same name. He is apparently also a permanent resident. Will I get mistaken for him because we share same names and live near ea other? When I applied for green card renewal they told me I already had a green card and I had to explain to them that it was a different person. Getting citizenship is a very long process, it is horrifying thinking that they will mistake me again.

    Things i'm worried will happen:

    • FBI will run name check and i'm going to get deported because of his crimes
    • USISC will run background check and check him out instead of me
    • I will have to explain that they were looking into wrong person and they will delay my naturalization or just cancel it :crying: :crying::crying:

You might be thinking i'm being irrationally paranoid but I have no clue how they run their checks. For the record me and this guy have nothing else in common except exact same first/last name(maybe hes a long lost cousin?). Birthday/SSN/A# all different. Like I said they already did it once during gc renewal, I had to go and explain that "No I don't have a green card, your mistaken me for someone else. Check our Birthday/SSN/A#/Parents etc."

Am I being stupidly paranoid and destroying my mental health over nothing? Or am I likely to be mistaken, in which case... HELP PLEASE! What should I do to prevent this from happening or to be ready for when it happens.

  8. @apple21, No my parents did not naturalize before my 18th birthday unfortunately.

@aleful Thanks for the advice. What do you think I should write in the letter should I emphasize what section the letter is for etc..? Do I physically attach it to the N-400 form via stapler? Very sorry for the tedious questions, but I really just want to put my mind at ease :(

Also given the circumstances do you think it'll be held against me as bad moral character even with my given reason? Is just that enough to give reason for denial...?

  9. Have been permanent resident in the U.S since child hood, am now as an adult and want to apply for citizenship via 5 year residency.

I am having trouble understanding what I need to do regarding the tax part of the N-400. I have been living with my parents as a dependent

with no income so I have never been required to file a tax return. So here are the parts of the N-400 that I do not understand how to respond to.

1)N-400: Have you EVER not filed a federal, state, or local tax return since you became a lawful permanent resident.

2)Document Checklist: If you have ever failed to file an income tax return since you became a lawful permanent resident, send: All correspondence with the IRS regarding your failure to file.

How do I respond to that? I've never filed a tax return because i've never legally had to and I was listed as a dependent on my parents tax return. What correspondence with the IRS should be sent?

I've never corresponded with the IRS because i've never had a reason to. No income no reason to file tax return.

If I answer "no" to question 1 is that fraudulent? If I get my citizenship and they found out i've never done taxes regardless of weather I needed to will they de-naturalize me!? What do I do??

This makes me so incredibly anxious that i'm experiencing a loss of appetite. America is my home, it's where i grew up and was raised. My parents tell me not to worry

but I can't help myself. Please help.
