  1. Hello everyone-

I have already received my green card!!! and hope that you will all get yours soon. However, after only 4 short months in my present location my husband and i are moving to a different state, and i wanted to know if i need to let the US goverment know about his move since we have been married under 2 years.

Thank you and good luck to you all !

  2. Hi everyone-

well the big day is only a couple days away (jan 03), and even if it has taken 6 months to get here due to unfortunate delays we are just happy that it is here. My husband has come back especially for this day, and we were hoping to see if anyone has any tips or knows of anything extra we should bring.

Any help would be very appreciated! we are a little nervous =)

    THANK YOU

    The Migs

  3. I sent my DS-2001 the readiness form about 2 weeks ago and I havent herd anything from them. Is this normal? they havent even confirmed that they received it. and they had told me that they would schedule me within two weeks for my interview.

Please let me know if you have any insight as i am reaching the breaking point in this hole process. we have been apart for 4 months now, and the end is so close...

thanks in advance for your help

  4. Hello-

does anyone know how long it takes about after I send in my Notification of Applicant Readiness form to the consulate for me to get my interview and then my visa, as i am wondering when i should quite my job, as i have to give one month notice and i want to leave as soon as i get the visa because i miss my husband who is now in the US.

Any insight would be very appreciated.

    thank you

  5. I am trying to get my Singaporean police record because i lived there for over a year and i need it for my interview, and among the 12 other things that they ask for (its more complicated then the k3 and any admistrative thing i have ever done), i need substantial proof that i am trying to immigrate to the US. does anyone know what they mean by that???? because all i have is the NOA1 and i am not sure thats what they mean, and when i call their useless and the US embassy here in Paris is also useless for information..

    I need help....

  6. Can I ask, when you re-applied with the DCF did you have to cancel the CR-1? Did the lawyer do this for you, I am just wondering.....how you cancelled the CR-1 (if you did)

Yes we had to cancell our CR-1 by sending them a letter saying that it was faster with the embassy, and since you were there on vacation you decided to take that direction.

    Good luck =)

  7. m not sure u can do dcf. that is for when both petitioner and beneficiary reside abroad. with ur fiancee living here she will need 2 file w/ her designated service center

Good news, turns out you can =). my husband lives in the US and while he was here visiting, we went to the US consulate and filled the DCF no problem. you just both need to be there at the initial paper work drop off. then for the interviews your fiance/spouse does not need to be there. so just do it while on vacation, and take off alot of stress from filling in the US.

you will need a co-sponsor, your future in-laws will do the trick. my husband is a student and so my mother-in-law is co-sponsoring me. for info BOTH your future wife and co-sponsor need to fill out the financial forms.

as for the consulate, get there EARLY. we arrived on friday at 10AM and we were couple #10, so since they only let in 20 couples at noon, i recommend getting there early and to bring a good book. (great pain au chocolate just down the street)

i hope that this helps! good luck and congratulations!!!!

  8. I have herd that filling DCF can reduce months off your waiting time. we started going with the CR1 and a lawyer friend of ours said we were crazy! with DCF the wait is betweem 2-3 months for everything, while if you fill in the US you can wait up to 8 months! so we actually started with a CR1 and have now changed everything to be going the DCF route. it seems to be better, and may cause less time apart. also for info while your CR1 and DCF are pending they recommend that your spouse doesnt enter the US, or you can risk the whole file been blocked, so keep that in mind cause i havent seen my husband in 2 months and its no fun. :(

Hope that this helps and good luck!

  9. I dont know if anyone can help me with this, cause it doesnt seem to be very common but i figured i ask.

My parents in 1994 applied and were approved for their green card but then moved back to France (native country), because my father got transfered for work. The familly thought that since we never picked the green cards up that by now they would be null and void. However one of my sister went to apply for her working papers and during the interview the embassy brought this up saying that our green cards have been pending since 1994. However since she still has a running student visa she cant claim hers until her student visa has run out.

I am now married to an americain. he is living in the US because of school and i am here in france waiting for my K3 to do its magic. does anyone know if and how i can claim this green card? is it valid, how do i get it or anything about it. the embassy has been anything but helpful, and i have never herd of a situation like this...

if you have any information it would be very much appreciated!

    Thank you

  11. Does anyone know how long this process takes?? I have looked at the processing time table, but does it really take 6 month just for the process to start?? i have friends that got the green card within 3 months! so i am very confused about the time scale and now the process in itself.. Can i live in the US while the process is happening or do i need to stay in my home country (my husband is the US citizen, I am french). if i can be in the US can i work, or do i just sit on my hands waiting for any sign of life from the Vermont office.

If anyone has any insight it would be apreciated, as i am going a little crazy at the idea of being apart from my husband for that long!

    Please help...

  12. My husband is now a student in the USA and a US citizen, I am a french citizen and living and working in France while waiting for the green card to do its thing. However this time apart is no fun and we would like to put an end to it as soon as possible. However, since my husband is getting a masters he cant work and that is why i originally stayed here in Paris to earn money. Is there anyway that i can get a Visa in a short time that will allow me to live and work in the US so that we can be together.

If you have any insight it would be very appreciated!!! Thank you
